Troops Cheer Rumsfeld's Blast at Media
NewsMax ^ | 5/13/04 | NewsMax

"I've stopped reading newspapers," Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said today to the troops in Abu Ghraib, Iraq. "You've got to keep your sanity somehow. I'm a survivor."

The wire services did relate that remark. What they didn't admit was the loud cheers rising from the GIs.

Fortunately, we saw (and heard) the footage on Fox News.

No, I don't think he was ever in VietNam. I believe that he WAS in FRENCH Indochina though.

Boston IS "loserville". The claim that "half" the modern weapon systems being used in Iraq were designed by the MIT and Harvard communists, exclusively, is laughable. The higher incomes in Massachusetts are relative; it costs more to cover the kickbacks, payola, graft, and corruption that permeates Massachusetts, so pay scales have to be proportionally higher than elsewhere. And as far as Massachusetts being a haven for "conservatives" in the state house and senate, that must explain why the tax burden is so high and the "conservatives" must now get used to unfettered abortion, gay marriage, and euthanasia; particularly all of those "conservative" Catholics who've re-elected Chappaquiddick Fats for an eternity.

Now if we could shake our disgusting congressman and senators we could lose that dumb "liberal" smear.

ADd to that your record in presidential elections

There is a strange dichotomey in MA. The State house and Senate are contolled by conservative dems who are social conservatives but fiscal liberals who tax and spend. But they also routinely nominate obvious libs to our supreme court and then act all surprised over their sick tyrannical decisions like this latest gay marriagge thing. At least they are trying to fight it now.

Boston is a nice city. It's the people that aren't so nice. Having blue laws in place doesn't make the state conservative. Look at your federal elections. The results say a lot. BTW, here in FL, there are still dry counties, which means NO alcohol sales. We also still have plenty of counties with blue laws. So do many places in the country. There are some good people in Mass, but I wouldn't live there...

I canceled my subscription to the Boston Globe this morning at 7:01, after more than 20 years. This was the absolute last straw.

BRAVO!

Just as it is here in your small but virulent neighbor, nothing is as it seems. I can cite some "best examples", Jane Swift and Buddy Cianci. Brown and Havard are no longer names said with respect. You've got Teddy and we've got his kid. You've got the Big Dig and we have Mafia Blue Cross. You've got Ptown and we have downtownP.
What is wrong with this picture?

"Fortunately, we saw (and heard) the footage on Fox News."
I was in Washington DC yesterday attending a convention at a major hotel just off the Mall. I called the front desk to complain that the hotel cable system did not offer Fox News. None of the three people I spoke with had ever heard of Fox News. It's a different world there.

"I've stopped reading newspapers,"

Good. Now if the rest of the Bush Admin stops recognizing them altogether, they will have caught up with those of us who long ago have decided that they are IRRELEVANT.

We are the new media.

Since I got to pay a nice chunk of my hard-earned life energy for your pretty little dig... It just makes me all warm inside to listen to the cute little smarmy Boston 'tude.

Well... I guess they call 'em Massholes for reason, don't they?

Ask them to bring the Washington Times as your morning paper instead of the Post, that really confuses them too.

I had a girlfriend from Nashville who thought Bostonians were cold and standoffish. I went to visit Nashville with her and I was annoyed at what I considered to be fake hospitality and insincere friendly behavior. It is just cultural perception I guess.

Still part of Red Sox Nation though. BTW- Buddy is both bad and good in my book. Not sure what to make of him.

Stopped my subscription to local liberal rag-Fort Worth Star-Telegram-two weeks ago. They sent me a survey card-why did I stop-I replied-bigger government, higher taxes, environmental half-truths bias to all your reporting. Goodbye after seven years-felt mighty good to hit them where it hurts. Can still get all the local news from their web site. Cancel!

Interesting. How do they get elected? Do you have big minority demographic, like NYC? And if so, why wouldn't the state legislature also be ultra lib?

Well, if in person you are anything like you are here, it probably was fake hospitality and insincere friendly behavior. Most people in this country don't care for Massholes. BTW, fake hospitality and insincere behavior is at least a level of respect. Massholes don't even have this level of respect.

Boston is barely still a majority white city. Very unusual for a major metropolitan area. Still have ethnic neighborhoods (though they are indanger from yuppiefication). But it seems the Asians (china town) and even some of the black carribean immigrants have signed on to the Irish/white ethnic machine.
