Loftus says it will require 20 minutes to take out Syria.
1 minute of fighting
and 19 minutes to stop laughing.

If anyone has other links that can confirm NewsMax's poison gas and WMD story, please post them here. Silly me, I posted the story on another board before I discovered there was no confirmation of it. When I saw there was no confirmation of the poison gas allegation, I removed the text and replaced it with the SFGate.com article, but failed to replace the thread title, so it still talks about WMD and the liberals are pounding me.

I will never quote NewsMax again.

Who's going to sue over the fact that such bias constitutes an illegal campaign contribution?

Nobody, but that contribution is enormous.

There is no word whatsoever of this event in my local Sunday newspaper (no surprise, as it is wholly owned by the New York Times).

As an aside, their feature front page article today is an entire page (five-column spread) on the 911 Ommission hearings. But, not a single word about the bombshell Ashcroft testimony (he's not even mentioned), the "wall" memo, the "post-millenium" memo, or Jamie Gorelick and her refusal to resign and testify. On the other hand, blame is heavily troweled on the Bush Administration and "confusion" within the CIA and FBI. But, the Clinton Administration is credited with heroically trying to get bin Laden despite all the obstacles (specifics unnamed). A large bloc of space was breathlessly given to the Clarke testimony and his damnation of President Bush's lack of concern over the terror threat. Oh, and lots on the August 8th PDB Memo, with repeat after repeat of the full title.

This isn't just lame writing, it's criminal. People reading our paper are being denied the facts and fed crap. How can citizens make any kind of a valid judgment when they are not getting all the facts but instead get a cleverly crafted web of innuendos, lies and false conclusions?

Does GORE-lick have a card of her own? SHE SHOULD!!!

Just a suggestion...Free Republic should create a deck of cards in the likeness of the most dangerous liberals and those that pose a threat to true American values...Gore, ClinTOON's, Kerry, SoroASS, Kennedy, media-types and so on. 52 cards may not be enough, but it should be available for the next Freep-a-thon and anyone that donates $52 will get the deck of cards....just an idea...what do you think??

Israel's intel was warning, before the war and while the inspectors were briefly let back in after all those yrs., that the WMD were being shipped to Syria. Israel intel is pretty good at this stuff. Syria's up to no good. They fill Iraq's position on the axis of evil list.

You are so correct. We have been reading for quite a long time that Saddam stashed his WMD in Syria. There must be some reason that they don't want to let us know- even with the President being mocked about the so-called missing WMD's.

With all due respect, you sound like those running around with "War in Not the Answer" bumper stickers, but are totally clueless about what IS the answer?

On the contrary, the poster has raised a reasonable practical question. From where will we get adequate numbers of properly trained and equipped troops? This question will require a practical answer; flag-waving and harrumphing will not do any good.

Gee --- I wonder why CNN didn't report this up front?

I have one MAJOR quibble about this article:

Israeli intelligence has long believed that after the U.S. French, Germans and the UN delayed invasion plans to allow U.N. weapons inspectors time to search for Iraq's WMDs, Saddam moved the banned weapons to Syria, the only other country where the Ba'ath Party ruled.

The UN antics are unequivocally responsible for the "surprising" lack of WMD in Iraq. There is NO MYSTERY here.

Jordan nearly paid the price this month. We don't know who or when that turkey will actually (successfully) roost.

I apologize for not having read one more post before my response #96. You're completely right in pointing out that in addition to the UN and Euroweenies, that our "very own" Demodogs were egging them on, and giving SH more time.

I distinctly remember that there was some story about Bashir making noises supporting the US in the War against terrorism early on, but he was squashed in that desire by some of his ruling council members - I think defense minister leading him on or someone like that... Anybody else recall this?

I don't think he has much control over what actually happens in Syria. (He needs to be deposed anyway...)

Meanwhile, over 90 US Soldiers and Marines have been killed this month, the most of any since the war began. Over 700 have been killed since March, 2003.
