What is the best html editor to use when designing FreeRepublic posts?
Self ^ | 8.20.2004 | DoctorZin

I am reasonably acquainted with html, but have never made posts that reflected the quality of the posts I make. Some freepers have made beautiful posts and I am frustrated that I have not found an html editor I can use that is compatible with the FreeRepublic.com.

Can anyone suggest a clean and simple tool to use.

I am trying to avoid hand coding everything and yet can't seem to be able to use Frontpage.

I know someone can help me.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, in starting a thread with more graphics, right?

Make something for the moment. Use yada yada for text holder. Give me a sample of what html you are having trouble with. Freep it to me. I will look at the code and test at my server.

http://www.thompsonforgrandisland.homestead.com/index.html

I made this page years ago using homestead, just drag and drop.
I haven't tried copy and paste source, I just looked at the source and all the images said file then code.
I'll have to try it and view in preview.

So, how do I use it to do html the easy way and avoid doing it by hand???

Do you mean to create it, or copy text and graphics?

This is a test to see if using Outlook Explorer can be done by a non-geek type.  This is way too easy to be true!!!  Testing underline and bold.

Outlook seems to work well for text only.

Most of the time, I'd like to be able to take a WORD doc and turn it into html coding for the bold, color, italics etc. emphases. I know how to ref pics and urls.

THANKS TONS FOR YOUR KIND RESPONSE.

Hi Quix. If you like that feature in Word, you may like the www.clicktoconvert.com suggestion for PDF.

Just an FYI.

View partial souce is good, HOWEVER,,, if you will notice the fine print implications from Microsoft, it was never a part of the "OFFICIAL" package, and was really only suppose to work with IE5, however it did work with IE6 ....up to now, but the new Service Pack has had major rework done, so someone should be checking to see if it still is working...

Then there is the question as to whether it will work in the next release of XP ,... called longhorn.

I don't mean that other than just be aware.....

I would presume WORD has a way to output a document into HTML, I use WORDPRO cause of its Math Equation capabilities and I am pretty sure it can do that.... but I haven't tried it so am not sure.

Looking in an Office XP book I have, it says save the WORD document as a WEB PAGE ....

Do you have MS Office ?

That would give you an editor , and it appears to me that you can output HTML from a document that has embedded links and graphics. That is what I read out of an Office XP manual..

I'm sure that it will be updated sometime before 2007... ;0)

Ahhhh. Thanks.

Have an expensive XP book and CD ROM, too. Never got a penny's worth out of either one of them!
