PHOTOS AND REPORT ON DC CHAPTER FREEP OF LEFT AT RUMSFELD'S HOUSE

Across the street from Rumsfeld's house with French Embassy and their fence behind us, FReepers wait for leftists.  TgslTakoma has back to camera as she makes last minute signs.  Trueblackman discusses Iraq with a liberal on a bicycle.  Kristinn holds a sign behind Bmwcyle who is also holding a sign.

Even as Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld made a surprise visit to our troops in Iraq on Thursday, May 13, 2004, FReepers of DC Chapter conducted a surprise FReep of various leftists purporting to re-enact "torture" of Iraqi prisoners outside Rumsfeld's DC home. The stealth FReep by DC Chapter's special ops unit achieved total strategic and tactical surprise, leaving leftists looking like deer in the headlights on several occasions. The honor roll of FReepers at this gathering of eagles: tgslTakoma, Bmwcyle, Trueblackman, Jimmy Valentine's brother, Kristinn, and BillF.

DC Chapter FReepers gathered across the street from Rummy's, in front of the French Embassy's curved iron fence, and waited for the leftists. DC Police and other security forces were out in force as we waited. I think that Army or other military provide security for Rummy's house. Uniform officers of the Secret Service, who provide security for foreign embassies and diplomats, drove by numerous times.   Before the leftists march had arrived, a liberal guy on a bicycle stopped and argued with Trueblackman about Iraqi policy. A guy with a skateboard, who appeared to be a recon guy for the leftists, stood on our side of the street about 25 feet from us. As I videotaped some of the arriving leftists, skateboard guy had his video camera on me and my camera focused on him.   Until he "blinked" and turned his camera away from me,  we had several seconds of a video standoff from 25 feet.

Trueblackman, appropriately having an American flag above and behind him, continues to discuss Iraq with liberal.  The liberal was apparently not part of the demonstration, but agreed with much of the anti-war position.  Police car in background was one of numerous police cars nearby.

A very pregnant Rebecca Cooper, a local channel 7 reporter, walked by and talked to us before the arrival of the leftists.  As she observed a photo from the Berg murder on one of our signs, Cooper responded to one of our questions by saying that she had not seen the Berg torture murder video.  One of the FReepers told her that she should indeed wait until her child was born before viewing the video. 

Cooper smiled when I pointed to the Berg murder photo and said, "I sure hope that, if we catch any of these murders, we don't subject them to sleep deprivation to get the other killers or to prevent further murders like this.  I would be too upset to sleep if I found out that my government was waking these killers up at night. "

(DC Chapter co-leader Kristinn reports that Cooper had a quite fair report on the left's protest and our counter-protest on the 11 pm news that night.)

About 35 leftists gather in front of Rumsfeld's house.  Not visible are numerous security officers around the perimeter of the house.  Many of the cars in the photo are likely unmarked police and security cars. (Unfortunately, the above was the only photo of the leftists where my camera's auto-focus worked.)

The leftists included members of Code Pink, DC Anti-War Network, and Shirts Off. The latter group apparently is concerned that the cost of the war is taking the shirt off their backs, whereas they believe that such high government spending is not justified for liberating another country and safeguarding our country. Instead, they want the monies transferred to education, healthcare, and federal daycare for pets. Leftists planned to re-enact the Iraqi prisoner "torture" at Dupont Circle, at least ten blocks south of Rumsfeld's house, before marching to Rummy's place and re-enacting all over again. However, the re-enactors apparently decided not to do the re-enactments at Dupont Circle, but waited until they were at Rummy's before they performed their bizarre show.  Unfortunately for them, more than half of them of the one hundred or so leftists at Dupont Circle did not make the march to Rummy's.  Numerous of the leftists in the march had signs with photographs of  the "torture."  Some of the marchers who dropped out are said to have been inspired by the "torture" photos to book passage to Iraq in hopes of becoming U.S. prisoners there.  Other march dropouts are rumored to have been inspired to go to Barney Frank's house.  We could not where any of the march dropouts went.

As the leftists arrived at Rumsfeld's, numerous reporters were with them.  The leftists were chanting in a pattern common to the leftists.  A leader shouts something, followers (F) respond.  (This pattern had been emphasized to DC Chapter FReepers last year by a helpful police officer as noted in box at right below.)

So, it was: Leader: "U.S.!" Followers: "OUT!" Leader: "RUMSFELD!" Followers: "OUT!" ad infinitum, ad nauseum. Then, when the leftists arrived fully on scene, they stopped chanting. tgslTakoma immediately shouted:  YOU SUPPORT THE DEATH OF INNOCENT AMERICANS! [Leftists became frozen like deer in the headlights.  They, and the press around them, instantly turn their heads and focus on the FReepers.] YOU GIVE YOUR UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE IRAQI RESISTANCE! YOU HAVE BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS! When tgslTakoma stopped momentarily, and per Jimmy Valentine's brother's pre-FReep chant suggestion, I started chanting:  GIVE RUMMY A RAISE! Other FReepers joined in.  It took several seconds and numerous Rummy chants before the leftists recovered sufficiently to start chanting again.

