"the author exposed it as an urban legend when he said the imam hung his head in shame when he was expsoed."

Can we assume that you are unfamiliar with the work and power of the Holy Spirit?

Before you jump to conclusions

It was my point to arrive at a conclusion when I responded to the post. Perhaps you are suggesting my conclusion is flawed. Perhaps it is. Let’s review.

A person named Core_Conservative on FreeRepublic posted an article titled Allah or Jesus with an unknown author. After reading the article, I concluded that it was a made up story to advance an agenda I disagree with. I responded.

This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well known leader in prison ministry.

I don't believe you, but unfortunately there are those who will.

This may not be the most elegant way to tell an unknown author I don’t believe his story is true but I am not in doubt that Rick Mathes is well known in prisons

I reread the portion that caused me to doubt the validity of the story.

"Please, correct me if I'm wrong, (if not corrected then what follows must be accepted as correct) but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven.

The question then asked cannot be answered without agreeing that his understanding is correct even if his understanding is incorrect.

The question asked. “If that’s the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?" At this point, any answer given agrees with the author’s understanding. The next sentence reveals that if the Imam did not disagree with the statements the statements must be true.

“There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!" That is the point of this type of discourse. It is not asking, it is teaching. Now, it is also true I could be confused. What does the next exchange bring?

I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?" “There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!"

You might have missed the transition from the word infidel meaning non-believers to infidel meaning everyone who is not of your faith. You may have missed the transition from most to all. You may have missed the error in the meaning of jihad. It is my opinion that the false and misleading statements are intended is persuade ignorant people to fear of Islam.

There is more than one lesson to be learned from teachings such as these. My conclusion remains unchanged, the story is false and only told to spread misinformation about Islam.

Excuse me? Talk about a non sequitur; yours is it.

I take it then that your answer to my question is affirmative.

"I take it then that your answer to my question is affirmative."

Nope. Your question was specious, and thus warrants no reply whatsoever.

Beyond that, I believe that the article also speads discord and lies about and within not just Islam, but Christianity.

I honestly don't know what to make of this article. Without confirmation from Rick Mathes himself, I will not fully accept this to be true, though the information may be correct.

As for the Imam... I suspect, if this is true, that he acted rashly and foolishly, and was throughly not expecting such a direct opposition to his doctrine.

I'll probably check this with a few muslim friends, seeing as how I live in a 'muslim' nation, but I don't know if I'll bother to post up my findings. This entire topic has 'racial timebomb' written all over it.

As to Diogenesis... 'you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us'?! Right... I can see why some of my friends are anti-American, with that attitude. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth... it's ideals like this that start pointless wars worldwide, and of which subject countless civilians to torture and death.

As for editor-surveyor... think a little more carefully before you act. THe Holy Spirit is God's spirit within us... you've probably chased him away with your actions. Please consider what your bible has to say about tact. Proverbs 10:14.

I'm a christian, but I don't really like what this article has begun. I know my truth. I can't, and won't, try to convince anybody that my truth is absolute unless they ask me to. And even then, only those who hunger will accept it.

Do I believe this could have actually happened? Yes, I do. God's done lesser things in His time. Am I going to spread it around? I doubt it, but anything's possible. Do I like the attitude that Rick Mathes seems to have in the article? Definately not. It's... boastful. We are called to be humble, to be loving. God can protect his own name. He doesn't need us to do it.

For a more christian view on this article, please look at this address:

I'd advise that everybody disregard this topic, before people start flaring at one another...
