Subject: Mary Jo Kopechne

Hello My name is Mary Jo Kopechne.

I would have been 65 years of age this year.

Read about me and my killer below.

When Sen. Ted Kennedy was merely just another Democrat bloating on Capitol Hill on behalf of liberal causes, it was perhaps excusable to ignore his deplorable past.

But now that he's become Sen. John Kerry's leading campaign attack dog, positioning himself as Washington's leading arbiter of truth and integrity, the days for such indulgence are now over.

It's time for the GOP to stand up and remind America why Sen. Kerry's chief spokesman had to abandon his own presidential bid in 1980 - time to say the words Mary Jo Kopechne out loud.

As is often the case, Republicans have deluded themselves into thinking that most Americans already know the story of how this "Conscience of the Democratic Party" left Miss Kopechne behind to die in the waters underneath the Edgartown Bridge in July 1969, after a night of drinking and partying with the young blonde campaign worker. But most Americans under 40 have never heard that story, or details of how Kennedy swam to safety, then tried to get his cousin Joe Garghan to say he was behind the wheel.

Those young voters don't know how Miss Kopechne, trapped inside Kennedy's Oldsmobile, gasped for air until she finally died, while the Democrats' leading Iraq war critic rushed back to his compound to formulate the best alibi he could think of.

Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.

As they listen to the Democrats' "Liberal Lion" accuse President Bush of "telling lie after lie after lie" to get America to go to war in Iraq, young voters don't know about that notorious 1991 Easter weekend in Palm Beach, when Uncle Teddy rounded up his nephews for a night on the town, an evening that ended with one of them credibly accused of rape.

It's time for Republicans to state unabashedly that they will no longer "go along with the gag" when it comes to Uncle Ted's rants about deception and moral turpitude inside the Bush White House. And if the Republicans don't, let's do it ourselves by passing this forgotten disgrace around the Internet to wake up memories of what a fraud and fake Teddy really is.

The Democratic Party, not to mention Sen. John Kerry, should be ashamed to have the national disgrace from Massachusetts as their spokesman. And the GOP needs to say so out loud. I remember all of this and I'm sure most of you do, too.

I think your analysis of the Chappaquidick crime is excellent.

Thanks that would be a great Picture if Fatso Kennedy, A.K.A. the chappaquidick Coward, ever runs for the Senate again.
How the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts continues to keep him in the Senate is beyond me.

There in lies the problem. Democrats like Ted Kennedy do not consider themselves cowards. They make excuses that their immorality must be concealed for other's better good. Sort of like the liberal media does everyday when they hide stories about liberal politicians. His alcoholic stupors are not out of guilt but simply because he has lived a life of excess, privilege and does the wrong thing because "he can."

Yes, he was kicked out for cheating, possibly was allowed to go back the next year. I read everything about them once upon a time.

I originally got sent a copy of your info on Ted etc...Thanks for bringing it up. Apparently a lot of others agree! I was born in Boston, (don't blame me, thats where I came out!) to 2 staunch Republicans. The Kennedy name was said in awe (gag) by most people.Happily we moved south.. I've read a lot of the posts and would like to make a few comments. 1. I am a funeral director/embalmer and (contrary to what one person wrote) there is NO way a funeral director can tell about water being in someone's lungs. While I'll spare you the details of embalming...we don't have any way to tell that. 2. In the "real world" (a/k/a not if you're a Kennedy), any unattended death requires an autopsy. But its pointless to question how judges, Medical Examiners, etc acted in this case...'cuz you're dealing with a Kennedy. 3. Someone posted a comment @ how the people of Massachusetts could keep electing him..., ask the same question of the people of NY that elected Hillary to the Senate! 4. Yes, Jackie O was smart to keep her kids from "the Kennedy Clan", as much as possible. 5. I've always said that the reason that Teddy was never assasinated, was because he wasn't worth the bullet. Thanks for bringing up this whole subject. I've passed it on to not only people my age, who remember, but to my kids and their friends who need to know. (several have written me expressing outrage... wake up kids...) Anyway, thanks. morticia

Remember Mary Joo Kopechne Wednesday evening, July 28th, as the man who drove her to her death and abandoned her to certain death, speaks to the nation as the voice of the Democrat Party.

Shame on Kennedy, the judge that let him off, and the MA. voters who keep re-electing him.

Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.

Being aware of the length of time it took for kennedy to seek help for Mary Jo, whose seeped out in the water under that bridge as she fought to breath, was probably more than just alibi setting time, but working off a 'drunken stupor' time, I mean, he hardly needed a DWI on top of a murder, er, manslaugher charge...I have ALWAYS wondered how much her family was paid off.

And as for this ( from the article):

Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.

MY GOSH---------no wonder teddy found it so easy to defend the indensible walking blob known as billy klinton.

Teddy, himself, is UNACQUAINTED with good character....teddy, thrown out of Harvard for cheating, Billy, ousted from Oxford over rape charge, teddy refused by the military for cheating, billy, escaping military by leading marijuana laden protest against AMERICA in London. What a pair of losers.

I was in Mass. back when this happened. Kennedy worshipers were so sad for him.

But your statement “why didn’t she go out the window” is one that people asked and asked back then. According to the autopsy she did not suffer skull injuries at all. She was not knocked unconscious.

Was it possible she was pregnant with his child, drowned before they flipped the car in the water? Such was speculation back then. She was not examined for pregnancy.

Kennedy was guilty of manslaughter at the very least and the fact that charges were not brought against him, that he got two months supended sentence for leaving the scene of an accident, etc. All this makes us realize that personal ethics makes no difference to liberals who like him for his ideology.

Either he was drunk that night and had to sober up before they called the police or he held her head under the water then sent the car off the the road to make it look like the murder was an accident. Either way - the brain tumor at least will possibly bring about some justice and hell awaits unrepentant sinners.

My prayer is that Kennedy dies on July 28th. That way Mary Jo’s death will be highlighted in the midst of all the eulogies for a pompous unrepentant sinner.

You may get in trouble for bumping an old topic but I'm glad you did. This is why I have no sympathy for Ted Kennedy.
Mary Jo's position in accident car
- Inquest Exhibit # 14 -

- Sketch of Mary Jo Kopechne's position in the accident car prepared under the direction of scuba diver John Farrar.
- Farrar believed that the car initially contained a large pocket of trapped air, represented by the original water level.

Outsiders read our posts, you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, but setting yourself up as judge and jury and deeming a cancerous brain tumor to be a just punishment makes us all look bad.

Summer time bump! I was in Newport, RI on Friday and this guy was driving a lovely bmw with this bumper sticker:
Mary Jo Kopechne would have been 69 this year. And there was a picture on the bumper sticker. The guy driving the car had to be about sixty, had a convertible w/roof down and was sporting long hair and a mischievious grin. I gave him a thumbs up! He returned the salute.

This is a film that should be made. V’s wife.
