Iran seeks swap of Brits for suicide attackers

Report says 40 Revolutionary Guard 'volunteers' held by UK

Iran apprehended British military personnel and Navy vessels earlier this week in order to secure release of 40 "suicide operations volunteers" held by the UK, according to an Iranian Revolutionary Guard source.

The source told the London Arabic-language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that the British Army command in Iraq received the demand from the Revolutionary Guard, reported the Middle East Media Research Institute.

According to the source, the content of the message was very simple: "Release our comrades, whom you are holding, and we will release your soldiers."

There are false reports blaming the bombing of the Turkish Hilton on "Marxists". Please don't be fooled. Don't let others be fooled. The bombings this morning in Iraq and Turkey were linked to confrim the ability to syncronize bombings in multiple countries.
I would venture you will see upcoming bombings in Iraqi, Turkish, Saudi Arabian cities (of course) and additional bombings in Russia, Bosnia/Kosovo, Madrid (again), Netherlands, Belgium (for good measure), Germany (conservative wins in Germany), several African Countries (Morocco, Algeria, Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Nigeria), Sydney, Canberra, NYC, Washington D.C.,, Miami, LA, San Francisco, Detroit, and Oklahoma City (again, without a patsy) Toronto/Ottowa (Conseravative gains).
Now maybe this is quite obvious, maybe it's not. There are no coincidences in terrorism.
Just my analysis/conjecture, for what it's worth.

Health Officials Fear New Mosquito Disease
By DANIEL YEE
Associated Press Writer

ATLANTA (AP) -- As if West Nile virus wasn't bad enough, now U.S. health officials are on the lookout for another mosquito-borne disease, fearing it could become a permanent part of the American landscape if it entered the country.

Rift Valley fever, which originated in Africa and hasn't been seen outside that continent in three years, is the only disease at the top of both human health and agriculture lists of dangerous diseases.

The virus can kill people, with a near 1 percent mortality rate, making it deadlier than West Nile. But Rift Valley poses a greater threat to cattle and sheep.

It kills up to 30 percent of the livestock it infects and if it were found in animals here, it would probably prompt livestock bans by other countries.

"This is not a disease that occurs here now, but we want to make sure people are aware of the signs and symptoms," said Dr. Thomas Ksiazek, chief of the special pathogens branch of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "The medical and public health community need to be mindful of it."

Most people get a flu-like illness when infected. Some may develop serious symptoms, including liver or kidney disease, Ksiazek said.

About 14 percent of those seriously ill with Rift Valley fever in previous outbreaks died. West Nile kills about 10 percent of those with serious complications, such as brain inflammation.

The virus is worrisome because at least 30 species of mosquitoes are capable of carrying it from cattle or sheep to humans, far more than the kind of mosquitoes that can carry West Nile. People also can catch it by handling the blood or fluids of an infected animal.

Scientists said that Rift Valley fever was being researched as a possible weapon during the Cold War and showed promise because of its stability in an aerosol form.

Despite the concern, health and agricultural officials have been slow to prepare for Rift Valley, said Dr. Corrie Brown, a professor of veterinary pathology at the University of Georgia and a member of the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture's advisory committee for animal and poultry diseases.

"I think people weren't very worried about it until we started to think about agri-terror," Brown said.

The disease could appear here as mysteriously as West Nile, which first showed up as the culprit in the unexplained deaths of birds in New York in 1999.

The virus was first identified in a 1930 sheep outbreak in Kenya's Rift Valley in eastern Africa. For the next 70 years, it remained on the continent, emerging for the first time outside of Africa in outbreaks in Saudi Arabia and Yemen in 2000. In those cases, about 100 people died and 800 became ill.

Luckily, the virus seems to have disappeared, and there have been no new cases outside of Africa since 2001.

Rift Valley fever is one of several emerging viruses being studied by the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. One focus is better vaccines, since there is no approved vaccine for people or livestock in case of an outbreak, Ksiazek said. The military developed a vaccine that has been approved for testing in people.

"It would really be hard to control this without a vaccine," said Dr. C.J. Peters, director of the biodefense center at UTMB in Galveston.

Gozilla,
Here are some of the guidelines I use when evaluating an Arabic language posting.

1. Who is the poster? How long have they been posting? If it's a newbie on the Arabic forum, I take with a HUGE grain of salt.

2. What is the poster's track record? There are some posters who have provided good intel; others are copying what they've seen; and many are just out in fantasy land. Some had a track record of trying to yank the chains of the west - because they know we are watching.

3. Where is it posted? Multiple forums or just one place?

4. Does it sound plausible? There is very little chance a poster would have REAL advance knowledge of natural events.

These aren't failsafes but are among the guidelines I use in evaluating an Arabic posting. About 95% of the postings I see on the forums, I read and take note of, but don't type up a translation because I don't deem it credible.

