No longer tucked away in a brown paper bag, the hamster that stopped Metra trains in Aurora on Friday evening is safe and sound with a new home and a new name.
"Scratchy" is now in the hands of a daughter of an Aurora canine officer.
His original owner, who apparently left the hamster behind on a Chicago-to-Aurora commuter train, has not come forward to claim him.
Aurora fire and police departments, along with the Kane County Sheriff's Bomb Squad, were called to the Aurora Transportation Center on Friday evening to investigate a suspicious brown paper bag found on the train. After two hours, safety officials discovered a hardly threatening object inside the bag: a brownish-gray hamster.
The hidden hamster caused the delay of five trains for up to 30 minutes, Metra media spokesman Tom Miller said.
Another hamster saved.
Oh no, a hamster is in trouble!
Someone call John Kerry!
And where WAS Richard Gere during all this?
Too many hamster and gerbil instances this week. I smell a conspiracy, and a rat.
rotfl!
LOL.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those photos using guinea pigs? Well... maybe the Democrats are too...
Oooops, here he come now."
More important, I and many of my fellow PETA members were so swayed by the compassion demonstrated by the angular Irish fellow from Boston, that we raised over $60 at our meeting last night and contributed it to the campaign.
I am definitely voting for him. He really cares. Oh, one more thing, which one of you right wing fanatics put the "NUKE the WHALES" bumper-sticker on my Prius? Not funny!
