Sad News: Sultan88 Passed Away This Morning!!
8 July 2004 | Mudboy Slim

Posted on 07/08/2004 7:49:07 AM PDT by Mudboy Slim

Greg Summers (aka Sultan88) paased away this morning in a Petersburg, Virginia hospital. He's been sick for some time, but this news came as a total shock to me.

Greg was a kind, gentle man, who had a passion for all things that make America great...I am honored to consider him a good FRiend and he will be greatly missed by myself and all those who got to know his wisdom and sense of humor on FR.com. This is simply devastating news!!

My prayers go out to his family, including his son who we've come to know as 'yankhater" around here.

Sad FReegards...MUD

Heaven seems selfish when our loved ones, friends and family leave us for this place.
Sultan88 blessed each of us here in a personal way unique to each, and now it is time those in Heaven are blessed with this gentle soul as well.

When he's been there, ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
He'll have no less days,
To sing God's praise,
Than when he'd first begun.

Rest In Peace.

This hurts. Gregg was a great friend.

I have been in several fantasy leagues with him over the years and believe me, he was a competative person. He had a bite when he was angry. He would never put you down but would sure speak his mind.

I never did get a chance to hook up and meet him. We tried the last time my soccer team visited Richmond but timing just wouldn't allow it. My regret there.

I am so glad that I got to know him over the internet. Good bye my friend. Many Prayers are being sent in your memory.

Say hey, my FRiend Sultan, I wrote you a song...
'Bout Dem funny Lib'rals...RATS're comin' unstrung!!
Yer hope's always welcome...our fight shall go on...
When yer good FRiend is dyin'...RATS are of NO import!!

Hey, my FRiend Sultan...always knew that you know...
All the dreams of Dutch Reagan and a'fightin' Left's Whore'd!!
I'm a'singin' you this song...my throat's scratchy and rough...
'Cuz there ain't many men who've done what you've done!!

Here's to poet, BKO, and HeavyD, too...
An' to all the bold FReepers who fought 'gainst Left's fools!!
Here's to pure hearts and strong stands fer FReedom!!
Right fights 'cuz we must 'cuz Dem Lib'rals are SCUM!!

You'll be buried tomorrow...and we shall grieve today...
We'll miss yer kind wisdom, my FRiend.
The very last thing that I'd want to do...
Is to say, "Goodbye, Buddy...honor FReepin' with you!!"

Before I departed for the leftcoast for the week, I checked on my Freepers and got the news:

Like most long term friends, I don't remember when we first met but our precious years were starting. It must have been in the waning days of Bush(I), for we sensed times were worsening for our land.

We gathered other like souls for lunch at the officers club on base and formed Friends Of the Constitution of the United States (FOCUS) at a table in the rear of the club where we dicussed politically incorrect subjects.

Even when they changed the tablecloth to white, we always had the RTM there as well as in other resturants in the area.
We all split up over the next 10 - 15 years but we carried on our ideals and tried to stay FOCUSED.

Occasionally we would get together at the; (forgive me) DIXIE resturant in P'burg and discuss "issues of importance". He would always start out with "Hello again, my good friend", no mater how "motivated" I was over something JAHN Warner had done.

Physically he was never strong while I knew him but he did more with less that anyone else I knew. Someday I will see him again at a table of red and hear him say, "hello again, my good friend".

Mud, Yankhater

I'm sorry for your loss. I never met Sultan88, but after reading this thread, I feel I'm a lesser person for not having known him.

I'm sure he is enjoying The Lords embrace, looking down on us and wondering what all the fuss is about.

Prayers being sent for Greg and all his family and friends.

Oh man, I was just in your after-action thread with him a few days ago!

Please pass the following on to his loved ones: We send you Isaiah 61:3.

Christ will...
comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion-
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.

Your Dad was, as we say in the Pine Tree State, "Finest Kind." We send you Isaiah 61:3.

Christ will...
comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion-
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
