Neither do I. I buy exceptional quality and made in the US. You may pay a little more but you get what you pay for. I have a blender that is 30 years old made in USA it makes my margaritas every weekend. I just bought another set of craftsman tools (I needed some specialty tools I did not have) made in USA, guaranteed forever. Great they last. My wife's Honda is a great ute, well made and good engineering. I have found that insisting on American made is good for this country and for my family.

I'm just gonna say -- there are all kinds of justice in this world, and this is one of them.

A Georgian (near Armenia) proverb: "Great nations plan for generations, poor ones plan for Saturday night".

Does this line strike y'all as very PJ O'Rourke-esque?

I agree. It is beautiful watching karma in motion.

Companies which sacrifice long-term health for short term profit fail in the marketplace.

Maybe. But CEOs/shareholders can line their pockets and jump the ship before it happens. If they need they can move to another company to scoop it up.

Probably PJ O'Rourke was translated into Georgian. :)

Carly (SP?) the CEO of HP left Lucent a train wreck when she left and with a golden parachute no less. The company still has not recovered.

It is impossible. "Present CEO" is by definition the one who did not jump yet.

Pole, you're going about this all wrong. Rather than trying to outlaw "outsourcing", you really need to concentrate on the root of the problem: The steamship. If you could just get rid of those great, hulking beasts, then the world would be set to rights. Oceans would be oceans again.

You'll also need to get rid of the telephone. All that ever leads to is the life-sucking internet.

...and refined silicon. It's nothing but trouble; can only lead to factory automation.

Between states of the United States, I am for it.

Why?

Between nations, I am against it.

Why?

I have been a contractor ar HP, I would not want to work for them either. They treat everyone like a Borg drone.

Try CSC.

No, PJ would never disparage the planning of a Saturday night.

You apparently buy things out of "loyalty". I buy things based on - gasp! - cost and quality.

So I take it you have no problem financing China's military? What about buying oil from Saddam in the 90's? Would if be okay if he was producing a better oil at a cheaper price?

Is surfing porn worse than making porn in the office?

Is this a "hypothetical" question you're asking posed by your "friend"? :)
