WASHINGTON, April 25 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today hundreds of thousands of women, men, children and teens will gather from across the country and around the world to protest attacks on women's reproductive rights and speak up for America's pro-choice majority. A live Webcast will be available (with a one-to-two-hour delay) on http://www.plannedparenthood.org/march for those who are unable to attend the march itself.
"Today we will send our message loud and clear: reproductive rights are human rights, and they cannot be ignored," said Gloria Feldt, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).
Feldt will be speaking as part of a line-up of speakers and performers surrounding the march that also includes Julianne Moore, Madeline Albright, Carol Mosley-Braun and many more.
"Anti-choice extremists are not just against abortion -- they also oppose contraception and comprehensive, medically accurate sex education," said Feldt. "Meanwhile, extremist policies like the global gag rule are killing women in the poorest countries of the world. Planned Parenthood is leading the effort to protect our fundamental human right to control our own reproductive lives."
PPFA President Gloria Feldt will be available for interviews throughout the day. To arrange an interview, please contact Joel Lawson at 202-236-2316.
The March for Women's Lives is expected to draw a historic number of people and is led by seven organizing groups: PPFA, the American Civil Liberties Union, Black Women's Health Imperative, Feminist Majority, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, and the National Organization for Women. More than 100 international celebrities have come together to support the march, and many of them -- including Helen Hunt, LisaGay Hamilton, Bradley Whitford and Whoopi Goldberg -- will be marching as well.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America is the nation's largest and most trusted voluntary reproductive health organization. Planned Parenthood believes that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child -- and that every child should be wanted and loved. Planned Parenthood affiliates operate nearly 900 health centers nationwide, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of women, men, and teenagers each year.

Planned Parenthood Brings Representatives from Around Nation, World to March for Womens' Lives Except the unborn women...
To: chance33_98
Now this is a large crowd.
This is the Promise Keepers March from October 1997 that CNN said was about 100,000 men. CNN is now saying that today's march in Washington is a million strong. The largest in history. Nah, there's no bias in media.

Except the unborn women...
True. Of course, they would argue that the unborn are better served by being wanted in the first place, when sex ed and contraception are readily available.
I looked in on C-SPAN just now. It's all very shrill and very PC, but they have a good turnout, apparently.

Who's marching for the children murdered in the "process"?

Anybody have an accurate count for this crowd? They were bragging they'd get 750,000-1,000,000.

Funny, didn't see this kind of media coverage in January when the prolife people come to town.
Actually, I didn't see any media coverage at all.
Nope, no bias there.

Sweet Lord, I thought that was a pic from today! You scared the crap out of me!
Anyone notice how this "march" went from "March for Abortion Rights" to "March for Choice", to "March for Women's Lives"? Why? Because PPF and NARAL are becoming increasingly aware of America's growing opposition to abortion on demand. Because they had to include "health issues" as one of the reasons to march. Because abortion "rights" wasn't enough. That's why NARAL changed its name to "Pro-Choice America"- people are finally waking up to what is going on, and they don't even want to say "abortion" any more.

Hmmm... When did this happen? Seems like most surveys I've seen show pro-life/anti-abortion folks having the majority.

I live in the area and see most of the demos. Jogging by the crowd, there is no way this is a million head count. Under half the Mall was filled up which means possibly 200K-250K at noon, if that. Not very many Men and saw only a handfull of male teens; tons of female teens, though. I watched for a bit, but left when someone started spewing "I Hate (fill in Bush cabnet member here)!" from the stage with her daughter standing next to her.

Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you.

From what I've seen on stage today, Rush was right.

During the pro-life march in 1990, a reporter on the scene said there were "almost 60,000" pro-life demonstrators in the mall area. AT THAT VERY MOMENT, the US Park Service said there were 600,000.
Naaaa. No bias at all.

I wish one of our intrepid FR reporters could catch a screenshot of the Mall right now. It was all but empty and the speaker was still calling it the largest march in history.
Even a screenshot of the march at its largest would prove them wrong in their count.

Oh, it will be remembered as the "greatest, largest march in the history of the world" from now on. I have no doubt they decided that last week.
Over and over again, the media will tell us that over a million women marched today. That's how it will be remembered.

The death marchers were straggling by as we were going to and from church. The numbers did not seem large, certainly not as compared to the Promise Keepers or even the Million Man March. That may have to do with designated assembly points, but from this angle of approach, the crowd was not impressive.
