I've worked with 82d and they are good. I worked with the SEALS and the same. But, you know what..we are always busting each others chops about how we do things in how we operate and such. It is all taken lightly but even in combat, you still get it..to lighten the air if you know what i mean. You always have the one guy that can put a smile on everyones face when you are about to shit your pants.

The difference is that the Marines need the ARMY to rescue there asses out of situations where they are fixin to get severly whoooped... This has been the case down through history.... There is no instances of the Marines ever rescueing the ARMY...

When my father was in the Navy during WW2 he always refered to the Marines as (I'm not sure of the spelling): "Gyreens".

I have no idea whether that was complimentary or not but I suspect it was not. Probably just the normal competition between services WW2-style. I haven't heard the term used in decades but it might still be lurking out there somewhere.

Ever notice how POORLY some of these people take to a good ribbing?

What's the matter folks? Have the liberals brainwashed all of you into the "politically correct" thought patterns?

Nothing can be a joke anymore? Gee - what a rotten and SAD life you must have.

Maybe you are half right but the Marines are sent to the darkst outposts for dirtiest and fcked up jobs. When you have that, you recieve high casualty rate and are bloodied. That is why the Army is such a good supporting unit for front line Marine units...

The difference I care about can be seen in the difference in what happened in Fallujah and what happened in the Holy Cities in the South

The Army, through the 82nd, 3ID and 1st Cav "controlled" Fallujah from April 2003 to March 20, 2004. The cities of the Shi'ite South ... Nasariyah, Kut, Najaf, Samanwah, Karbala and Basra ... were pacified by the Marines and Royal Marines.

Other than that, you're really accurate.

my point exactly! you need humor thrown in now and then! yeeesh, I took the ribbing from my brothers the moment I told them I'm joining the Marine Corps and becomeing a jarhead once I finished high school. Then you have your best friend join the Navy AND become a submariner...talk about fkcing with each..yeeesh! LOL

I don't know why, but where I'm from, I don't know anyone who has joined the army. I have plenty of friends in teh Marine corps and I knew a few guys in college who were Army ROTC - now they're rangers.

My buddy's brother is in the army - as an apache helicopter pilot.

The army managed to kill the enemy without killing lots of civilians. But I will say that the tactics the Marines chose initially were merely inopportune. The City should have been assaulted and taken a year ago.
