Returning the Flag of the United States to Full-Staff
By the President of the United States of America
A Proclamation
By the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in honor and tribute to the memory of Ronald Reagan, it is hereby ordered that the flag of the United States shall be displayed at full-staff at the White House and on all buildings, grounds, and Naval vessels of the United States beginning July 3, 2004. I also direct that beginning on that same date, the representatives of the United States in foreign countries shall make similar arrangements for the display of the flag at full-staff over their Embassies, Legations, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and stations.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this second day of July, in the year of our Lord two thousand four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and twenty-eighth.
GEORGE BUSH

Our democrat governor said "agencies" were asking him if they could fly the flag high on the fourth. (Uh-huh...As if any government workers would be working or would care...) So he sent out an order that flags could be brought up today before the 4th and flown for our country's birthday. Tuesday morning they could be dipped slightly before being flown in reference to the president's passing. What a jerk.

Thank you. Just bought a new flag and ran it up and halfway down the pole this afternoon. I was wondering when we went to full staff.
Man, new flags sure look good!

Thanks.
I was planning to keep the crepe ribbon on my flag until the 5th. But now I'll take it off (with a bow of the head and a prayer) on the 3rd.
I put a second flag up today, next to the Stars & Stripes - my wife got me one of those "Don't Tread On Me" flags for Christmas.

We at house have the flag flying for 18+ years. And we also have the "DON'T TREAD ON ME" flying under old glory and has been since Iraq War started. When we tell someone where we live we tell them about the flags, and they say I know exact where you live.

"I counted the 30 days to expire on the fourth."
"...30 days?" I had no clue. We don't watch TV. Radio doesn't give news much, any more. And even though we scan huge amounts of news here, we saw nothing in Internet news about that. And, of course, we live in a way remote place.

See you later, Mr. Reagan. Thank you, sir, for a wonderful example.

AM, could you put this in breaking news so all will know?

This is unfortunate. President Reagan passed when he did in a moment of most serendipitous timing. Both Flag Day and Independence Day fell within the thirty day mourning period, and we should reflect on that, with flags at half staff, rather than shortcutting tradition.

We are reflecting. We are thinking about what President Reagan meant to our lives, how the cold war ended, and about the 228th year of independence from Britan. And the sacrifices of those that went before.
And we'll fly our flags at full staff.
