What is the best html editor to use when designing FreeRepublic posts?
Self ^ | 8.20.2004 | DoctorZin

I am reasonably acquainted with html, but have never made posts that reflected the quality of the posts I make. Some freepers have made beautiful posts and I am frustrated that I have not found an html editor I can use that is compatible with the FreeRepublic.com.

Can anyone suggest a clean and simple tool to use.

I am trying to avoid hand coding everything and yet can't seem to be able to use Frontpage.

I know someone can help me.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

DoctorZin

Older versions of Netscape have a page composer that works well enough.

You rarely need more then knowing how to type HTML, though, for FR postings/replies IMO.

If you find out, let me know.

I am virtually an HTML illiterate -- just know how to post links, pictures, and put in paragraph breaks.

I would like to be able to do more and in a way, where I wouldn't have to hand code everything also.

You might like CoffeeCup Html Editor.
They have a free download to try it out, and if you buy it's only like $50 and you get free support and upgrades for life.
They've been around for years and I used earlier versions alot. The company has a great sense of humor and have lots of help and free goodies at their site.

Plus you gotta love a company that says "downloading is free, fun and relaxing" lol

I am trying to create new threads that are NOT news stories that I can cut and paste into a thread...

Check out my Iranian Daily Alert Thread.

I want to make a better introduction than what I have presently.

Thanks.

The easiest tool is simply MS Outlook Express. Create a new email message, type in your message, use MS Outlook Express to edit, highlight, bold, Italicize, indent, and change colors, then click on the "Source" tab down at the bottom.

Then copy all of the HTML code that you see in between the first <DIV> and last </DIV> tags.

Paste that code in to your FR post. You're done!

Thanks for the ping. Sorry DoctorZin. I don't use an editor. I know and write html. I have heard positive things about http://www.ultraedit.com from one of the programmers I work with. I'm sure you will get great advice from other freepers though.

You don't need all of that, get Firefox and avoid much of the Malware as well!
