Well, its happened, folks. As I predicted in my August 11, 2004 article John Kerrys Media, the Kerry campaign is strong-arming booksellers into banning Unfit For Command. Todays Drudge Report has it as the headline story. Kerry is afraid
very afraid of the truth. Myriad books, filled with patently false statements, have been written about President Bush and his administration. These books, however, have been praised and pushed by our mainstream press and on-air media Kerry surrogates. It was reported, yesterday (by a caller to Sean Hannitys radio show that Borders will no longer carry the book and is attempting to recall the books already sold. If you have read George Orwells 1984, this is precisely what Big Brother affected. Book burnings were a regular course of action.
I just checked Amazon, they are showing 5 to 7 weeks shipment, but they have a lot of new and used books for shipment today. Most of these are brand new books and shipping within 2 days. More than one way to skin a cat.
Yeah, I like how when the three stooges ( Moore, Wilson, and Clark) write books and produce propaganda, it is all about dissenting against a Nazi.
But, when the tides are turned....its libelous and the next step is to ban books. What hypocrites.
All stores still have tons of copies of the Slickster's book. They may end up having to move the whole lot to produce and sell them by the pound.
You are aware that stating a 5-7 week delay is a statement that they will not be ordering in size and have calculated that demand will ebb before delivery? This is how they always treat a conservative publication...With that said Barnes and Noble is worse. I have pulled all my business accounts from them. It felt great. At least Amazon wants to sell product.
I just did an inventory search in my area, and checked five stores within about 20 miles from here in So. Calif. It is on "order" status at Long Beach, Cerritos, and all but one store; it shows in stock at the Costa Mesa "Bear St." Borders.
--SwiftBook nowhere to be seen in the whole Borders store.
--Big, disgusting poster of Slick Willie, though, at the front entrance, and his books prominently displayed up front.
--A clever bookstand display (Red/White/Blue) saying "Make Your Choice and Vote" with about 1/2 the books pro Bush on one side and 1/2 pro Kerry on the other, but no ANTI-KERRY PRO-TRUTH Swift Boat book(s).
--At "Information" desk (that reeked of Starbucks and Birkenstocks), a young, long haired, pierced man nervously fidgeted with his hair, eyes darting back and forth, but not looking me straight in the eyes. My (purposely uninterested, lowkey request: "I heard there is a new book about Kerry, pretty rough on him. I forgot the name.....")
--Before I could say "name" he points to a hastily made word processed sign saying "UNIT FOR COMMAND sold out. Please get on the waiting list." The man himself offered "Well, the STORY WE ARE getting is, uh, like, that they totally sold out on the first day, like here is only one publisher and they have to print more and so we're asking folks to check back with us. Everybody ran out and bought if up the first day."
--Seemed a bit shifty but might have been telling the truth, but may have merely been upset that another book on "Johnny, We Hardly Knew Ye" Kerry that they abhor is going to be sold.
BTW, I recently bought a copy of "A Matter of Character," a positive book on GW Bush, written by former Washington Post reporter, Ronald Kessler. In promoting the book, the publisher pointed out that there have been 75 anti-Bush books published (and Borders seems to carry them all). Probably the number of pro-Bush books is less than ten.
Examine the diversity statement on the Borders web site.
Time for a backup plan ... what would it take for the Swift Vets to release an eBook as well?
This is WRONG WRONG WRONG!!
Something stange about this.
I typed in www.borders.com and I got amazon.com
From what I can tell they are also connected to Walden Books.
Okay, here is an idea. For those of you that can get the book in one store and not another, but a few extra copies. Then bring the book to the bookstore that won't carry it claims not to have it. Place it in the front of the store when they aren't looking and leave. You could also but it in one bookstore, then read it in another. Leave notes in the book section where this book should be about where they can find the book for sell.
If the Libs are going to try and ban the book, we fight back.
No body but subject said "Recall "Unfit for Command" and loose this customer forever!!!!"
No body but subject said "Recall "Unfit for Command" and loose this customer forever!!!!"
do we know that the Kerry campaign is really doing this?
You have email. And thanks - you bought a boat-load of books!
OK, if this is a rumor, I'll calm down. But Chad Clanton's quote remains.
Correction- "buy" not "but".
BTW, the swiftees' website has been jammed today...Can't get in. I suspect their latest ad is causing the rush.
Just heard John ONeil again...on Sean, He is fired up..."THIS IS NOT BETWEEN ME AND THE PRESIDENT BUT JOHN KERRY"!...when asked by Sean if GW called him and asked him to stop the presses...!
BWAHAHAHAH!
Go JOHNNY O!
