Americans are willing to "get naked" for their government if they feel it will make them more secure. That's the conclusion Jeffrey Rosen reached in his new book The Naked Crowd, which explores the willingness of Americans to abandon privacy for perceived security.

Hey, they can use that machine on me. It's no big thing. ;>}
I prefer to be stripped seached by the machine than stripped searched the old fashioned way. I have had the latter and it is not fun.
I can also choose to not get on the plane.
"those who would trade prudery for security deserve neither,"
:^)
Wanna buy some pics?
You said it, not me.
interesting article. I think the privacy concerns mentioned are quite valid, but I also think that horse left the barn a while ago.
For all intents and purposes, the data is already out there. Our lives are currently scattered among various databases and scoured for information on a regular basis. That will never go away. The only hope for privacy you may have is to drop out of society and go live on a mountain.
Yes, or win this war conclusively. How would Israel be if this machine screened every entrant to a restaurant or public transport. The only thing missing is a gun pointed at the heart of the screenee with instructions on the part of the screener to pull the trigger when explosive belts are found. You see, a few belted terrorists will destroy their share of these machines and it will be difficult to find employees.
Well, I dunno - I've been skeptical ever since I shelled out $2.95 for those X-ray glasses I saw advertised in the back of the comic book and never even saw one nekkid lady...
I wonder if this machine would show whether or not a woman has breast implants.
When people give up freedom for security they deserve -- and get -- neither.
Pre-date checkup?
I've seen pics from these machines. They really show everything, but I'm not sure I'd want to man one of those machines (some flab deserves to be hidden from human eyes).
I wonder if bringing these machines into use would bring about personal concerns for trying to attain weight loss by the moo-moo's who always seem to be munching on candy bars or eating junk food?
Having to man one of these machines would be TORTURE in its pure form.
By chance I saw parts of that TV show The Swan. Ordinary women made glamorous via surgery. They have the most revolting video of flabby fat stomachs on these women, prior to getting it surgically removed. I feel for these ladies, and would want to keep that hidden away from prying eyes.
Judging by the people I see crammed into shorts and stretch pants at the local Wal-Mart, I'd have to say no.
