Brit Hume and Lt Col Bill Cowan Supporting Switfee Story
Fox News

Posted on 08/10/2004 3:32:18 PM PDT by what's up

Hume looks to be going after the story. Asking ALL the right questions.

Basically the main topic was whether the other Swift Boat people would have been considered as "serving" with John Kerry.

Lt Col Bill Cowan who served on a Swift Boat said "Absolutely!" In FACT, someone on another boat might be able to BETTER see what was going on on Kerry's boat than the men on the boat themselves because they have a panoramic view of the scene.

I don't think the Berger story is dead yet. I think he will be indicted soon.

I wasn't pleased with the way they reported the story either. But, the posters that day went on and on about how Fox was no better than CNN, bla, bla, bla. That is just not the case. If you don't like the coverage on a particular day or hour, just wait, they make up for it.

Like today for example, William Lajunesse has been reporting on THK and how her foundation supports enviro groups who are suing the coal industry. He ends the report by describing how she owns 5 houses, SUVs and private jet, which is not exactly enviro friendly. You won't find that reported on CNN.

You could also send to the SBVFT website suggesting they bring photos like this when they are interviewed. Very effective in countering the likes of Lanny Davis.

Susan Estrich and Lanny Davis should take Chensy's advice to Leahy. These pictures illustrate the actual distance between boats.

The point being that with boats spread out they were MORE vulnerable to ambush. This is not unlike the bomber formations over Europe in WWII. When this close there were able to provide supporting and suppressing fire on multiple targets at once.

I absolutely agree with Cowan's point about his fellow officers and former chain of command being the best source as to his performance.

Just like any job interview, we should hear from his 'managers' about his 'past job performance', not his subordinates. Since he has made his 'job' in Vietnam the main touchpoint for his so-called personality, their input is essential.

And, as I'm sure you concur, the fact that his entire local chain of command and his relief have publicly denounced him is especially striking. That just doesn't happen. Military officers just don't do that. Unless there is something seriously wrong.

I'm beginning to believe that there is something seriously wrong with LT (j.g.) Kerry. Not that I was going to vote for the SOB to begin with, but now I'm inspired to do all I lawfully can to prevent him from reaching the Presidency.

And on this point, here's something for the Research Division, How many of Kerry's "Band of Brothers" are professional military, as opposed to his detractors?

I don't hold anything against Dave Chapell... Why should I hold anything against Corsi? Because he is white he can not hold an opinion and tell jokes? Since when is a man unable to speak freely about the crap pumped out by the popular culture including our pop culture pope and our pop culture religions?

I support all freedom of speech.... communist like John Kerry do not.

How did someone without a Navy rank serve in the swiftboats? *

Lt. Col. Marines. Marines are known to work with the Navy.
Living in San Diego I see this all the time.

Anybody have a head count of how many guys served under Kerry (on his boat) during the 4 months, as opposed to those who served with him (officers & crew of other boats in the same area, along with officers up Kerry's chain of command)? Were all the guys who appeared onstage in Boston (other than Rasmussen) members of Kerry's crew? Is it possible that that group represents nearly everybody who was on Kerry's boat (crew or passenger) at any time during the 4 months? I've read that most of K's crew support him while his peers and superior officers oppose him.

Has my favorite Fox Soldier, Bob Belilaqua, chimed in yet? I know this isn't his bag exactly but I miss his Iraqi War commentary.

I think we should start a thread about all the mental problems people think that Kerry is afflicted with. He is obviously a serial liar and has delusions of grandeur for a start.

Brit asked Carl Cameron about it on Special Report, but Carl said no comment from Kerry camp. I guess they are hoping the liberal media will let it die and they will just stonewall.

Kerry supporters will vote for him even if he turns out to be a psychopathic satanist and has never told the truth in his life. These people have to support him by blind faith, but their religion is solid. To them, Michael Moore is a credible documentary journalist, the Da Vinci Code is true and the Bible is false and Kerry is as close to the beloved Clinton as they can get. Finally, to them, they will drink Kerry's Koolaide because it's an "anybody but Bush religion"

When Cowen was talking it seemed to me that he was headed toward mentioning that the Swift Boat guys lived together, bunked together, ate together and partied together, and knew each other intimately. Brit, as his want, interrupted to clarify a point, and Cowen was never able to continue.

I believe that the background of where these guys docked, ate, slept, etc., is an important part of the "they didn't serve ON his boat" story.

I still feel a strong bond with officers I served with in a unit twenty years ago. This kind of thing just doesn't happen unless there is a serious issue involved. It's especially concerning when you realize this was one of the few, if not the only, positions where Kerry served in an executive, leadership role.

He's a bit too diplomatic and polite....

He did say he has known Kerry since the age of 5. This may explain why he was cautious when the story first broke.
