Kerry says he believes that life starts at conception
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com ^ | July 05, 2004 | Jonathan Finer

DYERSVILLE, Iowa — As Sen. John Kerry campaigned across Iowa yesterday with Gov. Tom Vilsack, widely reported to be on Kerry's vice-presidential short list, both men dodged repeated questions about whether their joint appearance might be a preview of the Democratic ticket.

But even as he tried to avoid making news, Kerry broke ground in an interview that ran in the Dubuque, Iowa, daily, the Telegraph Herald. A Catholic who supports abortion rights and has taken heat recently from some in the church hierarchy for his stance, Kerry told the paper: "I oppose abortion, personally. I don't like abortion. I believe life does begin at conception.

"I can't take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist," he continued. "We have separation of church and state in the United States of America."

The comments came on the final day of a three-state Midwest swing, during which Kerry has repeatedly sought to dispel stereotypes that could play negatively among voters in the Midwest.

President Bush's campaign said these instances are further evidence of what it says is Kerry's propensity for misleading flip-flops.

"John Kerry's ridiculous claim to hold conservative values and his willingness to change his beliefs to fit his audience betrays a startling lack of conviction on important issues like abortion that will make it difficult for voters to give him their trust," said Steve Schmidt, a Bush campaign spokesman.

If he really believes this, then he is far worse than someone who supports abortion, but who also believes that life doesn't begin at conception.

His back must be killing him from doing so many flip-flops. If somebody asked Kerry what time it was, he'd have watches on both wrists to tell him and he still wouldn't give you a straight answer.

That makes sense. The old creep is only trying to win over votes. But of course, it doesn't make sense for him to be against abortion when he voted for partial-birth abortion.

Just a thought, but those who strive to the uttermost for so-called "separation" of church and state are both anti-church (anti-community) and anti-state. They wish to keep church and state "separate", the better to dismember each principle separately. It's not entirely clear that church and state are meant to be fully separate; there being a Christian humanist tradition which maintains both church and state under its wings, in separate activities perhaps though not separate dimensions.

One of the most amazing photographs that you'll ever see --

is this picture of Samuel, a 21 week old baby boy, whose tiny hand reaches out of the womb and grabs the finger of the surgeon who was operating on him, as if to say, "thanks doc, you did a wonderful job." It should be seen by the WHOLE WORLD.

Unless this man is a totally base sociopath he can not mean what he says here.

If you believe that life begins at conception then to intentionally abort a human fetus is to intentionally end a human life.

This is of course murder.

The last I heard murder was a crime against the State and in many states a capital crime.

I don’t see Mr. Kerry’s Catholicism being an issue in legislating against murder.

That is what Kerry is doing ,He is running for public office by advocating murder just to get elected. Can anyone be any lower than this? By his own mouth he condemns himself just as he condemned his brothers in Viet Nam by his own mouth in front of Congress and the world . I must agree with his fellow Swift boat officers , this man is unfit to be President. Really unfit to be called a Human Being, He has no beliefs except getting elected.

No, they know he is lying and will give him a pass. Perhaps a light rebuke, then they will drop it.

This is the most absurd position I have ever heard. He is saying he believes something is wrong, but because his religion teaches that it is wrong, he cannot support a law saying it is wrong. I'm sure I am not smart enough to see the nuance in his position. I wonder what other principles he believes in, but cannot supportin legislation because the church agrees with him.

The point I was trying to make is: Kerry goes to one group and tells them what he thinks they want to hear. Then he goes to a group with an opposing view point and tells them the exact opposite.

With his repeatedly contradicting himself, the obvious interpretation is neither group can trust him.

"I can't take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist," he continued. "We have separation of church and state in the United States of America."

This decoy argument raises a number of issues such as polygamy, blood transfusions for minors, stoning of adultresses, and even human sacrifice.

It does explain his lust for taxes, as he wouldn't want to legistlate "Thou shalt not steal" on an atheist.

As a metter of fact, it begins before then. Every female born already has all the eggs in her she will ever have. While she is in the womb. So every person alive spent some time (at least their protoplasm) in their maternal grandmother's body, whether they ever even met her or not.

Believing that the infant exists at conception and voting for abortion because you think you can't legislate a belief for another is such cowardice, so hideous and simply worse than someone who believes that the infant is just a blob of amorphous tissue.

Kerry wants to be president so badly that he'll forsake his religous views before he'll forsake support from the abortion enthusiasts. He's just pretenting to be religous because he knows there's not enough atheists voters to get elected.

John, a hint: If this is really your belief, it can be supported by DNA testing, which has nothing to do with the church.

Kerry is running on his Catholicity. He brought it into the race, posed for photo-ops, and courted the Catholic ethnicity. He has only himself to blame.

Besides, for a faithful Catholic, receiving Communion at a Protestant church as he did at an AME church is anathema.

He has denied the basic tenet of the faith which is the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Over the last seven years, John Kerry has voted against every anti abortion bill he was presented with. He has come in from the campaign trail just to vote against a ban on partial birth abortion. He is an evil person who will say anything to anyone to be elected president.
His saying that "life begins at conception" coupled with his unswerving support for all forms of abortion make him the greatest danger to the American Catholic Church since the Know Nothings.
Help us fight this guy. Don't let this evil come directly to our door while we do nothing.