"We had a phenomenal fireworks display," Bully-Cummings said. "Unfortunately, we also had an incident where eight people were shot."

Now there's someone who knows how to put it all in perspective! Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the show?

My life has never been the same since either, WestCoastGal. I agree with you. So many have moved on from there in the negative sense. They still must feel that we are invincible and should regress back to pre-911 mode. I betcha that is what Rome thought in their day, too.

I worked in NYC during the first WTC bombing and was in the Towers a few weeks after for a disaster recovery program the company I worked for was offering for the business tenants of the building. There was a helluva lot of smoke damage to the building and to tenants even on the high floors. It appeared that only NYers and us commuting workers took it seriously. As soon as I arrived back home on that February day -- just 30 or so miles east at the time -- it was as if I walked into another world. Long Islanders with no ties to NYC had no reaction to the first bombing; NYC is a world away for many people in the burbs.

As a related aside, I found the same non-reaction outside NYC during the Rodney King debacle. It was one of the few times that most businesses in NYC closed early -- so workers could get home safely. There was only a bit of trouble in NYC, but the rumors were abounding that people were being killed in the streets, at Penn Station, etc., just the same. I could not leave right away and when I did, Penn was packed and was full of panic. The trains had difficulty leaving because people were squeezing themselves into every available inch of space on the trains out of fear. NYC was under fear that day.

After surviving a crowd stampede incident in a stairwell leading down to the train platform, I realized how people really can get smothered and trampled on and left for dead in crowds. I was caught with so many others in a stairwell on the stairs and although I was not not moving myself -- the crowd was making everybody move -- I was being moved forward above the steps while stuffed underneath someone's armpit and I could not breath for awhile. It was quite scary. Every space at Penn had the same situation. There wa sno crowd control present.

Looks of panic were on people's faces and as soon as I got home I turned on the news to see what was what and there was very little on the news about what was happening in NY with the business' closing, the rumors rampant and the crowds scared because of what was transpiring in California. My family who lived even further away than I from NYC called me later on and they had no clue was was happening there. Even after I told them, they did not truly comprehend because it was a day where you had to be there and be a NYC resident or a commuter, I suppose.

Now that I recall it, it is funny to me that I was reminding my family about this right before 911, how NYC was scared and fearful with reason and then 911 happenened.

911 stirred people everywhere no matter if they had ties to NYC and PA and the Pentagon and airlines or not -- but as you point out -- too much is reverting back to the pre-911 world.

That's why we're all here, to compliment each other's strengths. If we all knew the same things, only one of us would be necessary. :)

Don't go wiping TOO much off your brow, there are plenty of other things to be concerned about.

Great, and translations take time. Your estimate - of the 5% you translate, how many have actually resulted in something solid after the test of time?

While we on this thread (and FR, actually) will NEVER forget 9/11, I agree with you that a lot have forgotten 9/11.

What do we do to get the media to remind the sheeple that terrorist attacks are worse than underwear placed on a prisoner's head???

Personally, I think the beheadings, death and destruction should be broadcast. It's easy for the sheeple to forget something that they've never seen.

"# the hitting influence extent on the directions of the falcons . The attack's success depends on the wind direction. Detonated at the right spot on the border, the fallout could go any direction, except SW, and hit America."

A number of threads back there was a tie in with the word falcon to certain airlines. This could also be interpreted to reflect their using planes again but the idea of a purchased megaton nuke crossing the Mexican border and due to location having a maximum fallout potential is a real concern. The smaller backpack nukes would have a regional effect unless there really are 30-40 of them as NEIN estimated.

Agreed. This morning the local crop duster came by (overhead) dusting the neighbors field. I wonder how many other people in America would actually wonder what they were then breathing after that? A few TM'rs maybe? I did.

I wake up every morning now wondering if something has happened or will happen. That day affected me more than any other that I can remember.

I was born in NYC and therefore, have a love for it. Not that that matters, any US city attacked would bring the same reaction from me.

It was a day of every emotion possible. FEAR, sadness, disbelief, anger. It just took my breath away when the towers fell. I can hear the noise, see the smoke still to this day.

I sat in front of the TV all day and for the next 3 days I think, still bewildered as to HOW this could happen. The first day they closed almost everything here, it was amazing.

I periodically went outside that first day to look at the sky after the ground stop. Unbelievable, I thought that I would never see such a thing!

I just can't imagine how some can forget that day. And, that it will happen again. And, that they don't want to do everything possible to stop it.

Not a Word about the silence.

When the station came back on the comment was "that was the weekly test".

but then Hart thinks all this didn't happen and it is all
Bush's fault.

If something does happen we can rest in peace that we (FR & TM) did our best.

In my estimation, the sheeple in this country who may wind up dead from an attack can blame the DUmmies and liberal media for putting them under their hypnotic spell of lies and deception just for political gain.
