Sitting this one out (open letter to RNC)

TO: Republican National Committee Cc: Butler Co. Republican party Ohio Republican Party George W. Bush

Subject: Sitting this one out

As a conservative, I have become increasingly disappointed at the leftward drift of the Republican Party under the leadership of George W. Bush. His monetary and immigration policies are prime examples.

I have come to the conclusion that he is, quite simply, unacceptable. Furthermore, the overall position of the Republican Party is too far to the left to suit me.

The argument that "the other guy is worse" is invalid. There is now such an indiscernible difference between the Republican and Democrat parties that it would make little difference who won the election.

You have not put up a good candidate since Ronald Reagan. I have held my nose and voted in the last three elections, but I can't stomach it any more.

Therefore, this year, I will vote for no Republican candidates at the national, state or local level. If I find an acceptable conservative 3rd party, I will vote for them.

If we lose the election, so be it. My prayer is that a sound drubbing will slap some sense back into the Republican Party.

- Wayne Keller Cincinnati, Ohio

Borders and immigration are the big issues that everyone seems to want to ignore.

They're not ignoring it in the Western states. Conservatives in that part of the country are not happy with Bush over this issue and he can't afford to lose them no matter how much they try to pretend the elephant in the living room isn't there.

I have a longtime Demo voter ready to flip into voting for Bush.

So you go right ahead and pound that nail into your own coffin. I'll make sure your vote is cancelled when my enlightened friend goes to the polls Nov 2
in OH

It's morning in America – again. The 2004 presidential election is beginning to look more and more like a 1984 repeat.

These kind of people drive me nuts. They put Clinton in office. Instead of complaining how left the Republican party is, put your money where your mouth is. Contribute to the senate races going on throughout the country, especially were it's a tight race. We live in California, but contributed to three senate races in other states!

Your post #32 was awesome.

I'm so sick of these two-bit whiners who are as dishonest as Micheal Moore - "Bush is no different than Clinton/Kerry, etc." blah, blah, blah...

This is war. You are either with us or against us. THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND, NO TIME-OUT BOX FOR NINNYS. YOU WDKELLER, ARE A USEFUL DUPE OF THE ENEMY.

I think Bush is moving too slow on this

Bush announced his amnesty, er excuse me, "guest-worker" plan back in January.

Well, Lurch is going to lose, I'm pretty convinced of it.

Unfortunately, that means we'll be stuck with Big Government George for another four years of huge spending, pandering and vote-buying. He obviously doesn't care about or want the votes of people who really want limited government.

I'm voting Libertarian for President; we'll see about state and local.

If he was truly reforming the government and making it more efficient, it wouldn't cost 30% more than we he took office. And no, all that money is not going to the war effort.

No, you're right, it's not all for the war(s). But a big chunk is for the war and unprecedented homeland security measures. If you would have told me on September 12, 2001 that we'd be in the shape we are today - two wars in - I would have laughed.

Hey, I'm all for (much, MUCH) smaller government. Go ahead and eliminate the Department of Education and the IRS in the next five minutes and I won't blink an eye.

My point is that voting for Kerry (or any other naturalpeace&fresomlawgreenconstitutionlosertarianprotest candidate) because you want smaller government or want to send some limp message is like switching from beer to Everclear to avoid a hangover.

Parties are not perfect and not perfectable. Vote for the one closest to your beliefs and work from within for change and influence. Otherwise join the other Kerrynaturalpeace&fresomlawgreenconstitutionlosertarianprotest in the halls of the irrelevant.

Enjoy the hangover.

Right, we had a rovian plan for Dean. But that was Feb, this is August, and it's waning, not morning.

When you say that the GOP has not put up a good candidate since Mr. Reagan

I never said any such thing. Go back and reread my posts. I was responding to another FReeper who did.

and Mr. Reagan did the exact things you complain about in Mr. Bush, you don't know what you are talking about or you are trolling.

I'm not a troll [despite being a member here for less than a month] and I'm merely pointing out that Bush's immigration and fiscal policies are frustrating conservatives, that's all. Just some honest conservative criticism. Or are we just supposed to bob our heads in unison at everthing Bush does?

Maybe folks here in the West are concerned about our wide open borders, maybe some of us are even mad as hell about it. But the collective Washington delegations from the West are apparently either indifferent to the matter, or they just flat out don't give a damn about our national and economic security. I'm not a shill for Americans for Better Immigration, but find it's a great resource for researching who our friends really are, and who aren't. In short, we don't have many friends, and only Tom Tancredo is absolute (according to ABI, he's the only double A+ in the West, maybe in the nation!).

Here in Idaho, Sen. Craig sucks, and the others are only slightly better. Check out how low RINOs Hatch and McCommie score! Even John Kyl, who I like for the most part, scores a lukewarm B- over his career, and a C on recent votes! I'm not going to post a link or their address, but I urge you to check out ABI. For those who don't leave home without their rose-colored Oakleys, it'll open their eyes. For those of us who already have low opinions and expectations of their so-called "leaders", it'll drop our opinions even more!

So the question is, when will we, those of us who are livid about the invasion of our country which is the elephant in the living room, do something about it, and stop re-electing the same RINOs and 'Rats? Will we do something about it now, while there may still be time to keep us from becoming yet another Socialist welfare state full of diseased, uneducated and worthless leeches, or will we wait until we have lost our nation, and have to fight to get it back?

Any so-called "leader" who isn't working to stop the invasion and reverse course, is one who's aiding and abetting our enemies.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho! Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

The socialist liberals have drug this country down so far in the last 40 years and this fool expects Bush to reverse it in 4 years, with a terrible attack on our country? So much to do, he has been a miracle worker. Who has ever recieved so much hate? He goes on each day for us. Kerry would be ten times more evil than the Clintns!

I used to think that way.

I even wrote a letter to all my Reps and the President after the last disaster in the Senate with the incompetent way they handled the banning of law suites against gun manufacturers bill and all the riders that got attached.

The 2nd Ammendment people gave the Republicans the House and Senate 10 years ago. We gave Bush the Presidency. We got nothing for it. Nothing.

All this time.

We're treated the same way blacks are treated by Democrats. They think, "where else are we going to go?"

Well, if it weren't for the Democrats putting up such an incredibley horrible opponent, I would go anywhere else but to the Rinos.

But I still love my country, and I am absolutely convinced that a Kerry win at this time in our history would be irrevocable. We would never recover from the dammage these America hating, Constitution twisting bastards would cause in our courts, in our foreign policy, to our troops, and in the war.

So, I'll try and hang on, hold my nose while voting, and play my "up yours" to the Republicans when the damage won't be so severe.

Maybe next time the Democrats won't put up Benedict Arnold as their candidate.
