[Breck Girl Poll] 'BOUNCE' A BUMP
New York Post ^ | 07/08/04 | MARSHA KRANES

John Kerry's selection of charismatic North Carolina Sen. John Edwards as his running mate gave him a single-digit bounce in the polls — considerably less than the party's two previous White House candidates.

A CBS News poll taken immediately after Kerry picked Edwards found the Democrat had gained 4 percent in the polls, while an NBC News survey showed him up a more impressive 9 percent.

Four years ago, presidential wannabe Al Gore's candidacy got a 17-point shot in the arm after he chose Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the first Jew to run for national office.

And in 1992, Bill Clinton's campaign experienced a whopping 19-point bounce when he tapped Gore as his running mate.

The Breck Girl bounce doesn't look that big, in historical context. The Gore bump was smaller than it appears though, since Ross Perot dropped out of the race at about the same time.

Before I give these stupid polls a rectal exam [thank you for the heads up btw, I'm not ticked at the messenger by any means], Dick Morris said yesterday that Edwards has a major campaign finance scandal on his hands: LAWYERS illegally funnelling cash to him through straw donors. Leave it to the lawyers to use sloppy techniques breaking the law.

Now for the Colon Cleansing:

I don't even believe Kerry got that much of a bounce. See-BS says 4% while N-BS says 9%? Give me a break. They can't even get their story straight. I hope more and more confusion is spread in these polls. That way the poll-driven rats will flounder worse than ever with false confidence. If people get a poll they ought to say how much they adore Kerry and then send an e-mail to Bush admitting they lied on a poll and that they really support him. Confusion to the enemy! And the man is still an unknown. The Invisible Rat, pandered by the BS media, you would think he could get stronger approval.

What little bounce Kerry got will vanish within weeks anyway.

Yes, but look at the statistics. These polls are heavily flawed as has been pointed out in previous threads.

Any Edwards bump would conceivably take some time to develop. At the moment it is just the media hyperventilating.

Left Man now has his Liberal Boy. A truly Dynamic Duo out to fleece American taxpayers and build a stronger socialist union.

"Dick Morris said yesterday that Edwards has a major campaign finance scandal on his hands..."

If that's the case, then it needs to be exposed now and acted on aggressively. Negative politics be damned.

In '92 Jerry Brown, in a debate with Clinton in Illinois, accused Clinton's "wife's law firm (of)funneling into his campaign". Later, in the NY primary, Brown referred to Clinton as the "Prince of Sleaze". The "snowball" didn't really take shape until after Clinton won.

The campaign finance scandals sound good until we think back to 1996 and Clinton/Gore. It won't do much good if things seriously develop after (God forbid) Kerry/Edwards take office.

Dick Morris also said that he would pick Hillary as V.P.

I must be missing something. Every time I've seen Edwards on TV he reminds me more of Howdy Doody or the Who Me Worry guy than of a charismatic leader.

I'm sure there are a lot of skeletons in his closet. There are rumors that he made quite a profit from his son's death. And Ann Coulter has a good article about him.

Bush would have had it made if it weren't for Iraq. That war might yet give us the worst president and VP -- a traitor and an ambulance chaser.

I'm not surprised at all....
Kerry got a shopping bump.
It's the wow, I bought a cute new outfit bump, that lasts all the way home, but usually fades the next morning.

It seems the Metrosexual ticket isn't catching on as much as the Dems would hope. Proabably because the selection was expected since the primaries so there was some degree of innoculation built in. Its hard to make a splash when everyone expects to pick the guy you end up picking.
