Warmest greetings from the organizing committee of Vets for the Truth (VFTT), which was established for the express purpose of assisting in the redeployment of John Murtha from the US House of Representatives. For the record, VFTT rose out of the 2004 campaign by Vietnam Vets for the Truth to inform the American voters of the lies told in 1971 about Vietnam military personnel by John Kerry. We had a great deal of success, especially in conceiving of and implementing Operation Street Corner, a program by means of which everyday citizens can make their political opinions known and point...

Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 10:55 a.m. EST GOP to Launch 'Stop Hillary' Web site A top political adviser to New York Governor George Pataki is reportedly planning to launch a web site targeting Sen. Hillary Clinton's 2006 reelection bid, in an apparent effort to duplicate the success of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in last year's presidential race. The "Stop Her Now" Web site is the brainchild of Arthur Finkelstein, according to the New York Post. "The site could draw millions of dollars in anti-Clinton campaign cash from across the nation," a state GOP source told the paper. The...

Despite my total disgust with the biased media, I had decided to move to another topic. That is, until today when I heard John Kerry discuss the reasons for his failure to win the presidency. I didn’t mind his excuse regarding his party’s failure to get out the vote, even though his people got him more votes than any other candidate, save President Bush, in the history of our nation. How’s that for gratitude? But rather, it was his comments regarding how FOX Cable News, Sinclair Broadcasting, and talk radio had done him in. This excuse was so pitifully lame...

Here is my captured closed captioning causing Kerry credibility concerns. Chrissy Matthews LOVES KERRY!!! He kept trying to get Mr. Thurlow to spin it fifty different ways... TV Channel 65 Thu Aug 19 18:03:29 2004 certainly. Let me ask but the quote that you have in this ad. It says, these are your words speaking in the advertisement. When the clips were down, you could not count on john kerry. Why do you say that? >> The main reason i say that is because it became apparent oriole that john kerry had a master plan that went far beyond the...

Club for Growth Launches National Ad Campaign at Democratic National Convention in BostonWashington, D.C.— The Club for Growth, one of the nation’s leading free-market political advocacy organizations, today unveiled a new $1 million television ad campaign at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. The ad shows a spinning weather vane to represent Kerry’s many flip-flops on issues from the death penalty for terrorists to welfare reform to tax cuts. “John Kerry has never taken a position without checking the weather vane,” said Club for Growth president Stephen Moore. “He checks which way the wind is blowing and rides the breeze....

Human Events reports that the DNC and the Kerry campaign are writing to television stations, stating that the Swift Boat ads is is "false" and "libelous" and that "your station may not responsibly air this advertisement." At least one of their points in the letter is an obvious lie: "The advertisement contains statements by men who purport to have served on Senator John Kerry's SWIFT [sic] boat in Vietnam and one statement by a man pretending to be the doctor who treated Senator Kerry for one of his injuries." Horsepucky. Every vet in the ad says, "I served with John...

Suppose in the 1992 presidential election, after an unconfirmed rumor surfaced about an alleged affair then President Bush had years earlier, Clinton supporters decided to make marital fidelity a central issue. That would be almost as crazy as the current effort by some Bush backers to focus attention on John Kerry's Vietnam War record and subsequent protests. This is being significantly funded and directed by Texas fat cats and political operatives who have more than a passing relationship with Bush political guru Karl Rove. These are some of the same people who surreptitiously smeared John McCain in the last election....

John Kerry abandoned our husbands, sons, fathers, and brothers in favor of trade and normalization of relations with Vietnam. His actions paved the way for the further abandonment of POWs and MIAs from World War II, the Korean War, and the Cold War. John Kerry, as chairman of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, ordered the destruction of committee documents, blocked avenues of investigation, and misrepresented progress on the POW/MIA issue to justify lifting of the trade embargo against Vietnam.

n the last few days, there's been a new accusation floating around the Internet about John Kerry's Vietnam record. It involves speculation that David Alston, one of the "band of brothers" who served on board Kerry's Swift Boat, did not actually serve with Kerry at all. If such a story were true, it would be sensational news, given that Alston has made extensive public statements, including a speech at the Democratic National Convention, about his time with Kerry. The only problem is, it's not true. Alston did indeed serve under Kerry. But the attention the rumor brought to Alston and...

