What is the best html editor to use when designing FreeRepublic posts?
Self ^ | 8.20.2004 | DoctorZin

I am reasonably acquainted with html, but have never made posts that reflected the quality of the posts I make. Some freepers have made beautiful posts and I am frustrated that I have not found an html editor I can use that is compatible with the FreeRepublic.com.

Can anyone suggest a clean and simple tool to use.

I am trying to avoid hand coding everything and yet can't seem to be able to use Frontpage.

I know someone can help me.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

...I use FrontPage...

When I have tried it the images don't appear, even though they are on the net (on my website).

If you use Mozilla it's all integrated into the browser. Extensions are wonderful things.

When you are multi-tasking between work and play MS FrontPage is flawless on FR. That assuming basic 'cut and paste' html knowledge.

Ping me to one of your posts where the image didn't show. I will check your code.

FWIW, I hand code my FR comments. If you don't want any graphics or special effects, like italics or bold, you can just type your comment and post it.

If you need to learn a little HTML, I recommend this place.

Its weird... when I use frontpage and dump the html into my new thread post and preview it, the images don't show up.

I embed the images with a link to my website and this typically works fine when I hand code my posts, but I want to create a more finished look the the post and don't want to have to hand code everything it possible.

Is Firefox significantly better than plain ol' Mozilla?

Since I'm just getting my feet wet with .NET, I haven't gotten to the ASP portion, yet. By the time I do, Whidbey will be out. Sheesh...

Well, I'm actually working on Whidbey, mainly on the SDK... A lot of fun new stuff in the asp.net portion.

You don't need one. Just do the html in your post.

If you were creating the posts on your computer vs. from the server directly, do you think you may have been pointing the picture to your harddrive vs. the server where they were uploaded to?

It is much smaller, doesn't include the email stuff, and has some other features that I really like. The ability to increase or decrease the font size by hold the cntrl key and running the scroll on a wheel mouse is the #1 thing. And ability to choose , by the right mouse button whether to open a new page as a window or as a tab on an existing window. Mozilla (I don't think ) doesn't have the first facility and the second one is somewhat different.

So I am running 9.3 at the moment under Fedora Core 2.

Off a SCSI 10 K disk and it is very responsive, probably the RAM size of Firefox has much to do with that.
