In the case of Hamtramck, Bobby Vinton songs or polka blasted 5 times daily would be more appropriate!

This has got to be the direct result of the city's financial ruin. This must be their way of trying to attract new buyers and businesses after having to be financially taken over by the state. What a damned shame. It was once a great little community with the best pierogis you could shake a stick at.

I'm thinking the local Baptist & Catholic churches should broadcast "Onward Christian Soldiers" 5 times a day in response...

They can also purchase a watch, and both sound the 'azan' (call to prayer). The clock comes in 4 colors. LOL

God, you're missing out. If they're fresh (the only way to eat them) you don't need to boil them. Sautee them with butter and onions and fresh ground pepper and salt. Lots of people like them with sour cream afterwards (I don't but it's all a taste bud thing and for me the sour cream hides the flavor). You have to try them at least once. If you're a picky eater, get the potato and cheese ones. If you like kraut, go for it. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Why do they need to be told when to pray?

That was my thought also. This is frightening. I do not want to be subjected to this.

People must keep in mind that this is all about territory. The call to prayer basically claims the area as Islamic

Agreed.

People must keep in mind that this is all about territory. The call to prayer basically claims the area as Islamic. Any attempt to convince them to use alarm clocks or radios isn't going to fly, because its not the reason.

And, historically, once they "lay claim" to a land, they consider it to always be "Muslim" land. i.e. Spain.

"pierogi (potato/cheese stuffed pasta) First boiled then fried in butter!!"

Ummm! Pierogi!

Polish-Irish-Chinese fusion cuisine, before 'fusion' applied to food...Polish, Irish potato-stuffed, fried won-tons?? Or, Polish Ravioli?

Either way, where does the line form, and what time do you start serving?

From approx. 1972 to about 1984 I spent my leisure hours drinking and hustling pool in Hamtramck, most favorite bar was the Congor Bar on Conant. Same bar, from what I hear, is now a Hari-Krishna bookstore and most of the other establishments have succumed to alien influence also.......

Isn't it bad enough that they have to live in a town named Hamtramck?

I dont know how far back the history of Ham town goes but what I do know is that it was populated entirely by polacks who emigrated to this country since WW-II, assimilated to society, either established their own businesses or went to work for the auto industry.

I relocated to Detroit from Northern Michigan when I was discharged from the Army in 72 and via a friend, started hanging around the bars in Hamtramck. Over the next 12 years or so got to meet and acquire friends who grew up in Hamtramck. Bar owners, bakery owners, you name it.

Haven't been in that area for may years and am really dismayed over the facts of this article.

But then again, it doesn't surprise me because most of the population who were either business owners or auto industry workers made substantial incomes which allowed them to move to the suburbs such as Sterling Heights, Macomb Twp., New Baltimore.... etc.....

As for the Congor bar on Conant, which was my home away from home, I hear that the Hari Krishna's walked into Steve's place and offered him cash for the place.........

Raising hand and waving wildly!
I demand an noise abatement exemption for the playing of revilee early in the am, and playing Taps in the evening.
At the sound of revilee, all must raise their flags, and at the sound of Taps, all must lower their flags.
If one has no flag handy, one must stop, face the direction of the nearest flag, or the direction of the sound of the bugles, and salute for the duration of the playing of both Revilee and Taps, unless one finds themselves indoors, or out of uniform, at the time.
If out of uniform, one must stop, and cover their heart with their right hand.
If indoors, one need not respond.
Many people may initially find this an annoying daily ritual, but they will soon get used to it, as it will eventually become second nature, and ultimately required by law.
The purpose of this exercise is to daily remind everyone in our community of our sworn duties.
It is a highly effective technique.
Since it is not religious in nature, I am sure the ACLU and the liberals would have no objections at all to the practice.
hmmmm

Opponents take issue with that comparison, saying that church bells today are used to mark the time of day and have no religious significance. If the bells are the issue, then turn them off, they say.

Is this true? The bells go off on the hour?

Now this is an interesting post. I would contend that my human rights were being infringed - just as you note - by being repeatedly forced to listen to the call of the terrorists.

Note to you "Freedom of religion" types commenting here - a person is guaranteed the right to practice his religion. Not the right to transmit religious messages in a medium which cannot be avoided. This is not a question of practicing religion. This is a question of the right not to be forced to listen to offensive language.

Unfortunately for the Muslims, their religion and religious leaders have strongly identified themselves with anti-Americanism and anti western/democratic society. And at this point we are not talking about rhetoric - we are talking about murder. Islam is a religion - yes - but its message and position in the world is as an American adversary. This position was not forced on it by Americans - it was chosen by the leaders of Islam. Repeatedly. On a global scale. On a daily basis. For at least 30 years. The practice of it is offensive to many Americans - for good reason.

People do have a right not to be intimidated without an ability to turn off the sound. The sound of Islam - by the choice of its leaders - is the sound of murder and intimidation. The speakers should be turned off until the Muslims find a way for the average person not to be intimidated/disgusted by the practice of their "religion".

I wonder what this does for home values? Does this create a "biased neighborhood" - biased to the entry and lifestyle of one group over another? Of course it does - what Christian would knowlingly purchase a home in that area?

The Muslims need to be taken at their word and deed. Their speakers will transmit the sound of hatred and intolerance. They should be stopped.
