Op. Infinite Freep: Fresno Support our Troops/President Rally for 5/07/04

Eight of us gathered on Patriot's Corner at Shaw and Blackstone tonight to show our support for our Troops and the President's War on Terror. The weather co-operated and cooled a lot from the hot temperatures of earlier in the week. The wind was a little more than a gentle breeze, but did not cause us too many problems.

Our opposition gathered on the South East corner and were out with signs when FriendAnn and I arrived at 5:00. There were about 2 dozen there with typical signs, IE: Bush Lied,Soldiers Died and No more American Blood for Iraqui Oil. And of course, they had a couple of signs with the sign of the American Chicken, otherwise known as the peace symbol. They were getting a fair amount of support as we set up our corner.

After a few more FReepers arrived and started working the motorists, it was obvious to everyone that the majority of support was directed to our side of the street. A few peacenics tried to engage us in a verbal exchange by yelling at us. They are very easy to ignore.

Six of us went to dinner at Lyon's after the Rally. This was an excellent chance to visit and discuss plans for future rallies. Thank you, Enterprise!!

Subject: I Support Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld !

My Dear Sir:

In light of the developments in the news here lately and SOD Donald Rumsfeld's testimony on Capitol Hill today, I felt compelled to send this note to you. It is my hope that you will convey my note of support to him.

When President Bush was elected in 2000 (I voted for him, by the way), I was ELATED to hear later that Donald Rumsfeld was picked as Secretary of Defense. I recalled him from his prior service and felt CONFIDENT that we had the right man at the top of the Defense Department.

I encourage Secretary Rumsfeld to STAY THE COURSE and to keep up the great job he is doing.

I am not one to usually take an activist stance except in times that I feel STRONGLY about an issue. This is one of those times.

I EMPLORE Mr. Rumsfeld to hang in there. We NEED strong leadership like his at such an important position. I would be very disappointed to lose such a great leader, great human at this time in history!
