The United States Government: Patron of Islam?
Middle East Quarterly ^ | January 2002 | Daniel Pipes and Mimi Stillman

Posted on 06/19/2004 4:33:22 PM PDT by combat_boots

Albright spoke of Americans' "appalling degree of ignorance" about Islam.56 Hillary Clinton wrote that "we, as a society, too often mischaracterize Islam and those who adhere to its teachings."57

Hillary Clinton fretted that "news stories about Muslims often focus on extremists like those responsible for the World Trade Center bombing and other acts of terrorism."61 Albright waxed indignant about stereotypes applied "to a quarter of the globe's people." These figured "every day in the press, in public discussions, and even among those who consider themselves knowledgeable and fair-minded."62 In short, there is a battle over U.S. opinion, and officialdom has the duty of enlightening a benighted populace.

Samuel R. Berger, Clinton's assistant for National Security Affairs, alluded to this when he explained why his boss spoke so often on this subject: because "many Americans are naive about Islam." The president, he said, "made a conscious effort to dispel the old stereotypes of Islam ... as a hotbed of fanaticism and terrorism ... to overcome such prejudices and forge common cause for the things we all care about in the future: peace, self-respect, and cooperation."63

I wish to request that folks read and search for the quotations made at the Eid festivals. Please look at the footnotes. Remarks made by the Clintons can no longer be found anywhere on the internet that I can see. Their only record is in the footnotes. Please pay attention.

I wish to preserve this record. Even the 57 Hillary Clinton, "Islam in America,"The Chicago Sun-Times, Feb. 25, 1996 reference is gone, let alone those from State.gov. Bush's remarks remain.

Please copy and save to zip disks whatever articles and words may prove useful in upcoming elections.

"Islam is Peace" Says President Bush
Remarks by the President at Islamic Center of Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C.

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you all very much for your hospitality. We've just had a -- wide-ranging discussions on the matter at hand. Like the good folks standing with me, the American people were appalled and outraged at last Tuesday's attacks. And so were Muslims all across the world. Both Americans and Muslim friends and citizens, tax-paying citizens, and Muslims in nations were just appalled and could not believe what we saw on our TV screens.

These acts of violence against innocents violate the fundamental tenets of the Islamic faith. And it's important for my fellow Americans to understand that.

The English translation is not as eloquent as the original Arabic, but let me quote from the Koran, itself: In the long run, evil in the extreme will be the end of those who do evil. For that they rejected the signs of Allah and held them up to ridicule.

The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That's not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace. These terrorists don't represent peace. They represent evil and war.

When we think of Islam we think of a faith that brings comfort to a billion people around the world. Billions of people find comfort and solace and peace. And that's made brothers and sisters out of every race -- out of every race.

America counts millions of Muslims amongst our citizens, and Muslims make an incredibly valuable contribution to our country. Muslims are doctors, lawyers, law professors, members of the military, entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, moms and dads. And they need to be treated with respect. In our anger and emotion, our fellow Americans must treat each other with respect.

Women who cover their heads in this country must feel comfortable going outside their homes. Moms who wear cover must be not intimidated in America. That's not the America I know. That's not the America I value.

I've been told that some fear to leave; some don't want to go shopping for their families; some don't want to go about their ordinary daily routines because, by wearing cover, they're afraid they'll be intimidated. That should not and that will not stand in America.

Those who feel like they can intimidate our fellow citizens to take out their anger don't represent the best of America, they represent the worst of humankind, and they should be ashamed of that kind of behavior.

This is a great country. It's a great country because we share the same values of respect and dignity and human worth. And it is my honor to be meeting with leaders who feel just the same way I do. They're outraged, they're sad. They love America just as much as I do.

I want to thank you all for giving me a chance to come by. And may God bless us all.

There is no way these pigs can hide everything from those who seek truth!

But I did notice the lack of the sun times!

The reason the times is NOT on there - american newspapers have sued google for removal of all their archives citing "copyright infringement" shades of FR!

This way, nobody can prove they printed anything! The only archives will be their own that they can manipulate anyway they want.

ever wonder WHY those certain communist backed rags here in the US have sued FR with 'cease & desist' on showing their stories??

That is why I have my own archives of pertinent & important news articles.

In the same vein, Steplock- this photo has also disappeared from the internet.

It was once found on the WashPost having appeared 9/19/97 there on pg. 11 in the Style section in a gossip column!

It does not exist there any more.

It was also found on the site for Carly Simon's daughter's band, "The Boogies", with whome he is hamming it up as a pimp with in the photo.

That site has disappeared.

Do you think that if this photo hadn't been flushed down the memory hole klyntyn would have become known as the "first black president"?

I doubt it.

I, like you, have kept this and other docs on my own site- safe from the sanitation squad.

Thank you for posting these alarming remarks by Bush. I just forced myself to watch the beheading of Nick Berg on Michael Savage's website and read there another authoritative and accurate article about Allah's command that Muslims cut the necks of the infidels, and George Bush, that means you, unless you have completely gone over to the dark side, as I fear from your oft repeated blasphemy against the God of the Bible, who you say you worship.

All these politicians from Hillary to Al bright to Bush either want the American people to remain ignorant of the teachings of Mohamed and his unvarnished biography or they themselves are so deluded, either through willful ignorance or unsoundness of mind, as to be rendered an enemy of the nation if they want us to respect Islam and view it as benign. In either case, we, the American people, cannot allow our nation to be lead by those who are beguiled or the beguiling. Who is going to be the first group to wake up to the reality that Islam is evil in its teachings, its prophet's example, its intents, its vicious and cunning methods of expansions and subjugation and DENOUNCE it? Will it be liberals, conservatives, Christians, independents, or Jews? I don't know and I'm fatidic, but I do know that it is just a matter of time...and those who know must spread the truth as quickly and boldly and accurately as we can.

Anyone with any brain at all would know that the Quran and the Bible both can not be true. One has to be a falsehood.
Pitiful Albright, Clinton, and pitiful Bush too, so what are we going to do?

At a mall out south of Olathe, Kansas I passed another car in the parking lot with a head scarf in the passenger seat. The male driver tried the staring trick as I drove by - as i was an American infidel out in public and not properly covered up.

I'll be damed if i have to cow tow to foreign savage, anti-christian infidels who come to my country and give me the evil eye. Head scarves are a political statement and are a defacto cultural hegemony. A head scarf is not a religious or cultural garment. Once it serves a political purposes it is fair game. Foreign islamic babes who hide behind the scarf are asking for trouble. Hiding behind their husband's cultural "wishes" won't wash in Kansas.

Every American who grasps the significance of the prophet Mohammed's biographical example to Muslims and the teachings of the Koran has the responsibility to share this info at every appropriate opportunity and with as little emotion as possible. Most Americans simply do not want to confront the danger Islam poses and the manipulative and duplicitous methods Muslims employ with great apparent sincerity. Though human nature resists accepting such alarming threats to our existence, sustained effort will eventually lead to a factual understanding of the Islamic threat to America.