HELPFUL POLICE OFFICER TELLS FREEPERS HOW TO CHANT The leader-follower pattern of chants used by the leftists had been emphasized to DC Chapter FReepers last year by a helpful police officer.  When waiting for leftists near the White House in exceptionally cold weather, FReepers started chanting "WE WANT GLOBAL WARMING!"  A police officer,  sensing a need for help,  suggested that the chant had to have a leader who would call out, followed by a response from the rest.  Following the kind suggestions of the officer,  FReepers tried to keep warm by repeatedly chanting: Leader: WHAT DO WE WANT? Followers: GLOBAL WARMING. Leader: WHEN DO WE WANT IT? Followers: NOW! . . .

This led to a shouting match between FReepers and leftists.

When the leftists chanted NO BLOOD FOR OIL, Bmwcycle shouted YOU SHOULD BE FACING THE FRENCH EMBASSY WITH THAT CHANT!

tgslTakoma shouted AL- QAEDA THANKS YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!  (I'll try to post a reply with a Reuters photo of tgslTakoma in action.)

One of the Code Pink leaders,  believed to be Gael Murphy, came up to confront Kristinn and the police made her go back to her group.  This was the subject of an AP photograph.  (I'll try to post a reply with that photo.)

 

Once some leftist guy came over to argue with Kristinn, "Get out of my face! Go back to your group," Kristinn told him.  When the leftist refused, Bmwcyle called an officer.  The officer told the guy, "OK, man, let's go." The leftist walked back to his comrades. On one of the two occasions when a leftist was ordered by the police to step away from our demonstration (we had a permit) and get out of our faces, the leftist or comrades apparently demanded police badge numbers and raised a stink.  Within 15 minutes or so of their arrival, the leftists slithered off into the night.  They had largely lost their press as many of the reporters had begun interviewing FReepers. Kristinn talks on the phone.  The guy on the right was looking for a restaurant suitable for his girlfriend's birthday on a different day.  He saw the leftists march and followed out of curiosity,
ending up with us as he agreed with the U.S. liberation of Iraq.  Bmwcyle talked to him quite a bit and may have recruited a new FReeper.

 

The police were professional and courteous, as they almost always are in dealings with FReepers. (See last photo, which shows tgslTakoma chatting amicably with an officer.)  I mention this for two reasons.  First, we had a couple disagreements  with the police in the past two months.  It's important that FReepers in other locations appreciate that friction between DC FReepers and police is relatively rare.  Second, last week was National Police Week and everyone should keep in mind that police are on the front line in both the war on terrorism and their activities protecting us from criminals. 

With the leftists gone, FReepers packed up their signs and left.  Several of us moved to an undisclosed location for food, drink, and plotting of further peaceful actions against U.S.-based friends of Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden.

DC Chapter has just begun a STEALTH, NO advance notice, FReep of the Code Pink and other leftists who are at Rumsfeld's house in Northwest DC to re-enact "torture" of Iraqi prisoners. Some stalwart members of the DC Chapter have gathered peacefully to counter the leftists.

In addition to the local channel 7 report that Kristinn observed to be a fair rendition of the night's events, I saw Greg Kelly of Fox News report on Washington developments in the prison abuse scandal during Fox & Friends on Friday, May 14.  He showed a few seconds of the leftists at Rumsfeld's house and, very briefly showed, tgslTakoma, Trueblackman, Jimmy Valentine's brother and Bmwcyle, who was largely obscured by JVB. Additionally, one AP photo and one Reuters photo showed FReepers.  I'll try to include those photos in a reply post.

Like you, my camera had focusing problems when turned on the leftists.

I'm surprised you folks didn't realize what was happening. Then again, maybe it's something that's only known to military folks.

For years - all the Soviets built were blurry airplanes, as evidenced by our early intelligence pictures of their aircraft. None of them were built in a sharply focused manner.

The leftists are simply using old Soviet aircraft technology - maybe as a sort of tribute to their ideal government system.

I can't translate the words on the interviewer's mike

OK. Let me take a close look at it..... The first letter is an "o" with an umlaut over it.

The entire 5 letters apparently read "ojell"

This translates to "jello". (Pig Latin is one of the root languages of Arabic).

The umlauts are a recent addition to written Arabic. They were added in the 1930's to honor the native language of some one or the other of the European leaders of that era whom the Arabs greatly admired.

I know all this to be true because I used to listen to Doctor Science broadcasts.
