"The Truth About Democrats" Campaign Ad #1: Winning With Anger

Jonathan posted a link to the files earlier to his streamload account. I was out with the kids today. The ad is now online at http://naspino.com/media with the rest of the collection.

From John Kerry and the International Socialist Party:

An adept student of propaganda once wrote, "The art of propaganda lies in understanding the emotional ideas of the great masses and finding through a psychologically correct form, the way to the attention and [then] to the heart of the broad masses." In other words, the art of propaganda is to transform politics from a reasoned debate of issues among intellectuals into an emotionally driven stupor of the masses. He then went on to write, "The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, [and] their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan. As soon as you sacrifice this slogan and try to be many-sided, the effect will piddle away, for the crowd can neither digest nor retain the material offered. In this way the result is weakened and in the end entirely cancelled out." Propaganda short-circuits reasoned debate by building a consensus outside of the political process, which can then apply significant external pressure to anyone standing in the way of the message.

The Democrats, through the press, use this technique of propaganda to avoid the reasoned debate. What do they stand for other than hatred of George W. Bush? This ad cuts to the heart of the Democrat plan.

In my opinion, this is the best one to date. It cuts to the heart of the problem of the Democrat party which no longer represents Jeffersonian Democracy, but rather, 1930's German Socialism.

Is the complaining ad on your site? Jonathan and I worked on it, and I tried to post it on my profile, but i cannot figure out how to post it as a link!
Also, thanks for hosting all of the ads and getting the good word out! Your efforts do not go unnoticed!

Politics has always been this way. There is no "reasoned debate" involved, and never has been. The "emotionally driven stupor of the masses", yes, indeed, the reality of politics. "The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, [and] their power of forgetting is enormous. In this way the result is weakened and in the end entirely canceled out." Yup.

You are deeply wrong in thinking that "the political process" is anything other than this cynical and sad and very human reality. Reason has nothing whatever to do with "the political process".

"Propaganda short-circuits reasoned debate by building a consensus outside of the political process", you say. No, no, no. Not outside the political process in any way. Are so naive as to think humans make decisions based on "reason"? People do not give a fig about "reason".

I have been fighting our fight for almost forty years. The Socialists are winning, they have been winning all of my life, and they are getting very close to taking the gloves off the iron fist. If we are to win we must be honest about what politics is, what human nature is, what "democracy" surely brings with it. Tyranny. Blood. The end of hope.

Politics has always been this way.

Its been this way in our lifetimes. It was not this way when the country was founded -- or those that attempted it failed. It is remarkable to read the debates that took place over two hundred years ago -- they put to shame our current political system.

I am familiar with the period 1750 - 1789. You are mistaken. Examine the politics in detail.

Remember that Franklin had his nephew die in prison because he was of the other political party. Remember that the Royalists had all of their property confiscated and were thrown out of the country. Remember that many of the Framer's were sure that the "republic" would fail through democracy.

Hamilton was probably the most convincing of this party, and Hamilton thought that the Constitution was a forlorn hope but the best that could be accomplished. Hamilton said that the people would not defend the Constitution, and he has been proved correct.

Thanks for posting this, and the link. The American people need to know the truth about the democrat party leaders, and John Kerry. The media surely won't tell them. Who wrote this? Is this by a freeper?

I am aware that few had hopes -- you should read the full article. Despite this fact they were very eloquent in the defense of liberty. When asked what type of government they had settled on Franklin replied "A republic, if you can keep it." -- Can you show me any debate between the current parties regarding the liberty of man -- or whether any law debated will impede their liberty?
