Iran seeks swap of Brits for suicide attackers

Report says 40 Revolutionary Guard 'volunteers' held by UK

Iran apprehended British military personnel and Navy vessels earlier this week in order to secure release of 40 "suicide operations volunteers" held by the UK, according to an Iranian Revolutionary Guard source.

The source told the London Arabic-language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that the British Army command in Iraq received the demand from the Revolutionary Guard, reported the Middle East Media Research Institute.

According to the source, the content of the message was very simple: "Release our comrades, whom you are holding, and we will release your soldiers."

It seems to me that the attacks come about 1 1/2 days after we expect them to hit.

By delaying it they get in a couple more days of fear.

Or even better (from their viewpoint) the whipsaw of fear-relief-fear.

The classic horror movie formula.

What's that noise?
Oh, it's only the cat!
(turns around) YAAHHH!

There is that, I suppose...

No, you are right. There was no specifics on location or if the belly dancer was symbolic.

There has been a lot of anxiety on the effects of a terror attack on this country and a lot of folks feel isolated and alone and maybe somewhat unprepared in relation to what other freepers seem to be doing. Well I asked JustPiper about posting this letter for y'all and she has encouraged me to do so. I first posted this on FR in 1998 at the height of the paranoia on what Clinton was going to do if Y2K had been the meltdown that a lot of folks thought it was going to be. There were fears of FEMA (I still have those, in case you haven't noticed) and those Executive Orders (those are STILL there, too). But I want you guys to know we are NOT alone and there are many many people out there who will do anything to preserve this nation.

Anyway, a buddy of mine in the SpecOps community encouraged me to read this letter written in a newspaper printed in Fayettville, NC (The Home of the Special warfare School at Fort Bragg) the paper is called "The Resister" and you'll see why. This letter was an editorial, and who knows, my buddy may well have written it.

An open letter from a 'Green Beret'

The Resister: The Political Warfare Journal of the Special Forces Underground
Spring 1998 'Defector in Place--USSOCOM'

This letter is addressed to old family Reds, central bankers, military traitors (past and present), academia, media pundits, "civil rights" activists, and "Greens." Your worst fears are justified; Special Forces Underground is real. It's not just a subtitle on the Resister's masthead. Worse for you, is that it's not just in Special Forces. It exists in all branches of the military, in federal agencies, among civilians, and in several foreign countries.

I am an old Special Forces active duty soldier. I've worked with people in all branches of the military, alphabet soup federal agencies, police departments, and civilians. While most people I've worked with are passive supporters of resistance to your "global community," there are some who are willing to actively defend what they believe in.

I will continue to perform my appointed military duties in a professional manner. I will publicly agree with your collectivist policies and parrot your slogans. I pay my taxes, don't belong to any "militia," and won't join any "extremist" group. For all outside appearances I am one of your "global community" peasants.

Having traveled extensively I have seen firsthand the results of failed collectivist governments who have looted their countries into squalor. Most politically attuned people I know have seen it also and know that the only way you can achieve your global community is by doing the same to America. Some think resistance is futile. Maybe it is. But we are willing to fight you, and make you pay DEARLY for your arrogance. We are moral, principled, and believe in the ORIGINAL Constitution and the philosophies that define it.

You see, your mistake was that you thought we'd just mumble our oath and then contradict it when ordered to. but YOU,--you promoters of the "brotherhood of mankind"--are the enemies domestic we are sworn to defend the Constitution against. We didn't choose you as the enemy. By your collectivist ideologies and actions, you self selected.

We pray to the God you SCORN that the day never arrives when we are finally compelled to turn against you, what you expected us to do to enemies foreign. If that day does arise, lament. For I, and others like me, have been trained in the blackest of arts, and the darkest of crafts. Your minions are useless cattle. They cannot protect you. You cannot hide.

WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE, but you'll NEVER know whether der guten soldat you hired is one of us---or not. So, to all you altruist-collectivist global citizens:

"YOU WILL FIND NO JOY IN YOUR NEW WORLD ORDER."

ExSoldier again: In the original 1998 version I created this as it's own thread and some freeper attached a music file that played the Ballad of the Green Berets every time somebody opened the thread. Do a google (An Open Letter From A Green Beret) and you can see the reactions of freepers then.

Now, imagine these guys coming after terrorists inside our country. Or for that matter any government that got too full of itself and too "big fer it's britches."

PS: The e-mail listed for me as a tagline is long gone. That was like four isp's ago. LOL

It came from the NY DC LA attack originally from Debka. They were the only ones to report that story in the beginning.

Plan for terrorist attack in U.S. is well advanced, Ashcroft says

Attorney General John Ashcroft said in Miami that a terrorist attack on U.S. soil is likely before the presidential election and that vigilance in South Florida is high.

BY JAY WEAVER
jweaver@herald.com

Attorney General John Ashcroft issued a warning in Miami on Wednesday that the terrorists behind the deadly assaults of Sept. 11, 2001, are ``between 75 and 90 percent complete with their planning for a major attack against the United States this year.''

But he offered no specifics.

Ashcroft recalled the significance of South Florida in al Qaeda's operations: 14 of the 19 hijacking suspects lived in local homes and motels as they plotted the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and the Pentagon.

The region, with its ports, airports and millions of visitors, cannot be ruled out as a possible target or base of operations, he said.

''In South Florida, we're very much aware of not only the target value of such an important area, but also the fact that it could be a place where others would be in support of activities to be undertaken at another target,'' Ashcroft said at a news conference at the U.S. attorney's office in Miami.

``With that in mind, we are at a high level of intensity.''

Ashcroft, who has drawn criticism for some of his actions in the U.S. war on terrorism, met with local, state and federal law-enforcement officials who are part of the Southern District of Florida Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council. It consists of 158 agencies, from the Aventura Police Department to the Broward Sheriff's Office to the FBI.

Ashcroft met later Wednesday with officials in Tallahassee as part of a cross-country tour to visit with 93 U.S. attorneys' offices and boost the government's anti-terrorism campaign.

Miami Police Chief John Timoney, who recalled being a vocal critic of the U.S. government's sharing of post-9/11 information when he was chief in Philadelphia, praised the cooperation.

He said the terrorist threats cited by Ashcroft were authentic, based on his review of intelligence information.

''I have been privy to information I can't discuss,'' said Timoney, who sits on the antiterrorism advisory council. ``But there is a certain amount of specificity in the [al Qaeda] chatter in regards to what people are trying to do, and it's enough to concern me.''

U.S. Attorney Marcos Jimenez, who chairs the council, echoed Timoney's views.

''We have credible intelligence about threats before the [presidential] election,'' Jimenez said, rejecting a television reporter's characterization of Ashcoft's appearance as a ``dog and pony show.''

''I've had the classified briefings,'' Jimenez said. ``These are not dog and pony shows.''

The Bush administration suffered a serious setback in two major cases this week when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it went too far in locking up terrorism suspects and denying them access to U.S. courts.

The court's rulings will affect the case of Jose Padilla, a U.S. citizen of Puerto Rican descent who has been in custody without charges for two years because he was suspected of participating in a radioactive, or ''dirty,'' bomb plot. Padilla, held in a South Carolina naval brig, plans to challenge his detention.

According to law-enforcement sources, federal prosecutors in Miami are weighing whether to indict Padilla, a former Broward County resident, on charges of providing financial assistance to a terrorist group run by an Egyptian sheik convicted of plotting to blow up New York City landmarks.

Ashcroft and Jimenez declined to comment about Padilla's case.
