From what I understand, this station switched to news/talk on April 5th. Joins the brand new KCAF 990 am 'Main Street Radio' news talk station that began last month. (http://www.990mainstreet.com/) 660 am offers national talk shows, while 990 am offers local shows of Kevin McCarthy and freeper David Gold.
This is great news, it has never been better in DFW talk radio. One of the benefits of all those new residents coming in(150,000 a year), bigger market size induces more competition. Hopefully we'll be able to support all these options.

This might be worthy of a texas ping
I should be clear, AFAIK, 660am and 990am are not affiliated, but rather will be vigorous competitors.
However for us listeners, both are great additions.
FYI, 570 KLIF has added Tony Snow's radio show from 7-10pm weeknights (Michael Savage moves over to 660am). So instead of wasting time getting angry at that idiot Bill O'Blowhard, turn off the TV and tune in to a real conservative.

David Gold subs for the locals here in Houston, he's very entertaining.

Great News:
Just checked out the site and found out that they stream their broadcasts.
DFW is just a bit too far away for good reception, live near Brownwood.
Thanks for posting it..

Thanks. I will definitely check this out, especially for Laura.
I haven't heard David Gold in ages. Need to check him out also. He was on KLIF before it went downhill.

I'd love to see Dan Patrick dump Bill O'Blowhard for David Gold's show, if they could work something out. But hey, Dan Patrick has done an excellent job with KSEV and for conservatism, so I'll trust his judgement.
BTW, Chris Baker on KPRC really cracks me up, I always try to listen to his show when in town.

Yes, I heard a caller from Dallas 660 on Micheal Medved's show the other day, saying it was a new station. You should listen to his show, he challenges any liberal/demo to call him and disagree with his conservative point. He intellectually slaps them around. I think its the best conservative-outreach program I've ever heard. I hope alot of long time Dems listen to his show and realize that conservatism is their ideological home.

Is Rush still run on a tape delay in Dallas? Yes; a one-hour delay, noon-to-three on WBAP 820.

I've never liked that. It's irritating, and it is very second-rate treatment for the Number One host. It makes WBAP seem like a hick station.
Oh yeah, maybe Dallas actually NEEDS a talk station like 660 KSKY, since WBAP and the other one mainly play news and sports, not talk.

WBAP has Mark Davis on from 9-Noon, and he's far and away the most popular talk show in the DFW Metroplex, next to Rush.
Hannity is on from 3-6, then Gary McNamara from 6-9.
WBAP does carry the Dallas Stars during hockey season, but that doesn't affect their ratings.
Besides, if all that's on at night is that lunatic Michael Savage, I'll take hockey.

WBAP itself had a shakeup several months ago and is pretty much nothing but talk. The Stars are still on WBAP, but their hour long noon news program was dumped and they have talk shows from 0900 until those two yahoos that go off the air at 0500. 20 hours of scheduled talk per day.
That said, Laura Ingraham is on 660 from 0800-1200. Yowsa!

For some unfathomable reason WBAP delays Rush 1 hour so they can give 3 hours to their local guy Mark Davis. Mark is a nice guy who is fighting on the good side, but I just find his style extremely difficult to listen to. And by tape delaying Rush, they then tape delay Hannity. Same for Mike Gallagher, they run 2 hours of his show 9-11pm, though from what I've read he broadcasts live 8-11am central (especially odd since IIRC he lives in Dallas.)
Its all very annoying.
