With same-sex marriage in the headlines, an elite Southern California prep academy distinguished for its "Crossdressing Day" and "Ménage à Prom" will host a forum tonight titled A Queer State of the Union, featuring a state lawmaker and prominent homosexual activists.

Crossroads School for the Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica, where many Hollywood celebrities send their children, was dubbed "Hollyweird High" by authors Andrew Breitbart and Mark Ebner in their book "Hollywood, Interrupted: Insanity Chic in Babylon -- The Case Against Celebrity."

According to faculty member Adam Behrman, who is the forum's moderator, the school has a "sexual orientation curriculum" that includes instruction to kindergarten through fifth-grade students about how "there are different kinds of families, which include families with two mommies and two daddies."

Behrman is faculty adviser for a campus "gay-straight" group called FLAG, Friends of Lesbians and Gays, which staged a theater production called "Everything Possible: A Gay Odyssey." Focusing on the "coming out journey" of a 15-year-old student, it was written and performed by many straight students who acted as homosexuals. The play included a scene of two boys kissing. The emotional response of seventh graders to the production apparently was the catalyst for the start of middle-school gay-straight alliance.

In interviews with Queer Youth TV, Behrman said he is seeing more youth explore their "sexual orientation."

"One thing I'm starting to notice in the last year or two … which is really, really cool, not just at Crossroads, but other places, that it's becoming more and more OK for people who are probably largely toward the straight end of the spectrum to really think about, 'You know, maybe I'm bisexual,'" he said in an interview segment on the Queer Youth website.

Behrman said the response is "not from a, 'Oh, it's trendy to be bi,' but really thinking, like, well, 'OK, maybe I don't have to limit myself … what am I shutting myself off to?'"

Noting he also works at a camp in Vermont, Behrman said some of the 13 and 14 year olds there also are exploring bisexuality.

"And some of them may turn out to not be bi at all but really be authentically straight," he said, "but they are still willing to consider, like actively consider, and share it with an adult, 'Yeah, I don't know, maybe I'm bisexual. What does that mean and who am I?'"

Behrman said every student in middle school and high school at Crossroads has one hour or two hours each week of "life skills," where the issue of sexual orientation is among the subjects discussed with about 15 other students, led by a teacher or trained facilitator.

The forum tonight includes nationally-known homosexual-rights speakers and activists such as California state Assembly member Jackie Goldberg of Los Angeles, who as part of the legislature's "Gay Caucus" helped pass a number of bills promoting homosexual rights last year.

Others featured are Rev. Troy Perry, founder of the predominantly homosexual Metropolitan Community Churches Worldwide; Stephen Macias, entertainment media director for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation; Geoffrey Kors, executive director for Equality California, a prominent group in the push for same-sex marriage; and R. Bradley Sears, professor of law at UCLA.

Also promised are "queer youth members and other surprise guests."

A promotion for the event, which is free and open to the public, says, "Queer issues have dominated the headlines recently and are also prominent in the current presidential campaign. Join us as we explore the latest developments."

Special Guests will include Phranc, described as the "all-American Jewish lesbian folksinger and Tupperware lady" who will "open up the evening with music to delight & amaze us." Bob Smith, "the first openly gay comedian to appear on The Tonight Show as well as to star in his own HBO special … will offer us a humorous look at the queer state of current affairs."

On its website, Crossroads says it was founded in 1971 as a "distinctively progressive school offering an intellectually demanding and creative curriculum within a supportive, personal environment that has at its base the notion of safety, equity, and inclusion for all."

I can understand if any given person chooses to practice tolerance towards homosexuals, but what kind of idiot parent sends their child to a school that promotes deviancy?
IMO, this is child abuse on par with the folks who groom girls to become one of 7 wives at the age of 13.

I was raised in the Entertainment Industry. I still have family members who work and live in LA. I guess I really am getting old. 25 years ago, things were pretty decadent. This garbage goes beyond the pale.

Hey, is anyone going to prosecute the homosexual adults who are "helping" these minors "explore" their sexuality?

Coming soon to a public school near you. WAIT! It's already happening in Massachusetts and California. Our society is sick and depraved to condone this stuff.

I don't have anything against gay peope per se' but this is a f***ing outrage, if this was my kids school i'm afraid i'd have to show out up at the school. This is a disgrace & a clear reminder of how far we have degraded morally in this country. It also shows how we as a whole are willing to expose our children to harmful lifestyles that can quite literally kill them. Let the kids figure it out on their own, if their gay fine but don't push on them, that's just wrong.

Of course not, that would be intolerant. (/sarcasm) I think the best thing we can do is bring these issues to the surface. The mainstream media and the government prosecuters do everything possible to hide it. I come across so many similar horror stories that are hidden in the news and police claim they are told by State Attorney's and other officials, "not to discuss the issue with the media."

What's next S&M day, whip your classmates? Wear a leather mask to school?

Let kids be kids for crying out load. Pushing kids to "discover" their "bisexuality" is disgusting.

I know people with kids at that school, and "idiot parent" isn't far off the mark.

Wow. Chickenhawk heaven.

