Associated Press
PLANO Life is on the wild side beneath the backyard patio deck of Gail Grau's Plano home.
Animal control officers called to the home Wednesday captured a mother bobcat. Now, they're going after three bobcat kittens they believe are under the back deck.
Animal Trapper Cliff Moore and his crew has removed part of the deck to search for the kittens.
Grau said she first noticed the mother about two weeks ago, but didn't call animal control until she found her and her litter had settled in her backyard.

I have a Bobcat that raises a litter every year or two in the woods behind my house. I watch them and keep the secret to myself.

We saw a bobcat in Lago Vista (NW of Austin) several years ago. I heard there are porcupines in the area too, but have never seen one. We had a vet tell us that he had several people bring dogs into his clinic that had porcupine spines in their noses.

Nope. I just don't want a bunch of dog catchers coming in and messing with her.

When I was at the Dallas Zoo the other weekend one of the folks working there told me that their bobcat had started out as a "guest." He was coming into the zoo at night and helping himself to some of the smaller mammals on exhibit. Well, they caught him and made him a permanent resident.

Very cool. It's been quite some time since I've since a bobcat in the wild. I live in the the next city north of Plano. We've got a couple billion rabbits in our neighborhood, a few bobcats would be most welcome.

We kept a house for a Pixie Bobcat, who lived with us for 17 years - amazing span considering.
Thomas the Brute was a very even-tempered beast with children, but had the most vile hatred of dogs. And was ultra-territorial; nothing that lived came within his field of ownership without his sufferance.
And he had the most bizarre tolerance for domestic beer...
