Another Kerry Lie?
RedState.Org ^ | 8/16/04 | Robert Torgoda

In various press releases, including an August 6 "fact check," the Democrats have asserted that "John Kerry served on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for 6 years and is the former Vice Chairman of the Committee."

Eugene Volokh questions this claim:

Now the Republican National Committee is pointing out -- correctly, I think, based on my quick search -- that Kerry never was the Vice Chairman of the Committee; that post was held by former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey.

I've followed up on Professor Volokh's work and conducted my own research. Democrats won't be pleased with the findings....

Posted On: Aug 16th, 2004: 13:43:21

The LexisNexis Congressional Page, whose member profiles go back to the 1997-1998 session, provides the following intelligence-committee ranks for Kerry:
108th Congress (2003-2004): Not a member
107th Congress (2001-2002): Not a member
106th Congress (1999-2000): 3
105th Congress (1997-1998): 4

If he were the vice chairman at some point, we would expect him to have appeared in the number-two slot. But he doesn't seem to have reached that level. And it would be unlikely for him to have held the post in preceding congressional sessions when he was younger; typically, senators progress to higher ranking.

Still, for the sake of covering all the bases, the examination should extend to at least the 1995-1996 session. After all, Democrats have noted that "Kerry joined the Committee in early 1995 and served until early 2001."

A LexisNexis News search ("john pre/2 kerry and intelligence and vice chair!" from 1995 to 2001) yields 12 results. Only two are pertinent to the topic at hand -- and both display similar Scripps Howard News Service dispatches by Lance Gay.

The question is, would you want your country by an amateur like this?

Wake me up when Kerry tells the truth. Now THAT would be a story.

Now wait just a darn minute here. Paula Zahn was just talking about the "surge" Kerry got in popularity after the DNC. Yowza, what drugs is she taking?

The Democrats are gonna have a real hard time defending Kerry's senate record, which is why they didn't bother to talk about it at their convention.

Anytime a democrat opens their mouth and speaks a lie comes out.

Hey, it looks like Kerry stole the other Kerry's ID:

J. ROBERT KERREY, Nebraska, Vice Chairman

They put people in jail for that, don't they?

Wake me up when Kerry tells the truth. Now THAT would be a story.

The last Democrat president who told the truth was Jimmy Carter.

The Dems certainly don't want to take that chance again!

Actually, Kerry is starting to remind me of Clare Luce Booth's characterization of the Hollywood communist Lillian Hellman: "Every word she utters is a lie, including 'and' and 'the'."

Well you see Senator Frenchie called himself Kerrey before he changed his name to Kerry. Or maybe he changed his name in January while windsurfing in Cambodia for easter.

Why should they? Their lies are never reported by the mainstream press. What do they have to fear?

Kerry's new gambit: I can't/won't explain my 19 years' experience in the Senate so I'll steal Bob Kerrey's.

Shame? What's that? That's something for the little people.

" Like , ooops, man."

The Kerry campaign has gone way beyond the ooops stage .

Every day,the campaign issues a new correction for the previous day's correction.
Every day Senator Schwinn says something outlandish that is easily debunked.
Ok- he lies every day.
The Kerry campaign just calls it his pre correction statement of the day.

The Democrats either did not vett Kerry or in their desperation, they chose to overlook his lifelong pattern of
one upping Al Gore in being a charter member of Fantasyland.
Maybe both.
Tomorrow, Kerry will probably claim he circled the sun in Al Gore's special spaceship.

john kerry has two, actually three records:

1. The record of his service in Vietnam.
This record he can either conceal or muddy the waters long enough for him to escape, with the help of the main tream media, the heat from his lies.

2. The record of his actions after he returned to the United States from Vietnam.

3. The record of his votes in the United States Senate.

Numbers 2 and three are matters of public record, his testimony before Congress, his anti war activities, his voting record as a Senator. Only on record number 1 can he run on because he can keep his military records concealed.

Ant false statment he makes concerning his conduct after returning from Vietnam or his voting record can easily be refuted by public records.

Therefore he can only do four things: Lie, Lie, Lie and critize President Bush. These he does.

this is getting to be fun. when you wake up, you try to guess who John Kerry will be today: Martin Sheen (West Wing), Kurtz (Heart of Darkness), actor in "Apocalypse Now", and now, Bob Kerrey. who's next? he's looking like Sybil more and more each day as he presents us with his multiple personalities.

This is not the first time that the Kerry campaign has credited John Kerry with accomplishments of Bob KerrEy.

See my comment #51 - John Kerry claimed credit for passing Clinton's Jobs Bill but Bob KerrEy was the one who cast the deciding vote.

The Democrat National Convention should have been called the National Liars Convention. Each trying to outdo the other for the blue ribbon and a chance to compete in the Olympic Liars competition.