Here's what I don't get: everybody is screaming at the Catholic Church for failing to get homosexual priests out of the parishes where they could molest little boys.

But when gay activists are leading what amount to officially sanctioned grooming programs for little children, nobody utters a peep . . . ?!?!?!??

I agree, recruiting children for this is so wrong. We try to be tolerant and these freaks are alway's in our face pushing this on us and our children, so quite frankly i'm tired of it.

What these (and so many other) parents are allowing their children to be subjected to is VERY SAD, rises to the level of abuse (IMHO) and should be considered criminal!!!

Noting he also works at a camp in Vermont, Behrman said some of the 13 and 14 year olds there also are exploring bisexuality.

Could this "camp in Vermont" actually be this "youth retreat?"

Homosexual Activists Solidify Hold on Schools

"...With a three-year grant worth $121,575 from the Vermont Department of Health, Outright targets middle and high school kids. Kathy Hoyt, Vermont Secretary of Administration, proudly asserted that Outright Vermont "developed a training program for public schools that was designed to support diversity and safe schools for Vermont’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth."

As in Massachusetts, however, "safety" has begun to bleed into "sex." That’s the serious charge leveled by Nancy Sheltra, a six-term state representative and founder of Vermont’s pro-family organization, Standing Together And Reclaiming the State (STARS). According to documents provided to AFA by STARS, Outright Vermont has gone lightyears beyond the simple purpose espoused by Hoyt.

For example, Outright used taxpayer money to provide "safer sex activities" and "parties" for teens. These events included, according to Outright’s own documents, "demonstrations, guided practice & skill evaluation" for the use of prophylactics, and the distribution of free condoms, lubricants for sexual intercourse between males, "dental dams" for oral sex between lesbians, and latex gloves for mutual masturbation.

The number of such items requested by Outright Vermont for distribution to teens was mind-boggling: 5,000 condoms, 750 dental dams, 750 latex gloves, and 2,000 packets of lubricant.

Outright also spent monies on youth retreats, including the "recruitment of youth participants," which utilized mailing lists and youth-related meetings to stir interest in the gatherings. Kids who expressed an interest in attending were transported - again using state money - to the retreat site, where youth and adult staff again taught kids how to engage in homosexual sex practices. Outright’s own quarterly report said, "All retreat participants practiced and were evaluated on their (prophylactic) barrier use skills and were given a variety of barriers to take home. Participants joined in role plays"..."

The Problem with Equivalence: "Pedophilia Chic" defended

In 'Pedophilia Chic Reconsidered,' Eberstadt raises questions about the mixed messages on appropriate sexual behavior for minors given out by the youth websites of many gay organizations. Eberstadt is concerned that these sites are encouraging young boys and girls to think sexually at ever younger ages. The parents disturbed by the Outright Vermont program agree. During the campaign, these parental groups complained loudly about graphic pictorial illustrations of, and instructions for, gay oral sex, fisting, and "rimming" ("mouth to ass," as the pamphlet describes it) made available to young people by Outright Vermont. Interestingly, supporters of Outright Vermont were, by their own account, "visibly shaken" by these attacks. What so shocked the partisans of Outright Vermont was that anyone could be horrified by the act of distributing to youngsters the sort of "safe sex" material gay organizations now ignore as commonplace.

The cultural fault line here is profound, and no aberration. The gay adults who operate gay-straight alliances and organizations like Outright Vermont seem to have a very different view than most heterosexual parents on the extent to which sexually explicit material ought to be made available to young people. And to be sure, explicit material about homosexual sex is even more disturbing to most parents than explicit material about heterosexual sex. With good reason. The most disquieting thing of all is that programs like Outright Vermont are now targeted at GLBTQ's. That's an acronym for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning youth. A "questioning" youth, of course, is uncertain about his or her sexual orientation. But it's entirely commonplace for children who end up heterosexual to go through a youthful phase in which they question their own sexual orientation. Will these children now be told they have a gay gene, be handed a dental dam, and directed to an adult gay porn site?..."

Indeed it is. And it not limited to high school and middle school aged kids:

Psychiatrist "Reassures" Parents About Lesbian Experimentation

"...The article describes a parent-faculty meeting at The Spence School, a private enclave overlooking Central Park, where several eighth-grade girls had declared themselves "bisexual." The school called in a Harvard-educated psychiatrist, Dr. Justin Richardson--himself a gay man--to reassure the parents that lesbian experimentation is common, and that it was too soon to know if they would be lesbians or heterosexuals.

At the all-girl Brearly School two weeks earlier, Dr. Richardson told a parent group to advise their daughters as young as nine years old that they, too, may have sex with other girls in the future. "It is a good idea," he said, "to mention that people have sex with members of the same sex sometimes, and that when they grow up they may have friends that do that--and that it may be something that they themselves do."

"A small but growing number of students," the Times article reported, "have come out at these schools, or at least say that bisexuality is stylish." Parents are concerned, and Dr. Richardson--"pedigreed, carefully-spoken, determinedly nonthreatening--has become the schools' gay issues consultant of choice" because he is "sane and clear," according to the Spence headmaster..."
