KERRY'S VIETNAM PROBLEM
New York Post - Letters ^ | 8/13/04

Posted on 08/13/2004 2:34:07 AM PDT by kattracks

August 13, 2004 --

What I want to know is why Bush's stint in the National Guard merited intense scrutiny from the mainstream media four years ago and again during this election cycle, but the many confusing issues regarding Kerry's Vietnam experience are completely ignored ("Kerry's Attempt To Squelch Vets," Editorial, Aug. 10)?

This is a serious character issue that needs to be explored.

John Nerz

Andover, Mass.

Kerry spent his convention wrapping himself in his war record.

[snip]

Now we have a new book that seriously challenges the truthfulness of how Kerry has depicted his time in the military.

The public is entitled to see Kerry's service records.

Jeff LudwigBrooklyn

Kerry is a first-class crybaby.

He could settle everything by opening his full service records.

Kenna Amos

I guess that's one reason the New York Post is such a great paper -- they apparently have great readers!

A good comback for Bush during the debates:

Kerry: "AYE defended America in my youth and AYE will defend her as president!!!"

Bush: "No John, I defended America in my F(whatever) jet, YOU defended NORTH Vietnam!!!"

I know men like Custer were gloryhounds but that doesn't fit hanoi john.

I can think of a couple.

Phoney

Liar

What irks me the most about this is that Kerry slimed the Vietnam vets while building his phoney record. He built himself up on the backs of truly courageous men with his lies.

It's becoming apparent that he went to Vietnam in the first place with the intent of launching a political career, not to serve his country. He must have cultivated his shipmates with that in mind from the very first, not with the well being of anyone but himself.

There was a Republican in Boston earlier in the summer. Having been there only on business, I am safe at home in my red state now.

That is amazing. However, he's writing far away to the NY Post, and I doubt he's publicly mentioning his affiliation in Andover.

There's at least one Republican living in Somerville, Mass - me. Just here for a month to take a Business course. I lived in Cambridge 20 years ago during college, and the PC, the "progressivism" and obligatory GOP-bashing that has always been here, has increased to almost Red Guard level.

Being a native Bostonian, I am in complete shock. I might take to strong drink later in the day if I can't shake it.

Thank God it's Friday.

There's a good chance he's a drunk Repbulican and doesn't know he lives in Andover.