The Swifties have earned the right to be heard. Any columnist who complains that this is a smear campaign or denies the Vets, their First Amendment Right should be called on it. How ironic that the Press tries to say who has the Constitutional Right to speak?? That is the beauty of this country, everybody has the right to be heard and let the chips fall where they may. Unfortunately the First Amendment has been undermined by the now crumbling Mainstream Monopoly. Anyone who has fought and bled for America’s Freedom has a special right to speak and be heard....

Swift Boat Ad Working Joshua Micah Marshall reluctantly reports: Perhaps the most astonishing demonstration of the Swift Boat ad’s effectiveness, however, is the proportion of potential Kerry voters whose opinions shifted after having watched the ad. Independents intending to vote for Kerry felt considerably less sure of their choice after watching the Swift Boat ad. Before the ad, 41.94% of Independents intending to vote for Kerry felt that they would “definitely” vote for him; 37.10% felt “most likely” to vote for him; 20.97% were “leaning” towards him; and none were “not sure.” These levels of commitment changed markedly after viewing...

John Kerry's presidential campaign claimed on Tuesday that his Christmas 1968 mission into Cambodia was top, top secret - and that's why there are no documents that verify the implausible claim. "During John Kerry's service in Vietnam, many times he was on or near the Cambodian border and on one occasion crossed into Cambodia at the request of members of a special operations group operating out of Ha Tien," Kerry spokesman Michael Meehan said in a statement. But Meehan told the Boston Globe that there was no paperwork to confirm the claim and he could not supply a date...

Hidden Agenda The truth behind John Kerry`s record on your firearms rights. by Wayne LaPierre If you thought the eight long years of the Clinton/Gore administration`s war on firearms owners` rights were oppressive, they would pale in comparison to what John Kerry would have in store for us if he captures the White House and evicts President George W. Bush in November. John Kerry--whose record of words and misdeeds on firearms rights has earned him a key place among the most solid "F" candidates ever rated by the National Rifle Association--is now posing as a self-styled"lifelong hunter and gun owner,"...

Truth bound to come out on Kerry's military duty August 10, 2004 BY JOHN O'SULLIVAN When Sen. John Kerry saluted and announced that he was "reporting for duty" at last month's Democratic Convention, he made his military record a legitimate subject of political attack and journalistic investigation. That moment was the culmination of the powerful "Vietnam theme" that has distinguished the Kerry presidential campaign from almost all recent Democratic campaigns. He had turned around a failing primary season in Iowa with the filmed testimony of the sailor whose life he saved when he pulled him back into the swift boat...

I have read a lot on FR concerning Kerry and the Swift Boats, and have listen and seen a lot of it on the tube and listened to the story on the radio. I believe the Swift Boat vets. However, here is my question. Since Kerry was in the Navy - and all navy personnel on FR know this - then he was required to keep a log on the boat. All the boats kept logs. All the logs are saved. Why doesn't someone go back and check the log records of Kerry's boat and the other boats? Has this...

If the first casualty in war is the truth, as the old saying goes, the truth about John Kerry's military service is under fire from television and the bookstore shelves. The group behind the attack, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, has accused Mr. Kerry of everything from exaggerating claims to earn medals and Purple Hearts to having his own film crew capturing future campaign footage during his tour in Vietnam almost 35 years ago. Many date their anger at Mr. Kerry to his anti-war activities after he returned from Vietnam, saying he slandered veterans at the time.

A caller in the 10 o'clock (EST) claimed to be a vet who arrived in Vietnam shortly after Kerry left. Part of the caller's job was to review action reports involving special forces personnel. Regarding the incident in which Kerry saved Rathman by pulling him from the water, the caller says none of the action reports (there were 4-6 ?, one from each commander of the swift boats involved) reported enemy fire. This includes the report written by Kerry. (He especially noted the Kerry report because he had heard stories about the swift boat commander who bragged he would be...

Dear Oxen, I'm interrupting John Kerry's dispatches from the road to tell you about something that will make you angry, but which is important for you to hear. We knew it was coming: the Bush campaign and several allied right-wing groups are using August to launch a vicious smear attack against John Kerry. They think we're vulnerable this month because while George Bush is still able to raise money for attack ads, Kerry had to stop fundraising at the Democratic convention last week. They're taking this opportunity to go for the jugular. We need you to join us in this...

