REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — When it came time to cross-examine the receptionist from Laci Peterson's obstetrician's office, Mark Geragos leaned forward on the defense table and grinned.
The young woman had just testified that no one called the office about the slain mother-to-be Christmas Eve, but she could not be sure about Dec. 26 because she had taken a sick day.
Geragos paused just long enough for every juror to turn toward him and his client, and then deadpanned, "Were you really sick the day after Christmas?"
The courtroom erupted in laughter....

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Police used helicopters, boats, ATVs, horses, dogs, divers and numerous volunteers in their efforts to find Laci Peterson, two officers testified Wednesday at her husband's capital murder trial.
Modesto police sergeants Ronald Cloward and Timothy Helton detailed the extensive, but ultimately fruitless, search to find the mother-to-be, who vanished Christmas Eve 2002.
Asked by prosecutor Rick Distaso if finding the 27-year-old woman was like "finding a needle in a haystack," Cloward replied, "That was exactly what it was like. It was difficult.".......

Geragos says Laci complained to officials about nearby homeless mission

REDWOOD CITY -- Forty-seven of Modesto's registered sex offenders listed a homeless mission near Scott and Laci Peterson's house as their official residence, a Modesto police sergeant testified Wednesday.
Defense attorney Mark Geragos said Laci Peterson had complained to city officials because the homeless people from the mission often used her residential street to get to a nearby park; she wanted the city to close the Covena Avenue park entrance.
Appearing in full dress uniform, his sunglasses hanging from a strap on his shoulder, Modesto police Sgt. Ron Cloward took the witness stand Wednesday for the prosecution. He confirmed that he had received an e-mail about Laci Peterson's concerns over "transients" on her street, but that none of their efforts to locate the sex offenders led to any evidence of her disappearance........

Yes, but I would not recommend someone named "piquaboy" taking a tour of Scott's jail. I've heard gossip that 1) Scott is currently horny, and 2)that Scott swings both ways.

Do you think this new evidence is something the prosecution has just found and Gregaros needs to study it, or could it possibly be something that Gregaros thinks he has and needs more time.
I just have a feeling it is Gregaros trying to pull another "I know who did it and now have the proof."
For sure Spunky. The Jurors are not supposed to even discuss the case amongst themselves. I think this guy will be replaced yet.
I'll bet Juror No. 5's ex-wife would disagree with you on that. And if he's thrown off the jury, I'll bet the media will dig her up (oh, I mean, find her--not dig her up--poor choice of words.)

If someone killed Laci and wanted to frame Scott for it, why on EARTH wouldn't they just dump/leave the body in his home, his yard, his pool, his warehouse?? Why would they risk driving 90 miles with a dead body???

As CO says, it's been reported that police found an album of Scott's and Laci's wedding pictures in a trash can at one of the two warehouses Scott rented. I remember this from several articles, but I don't think it's come into testimony yet.
If it has to be explained to you, it's probably not going to sink in.
I still think that we just got the tail end of what the juror was saying. He said something, and the sentence ended with "you're going to lose today" or "we're going to lose today" or maybe "they're going to lose today." And (on the video) Brent smiled broadly in response, then hurried on his way. B/C Brent smiled, in apparent reaction to some pleasantry, I don't think what Nutball No. 5 said was anything insulting.
