The Differance between the Marine Corps and the US Army

Posted on 06/24/2004 7:35:57 AM PDT by ma bell

This is the differance between the mighty mighty Marine Corps and the obsolete US Army (of course, take the ribbing to heart Army...:) yes, I know, we are part of the Department of Navy, but it is the Mens Department.

You know how to do "Inspection, Arms!"?

Short or long?

My family is divided between Army, Navy and Marine Corps and almost every one of us served. Your characterization of the Army is, in a word, bullshit.

In the Army, we are trained to close on and kill the enemy. We were not trained to be manservants for the Marine Corps. So somebody isn't telling you the truth and when the hell did right tackles start wearing #44?

I'm a retired Ranger. I have served with and fought beside both Marines and personnel of the US Army.
When it's time to lock and load I'd bet my butt and my life on either one of them.
In Nam I ran a point dog. I walked an extended point for both Army special forces and occasionally a Marine patrol when they needed a dog for extended penetration missions. It never mattered to me if I had a Marine, a Ranger, or one of the green-heads behind me. They all did a great job.
Salute them, shake their hands, give them a hug, and tell them welcome home, job well done.

There is not difference in quality between "marines" and "soldiers." the IAC, Army and Marine Corps are two very different institutions. The fact that the marines were dependent on the army for food is an example.

I'm sure someone has pointed out to you by now that your opening picture has three Marines in it.

One dressed in his blues,

One dressed in Cammies,

and one PJ's one each NSN:57483-2112-4356-01537

Another way you can tell they are both Marines is that neither has his hands in his pockets.

I'm grateful beyond words to the marines, the army, navy, air force and coast guard.

My son served in Iraq- he's a combat soldier in the 101st AB. What he told me was- when you're in battle and in a war zone- you're damn glad to have marines and soldiers by your side and at your back.

The finer distinctions between the branches I leave up to those who have, and do, serve. I'm a civilian. Period.

The marines in Fallujah stole so much from hte px that they had to rearrange the store and post "No Shoplifting" signs. They didn't have to do that when the 82nd was there.

As far as resuing Army units, you have to remember who your source is. Also, in Al Anbar, most of the Army would have been transportation units on convoy. The USMC would have been the closest support available.

You might not want to hear about the conversations the young marines in Fallujah and Taqqadim had that I was privy to. Things about playing with body parts and 'bowling balls'...do you really want me to continue?

I got to deal with all four branches and assorted SF units. I don't have a problem saying who were the worst, who treated contractors the worst, and who behaved the worst.

The few and the proud have a great PR department but that is the best part of them.

See, your son has integrity and character. We can thank
God for fine young men like him. The 101 is an honorable outfit. My prayers for his safe return, and for your peace of mind.

thought you would get a kick out of this article...

being both, and most recently a Soldier, this befits the hands in the pockets Army and the rigid sharp as knives Marine Corps...

This is old. I remember this same idiotic picture being posted here a couple of years ago. I'm a Marine but I still think this is a lame thread. There are some (poop)birds in the USMC, believe me. On the other hand, my Uncle Jim (US Army) got Purple Hearts at Normandy AND in Korea.

The Army took some heavy hits under Carter and Clinton and the social engineers of previous Democrat congresses whose goal was (and remains) to destroy the military by feminizing it (at the Fort Dix artillery range we used to laugh at co-ed Army boot platoons jogging along with two or three ladies pulling up the rear at a hands-on-hips walk).

However, I have a feeling that today there are better people in charge who are trying to set things right.

All men and women in ALL U.S. military branches/uniforms are a beautiful sight to see, IMHO. It's not about the branch, it's about the duty, honor, sacrifice and bravery each and every one of them bless this great country with. All of them can look real handsome in their fancy dress uniforms, but it's what is in their hearts and minds that matters more. God bless our military, each and every branch, and each and ever American who chooses to serve.

Ok, honesty time...your post is an insult to our military men and women. My son's blood was the same color as a U.S. Marine's blood, and their mission was the same.
