State Attorney General Bill Lockyer on Saturday rebuffed Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's demand that he force an end to San Francisco's same-sex marriages, calling the directive political rhetoric.

"The governor can direct the Highway Patrol. He can direct the next 'Terminator 4' movie if he chooses. But he can't direct the attorney general in the way he's attempted to do," Lockyer said, adding that Schwarzenegger's written directive "was a statement designed for consumption at the Republican convention."

Looks like a lot of people in that state should be arrested! The attorney gen.is himself promoting anarchy and if arrests can be made this way, all could be charged with a crime including the judges. This way you can get rid of the judges and the attorney gen.without a stupid impeachment process or a recall.

Dave, I put this together this morning:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1083139/posts
A Gay ( or not! ) Old Time- GM links
various FR links | 02-22-04 | The Heavy Equipment Guy

--while I suspect this whole noxious movement will have unintended consequences, backlash, and other things the Gay Marriage folks never anticipated, it should never have been allowed to come this far.

When the subject was first broached in the national conversation ( when? 1998? ) it should have been laughed, ridiculed, and hounded into extinction.

If you need to see where this leads, look up hate crime laws in Canada, where merely criticizing gays has become illegal. That's where they want to take America. It's time to kick back.

Thanks as usual for your hard work. You comment below should be part of our battle cry this year:

Liberals have been permitted to flaunt the law over and over again. they overturn the voters continually,it happened in 2000 with the election and with the torecelli law flouting and in texas with the sodomy case. I hope people are getting a gut full of all this.

maybe i'll go into a resturant and light up a cigarette and when they try to boot me out or fine i'll scream bloody loud you can't do this its a violation of my rights and why should i obey the law noone else seems too.
this country is falling apart.
we are no longer a nation that follows the law now?
this is the end result of allowing the childish, the screamers, the victims of all that is wrong in their lives, the commies, the freaks, the useless, the parasites of society to run the show for the past 60 yrs.
dare i say,the end is near and this country will meltdown into total lawlessness? heaven help us all.

Good!

I hope this arrogant, tune-deaf contempt for the rule of law on Lockyer's part is WIDELY reported.

It should spell his end in holding public office.

(But it's that "should" part that scares me. Clinton SHOULD have lost, both times, in a sane voting populace. That's the part that scares me.)

I have believed for some time that this issue has to potential to hand Bush a California victory. Liberal Democrats are slapping the people of California in the face. The longer this goes on, the worse it's going to get for the State and National Democrat party.

Help us out FReepers..who were the people who started the recall campaign here in CA?

I haven't read through the thread yet, so this may have been answered, but Ted Costa from the People's Advocate was the man from Sacramento.

I am moving from the west coast. Seriously, I can't stand it here any more.

I just did, last fall. I am on the east coast now, after having been born in California and lived there most of my life. It's a different world here.

Homosexual marriage is about the larger community approving of homosexual acts.

Bingo!

Well ready only your post, and nothing else on the thread, I don't know. I suppose Arnold will have to file some motion to replace the Attorney General as the plaintiff in a state lawsuit on the matter. But the AG is going to defend the SF lawsuit, so there is no there, there really. It is a non-story. The matter will be litigated.

You write that you are "considering" vigilanteism. I hope and pray that somewhere in the GOOD-OLE-USA-of-A there are people acting and preparing for that very possibility. I will do my part!!!!!!

The CA. SC has 7 justices of which 6, I believe, were appointed by GOP governors. Whether they are conservative or not I do not know.

Lockyer has big time ambitions to be governor. The last thing he wants to do is take on the gay constituents of the Democratic Party. The are very vocal, powerful and rich. If he comes out looking bad to the gays he could be finished.

Are you glad you moved? I would never move to the Northeast - I am thinking of around southern Indiana or northern Kentucky. Land is cheap, winters aren't too bad, and not near the DC - Boston megalopolis.

I love the west coast - the beauty, the forests, mountains, ocean - lived here since the late 60's. But the leftist takeover and now "gay" marriage is, I think, forcing me out.

Democrats are basically retarded.

There are going to be massacred come election day, and deservedly so.

Try as they might, they cannot impose their perverted and socialist agenda on the people.

This nation will continue its shift to the right, and the GOP has the likes of Gavin Newsom, Bill Clinton, and John Kerry to thank for it.

While its tempting to wish the Governor would call out the national guard and start arresting people,it is ultimately better to let this remain in the courts where the outrageous antics of the lawless left will be played out nationally on a nightly basis going into election day.

The phrase "its algore all over again" seems particularly effective.

Democrats are fond of starting fights they have no chance of winning, like Vietnam and the 2000 recount.

This event will serve as their Waterloo.

Thanks for the link to your incredible compilation thread on this issue.

My first instinct is to agree with those who call for the Governor to send out the National Guard!

On thoughtful reflection, however, I believe this would not be wise, as so many Americans, from both the Rule of Law and Anarchist camps, are itching for just this sort of showdown.

If I were Governor, I would arrest the AG and the SF mayor after 5pm Monday, issue a statement to the press late Tuesday afternoon detailing the charges and declaring all the so-called gay marriage licenses null and void. Wednesday morning I would announce my appointments for interum SF mayor and AG and the date for an emergency election to fill those posts. I would reiterate the fact that the voters of my state have already made a referendum of this issue and it is a closed case until such time as the voters of the state, not the mayor of one city, bring it up again for democratic debate.

But hey, I'm just a mailman.