WASHINGTON — Part of John Kerry's (search) strategy in his White House bid is to play up his military service in Vietnam, but a group of veterans is challenging the Democratic presidential nominee's story. ~In an Oct. 14, 1979, letter to the editor of the Boston Herald, Kerry wrote: "I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian borde being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was...

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS JOHN FORBES KERRY? [08/09 10:14 PM] As many of you saw this evening, Fox News' Carl Cameron asked the Kerry campaign about his tale of spending Christmas 1968 across the border in Cambodia. Apparently, the Kerry campaign tried to assert Kerry had only said he was "near" Cambodia. "Campaign Carl" confronted them with the Boston Herald interview and Kerry's remarks in the Congressional Record (don't these people read Instapundit?) , in which Kerry claimed he was in Cambodia. The campaign didn't have an answer for why Kerry said on those occasions he was in Cambodia,...

DEMOCRATIC nominee John F. Kerry has made his tour of duty in Vietnam -- a stint in which he earned three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star -- a centerpiece of his presidential campaign. To the extent, then, that there are legitimate questions about Mr. Kerry's behavior -- either in Vietnam or back home as a prominent antiwar activist -- those are fair game. Mr. Kerry's four-plus months in Vietnam made for an unusually short tour. He used his third Purple Heart to go home early, and his wounds were relatively superficial. Some veterans remain understandably bitter...

The most interesting part of the talk concerned the latest account of John Kerry's whereabouts on Christmas Day, 1968. Kerry's account of this list has shifted and changed constantly over the last 35 years. Some versions have him spending the day in Cambodia, dropping off spies. Others have him in a barracks, 55 miles from the Cambodian border, scribbling entries into his diary. Hurley offered a hybrid today, saying Kerry was ordered onto the water Christmas day, made his way to the Cambodian border, endured three separate engagements with the enemy, and returned home. I count at least six distinct...

And who is he, really? A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case. "Who told you?" he demanded as he reached inside. "My friends don't know about this." The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying. "My good luck hat," Kerry said, happy to see it. "Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia."...

The Swift Boat Blues The partisans are running wild over this Swift Boat business, talk radio is crazy with it and the smell of blood is in the air. John Kerry has made a major deal of his Vietnam War record and now his opponents have opened fire on the Senator's experiences. It's all tawdry and distasteful of course, but let's examine things unemotionally. First off, I believe Jim Rassmann when he says that Kerry saved his life by pulling him out of a Vietnam river while under fire. Rassmann is a former Green Beret, a former police officer and...

Bill O’Reilly’s Criticism of Swift Boat Vets is Dishonest Spin By Jonathan M. Stein Bill O’Reilly, who publicly assailed the distortions of director Michael Moore during the Democrats’ convention in Boston, is now guilty of using Moore’s own deceitful tactics against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a veterans group of over 200 members questioning the wartime claims of John Kerry in a contemporary television ad. On August 5, 2004, Mr. O’Reilly stated his main argument against the Swift Boat Vets, that “none of these guys . . . were on the boat with Kerry.” On August 9, 2004, O’Reilly...

John Kerry's strategy of making his military service a centerpiece of his presidential campaign is under fire with the release of "Unfit for Command," which arrives in bookstores this week. The book accuses the Democratic nominee of lying about what he saw as a Navy officer during his four months of combat in Vietnam, inflating his own record to garner enough Purple Hearts to go home early and later joining an anti-war group that discussed plans for assassinating members of the U.S. Congress. " 'Unfit for Command' is a shocking indictment of a politician who slandered his fellow veterans, danced on...

Re: An ugly attack, editorial, Aug. 9. I respectfully disagree with your stand on the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" ad. Since it seems as though every other sentence out of John Kerry's mouth has to do with his Vietnam service record, I believe that it is very fair to challenge that service record - if for no other reason than President Bush's military records have been challenged as well. Also to compare the record of Kerry to that of Sen. John McCain is totally unfair. Being wounded in war is, indeed, a terrible thing but to compare that to...

After watching The Beltway Boys and News Watch on FNC, I think maybe we should be glad that the Main Stream Media is ignoring the Swift Boat story. Both shows pointed out that by the MSM refusing to acknowledge the charges against Kerry, word is being passed on the Internet and by word of mouth.

