Put bluntly, anyone who says he has a well-formed conscience that stands opposed to the most fundamental moral teachings of our Church simply does NOT have a well-formed conscience.AWESOME.

In the end, however, it would be personal opinion that would win out over divinely revealed truth. This way of thinking effectively does away with any meaningful notion of conscience and reduces everything to personal preference.
Non-Catholic, hitting the nail on the head bump! Welcome to secular and/or sorta kinda faithful, religious America - where everything is relative (mostly), Mr. Bishop.

This is a powerful apology that would make St. Thomas Aquinas proud. Colorado may be forming a new saint for our benighted age.

Amazing. Yesterday, during Mass, the pastor had the homily about being a responisible voter. Then these booklets
Voter Guide for the Serious Catholic
were handed out to each person as they walked out the church door. Gives me great hope that the church is finally getting the word out..finally.

I don't think this headline does justice to what he is saying. Glad the bishop is standing up for the truth.

This way of thinking comes as no surprise if we simply take note of the fact that everyone receives Holy Communion on Sunday and almost no one goes to confession. Excellent analysis by this Bishop. It sounds to me like he is fed up and disgusted (like the rest of us) with these liberal Catholics who think that they can sin all week long and then still receive Our Lord on Sunday. As he mentions, these people DO NOT have a well-informed conscience. God Bless him for having the courage to say what the rest of us have been saying for years!

If you are fed up with attacks on the Church and phony claims of being a practicing Catholic from Kerry, join us:
catholicsagainstkerry.com
We're not sitting around wringing our hands. We're doing something to stop this real and present danger to Catholic values.
We need Catholics to come forward and stand up against these attacks. What greater danger could our values be in than to have a major party nominate such an anti Catholic man as John Kerry?
We need "on the ground" coordinators. Go to the site, get the info, and take a step for the protection of the Church.

Is the title to this correct?
To: Coleus
Sorry - never mind - I misread it... twice...
To: Stone Mountain
The full title is:
"Bishop Sheridan responds to his critics without backing down: Pro-abortion politicians are no worse than the pro-abortion voters who elect them to office"

How, in fact, could I deny anyone Holy Communion since I would not know the condition of the communicants soul? Why wasn't Kerry excommunicated the last time he voted against the ban on partial birth abortion? At that particular time, there was no question at all about the condition of his alleged soul.
