First French Troops Surrender In Haiti - March 1st 2004

After spending at least five minutes in action in Haiti, it has been reported that the first group of French troops have surrendered, when an elderly local woman approached them in an “almost menacing manner.” It is believed they are currently being held hostage, having to endure stories about how much life was better in the old days, and being force fed home cooked cakes.

The French Government has so far been unable to contact the woman holding their troops, but insists it will use only their bravest diplomats to secure their release, just in case the woman starts shouting or speaking slightly fast.

Meanwhile, American and Canadian forces are believed to be making progress in bring some form of peace keeping order to the capital, but are puzzled as to why the majority of the French troops have yet to disembark from their transport boats.

According to the French Government, the troops will disembark once the tide has gone out as they don’t want to get their feet wet.

Very funny. Almost menacing manner, I like that, quite sly, really.

French diplomats have approached the Americans with demands on the terms and timing of their rescue. "We don't want them to screw it up like they did last time in Normandy.", French officials sniffed.

My heart goes out to these brave French soldiers who displayed remarkable courage in an almost iffy situation.

Do an "I feel lucky" Google search on "French war victories" and see what you get. Very funny indeed.

The elderly lady walked with a cane, the French believed it to be a weapon, so they surrendered rather than have needless bloodshed. France is appealing to the UN for a resolution condemning the old woman.

Rumors of inhuman conditions have raised concern for the French troops. At this moment UN planes are air-lifting cases of Beaujolais to the deprived prisoners.

Red Cross workers are examining reports that the French troops have not had their afternoon naps for two days.

A French spokesman reported that his men have not lodged any complaints about a lack of showers since they didn't care to bathe anyway.

US Democrat Presidential candidate John Effing (French-looking) Kerry as recommended medals for the men in Haiti saying that he had received a medal and three purple hearts (including Bandaids and a lollipop) and was on his way back to Boston when he served his 48 hours in Vietnam!