John Edwards is supposed to be a great lawyer but at the recent Democratic convention he made a rookie mistake: He raised a question without knowing the answer. "If you have any questions about what John Kerry's made of, just spend three minutes with the men who served with him," he said. Edwards meant Kerry's "band of brothers" - the small entourage of vets who served under him in Vietnam and now strongly support him for President. Evidently, Edwards did not know at the time that almost every officer who commanded Kerry or served alongside him opposes his candidacy. Worse,...

KNIGHT RIDDER NEWS SERVICE A group of Vietnam veterans that is challenging Sen. John Kerry's claims of heroic war service says it received a flood of donations in recent days after advertising its contentions on television in three states. The group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, said it hoped to use the money to monitor Kerry's campaign travels and run ads in cities where he appears. "That's our goal," said John E. O'Neill, a Houston attorney who's one of the group's leaders and co-author of Unfit to Command, a 251-page book being distributed by Regnery Publishing house. The book quotes...

TOM MAGUIRE has already posted John Kerry's speech claiming to have been in Cambodia on Christmas day, 1968. But because this is a question of importance, and because some people might doubt the veracity of quotations pasted in from NEXIS, I thought I'd go to the law library and check it myself in hardcopy. (The law library was closed and the copiers were off, but I have a key, and -- let this be another lesson to bloggers everywhere -- a digital camera). Here's a link to a larger version showing the exact page citation and context. The evidence...

"I'm John Kerry, and I'm reporting for duty." It was the most memorable line from John Kerry's acceptance speech last week at the Democratic National Convention. But Kerry's insistence on making his four-month tour of duty in Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign could backfire as Americans learn more about what he did in that country and, more importantly, what he did when he returned home. To hear the Kerry campaign tell it, the men who served with Kerry universally consider him a genuine war hero who would make a fine commander in chief. The campaign trumpets testimonials from a...

The character of John Kerry gets more and more and more curious with each passing day. Defined as an indecisive Northeastern liberal by many, Kerry continually tries to shake the image of a left-wing flip-flopper by touting his Viet Nam service. At the Democratic National Convention he strolled to the podium gave a salute and proudly declared “I’m John Kerry and I’m reporting for duty.” He also had his “band of brothers” from Viet Nam trot out to stand on stage on that same evening.

A Swiftboat veteran who was a member of Sen. John Kerry's crew when their boat was targeted in Feb. 1969 by an enemy rocket launcher has refuted Kerry's claim that he single-handedly saved his crew from the attack - an account that earned the top Democrat the Silver Star. Interviewed during Kerry's 1996 Senate reelection battle, Kerry crew member Tom Bellodeau told the Boston Globe that he - not Kerry - fired the shot the brought down the enemy fighter, who had aimed a loaded rocket launcher at their boat just after Kerry beached it on the Ca Mau peninsula....

Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry has waffled again, this time on his own recollections of a supposed mission to Cambodia on Christmas of 1968. On the Senate floor on March 27, 1986 (Congressional Record, page S3594), Sen. Kerry said: I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what is was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khme Rouge and Cambodians, and have the President of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; The troops were not in Cambodia…I have that memory which is seared--seared--in me.... NEW YORK -- Winston Churchill often repeated Stalin's observation that "in wartime truth is so precious that she should always be attended to be a bodyguard of lies." And now that the Democratic National Convention has ended with Kerry's acceptance speech concentrating on his four month service in the Vietnam War 35 years ago, rather than his service during the past 35 years, it appears particularly appropriate. One of the pesky IRS Code 527 organizations that now buzz through the campaign atmosphere like insatiable horseflies in the aftermath of McCain-Finegold reforms has had the presumption to raise some serious questions...

Some explaining is definitely dueMore and more loose ends are unraveling in the Kerry-Cambodia issue In all the brouhaha over John Kerry's Vietnam service, I have never taken much note about the validity of his decorations, although I have noted a few times that news stories were being printed or broadcast about them. And truth is, I really don't too much care whether Army Special Forces Capt. Jim Rassman got blown out his boat by enemy fire and then was rescued by Kerry, or had one beer to many and fell out. I understand why these issues matter to others....
