Mandy Moore Fumes at Being Declared Republican
IMDb.com ^ | 8-24-04

Posted on 08/24/2004 12:14:50 PM PDT by Paul Atreides

Singer and actress Mandy Moore is furious at being "outed" as a secret Republican in the new issue of America's Details magazine. The publication's upcoming September edition lists Adam Sandler, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jessica Simpson, Shannen Doherty and Moore as silent supporters of current US President George W. Bush who don't join the campaign trail and make their political views known, unlike loud and proud Democrats Ben Affleck and Barbra Streisand. However, the A Walk To Remember beauty has angrily denied she supports Bush and his party. Her publicist tells American website Pagesix.Com, "Mandy is not, nor has she ever been, a Republican."

How do you know that was her plan. Could it be that she was just corrupted by Hollywood.

Adam Sandler can become the next Reagan for all I care. I still won't watch his movies.

On 90210, Shannen had the same wonderful relationship with Jennie Garth (the blonde who played her best friend Kelly) that she had with Alyssa Milano. But Jennie Garth knew how to court the fans (or at least she wasn't hopelessly self-destructive) and she won them over. The focus of the third season, Dylan dumping Brenda for Kelly was an ironclad shift in the focus of the show. That henceforth Jennie Garth will be the star, not Shannen Doherty.

Is this somebody I should know? Should I care?

no--she's a Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson wannabe, but couldn't be, so she died her hair dark brown (from blonde) and tried acting instead... not much to her...

It's too bad that Mandy more and others don't realize there is a real market out there for good role models.

I hope that Jessica Simpson stays with us.

Mandy Moore is a good friend of Kelli and Jack Osbourne (children of alcohol-destructed-cells Ozzy)

Who care about HollyWeirdos anyway? Not me.

Never said that. But since you ask, 2/3 of people who claim to be Republican claim to go to church at least once a week and an even higher percentage claim be Christian. OTOH, 2/3 of the people who claim to be DemocRats profess to attend church rarely or never.

Where did you get your statistics? They sound very made up to me. Assume for argument sake that Republicans make up 45% or so of the electorate. This would mean, according to you, that AT LEAST 30% of the US population attends church on a weekly basis? Adding in the 1/3 from Democrats would bump this back up to around 45%. I don't think so.

One of the Top college Basketball coaches of all time. And he has the highest rate of graduating kids per any coach. He does have a temper, but he is a good coach not to mention Republican.

Why do I doubt 45% of the American electorate goes to church on a weekly basis? For one, the ratio of churches to population. I don't think it would even be physically possible. If you exclude non-christians from the population, your statistics would imply that around 50% of all people who identify as some form of Christian go to church on a weekly basis. Again, I don't think so.

OK, laugh at me if you like, but I like Jessica Simpson and her husband Nick Lache.

I hope she (and I hope Nick) are Bush supporters!

Wow! I find that very hard to believe. Sandler is definitely NOT the type of person Knight would warm up to, at least when I used to know him 15 years ago. I knew a full colonel in the air force who would break into a cold sweat and shake whenever he had to go meet with Knight regarding some university business. He said Knight was the single most intimidating person he has ever met, even when Knight was just being friendly and gracious.

There is an internet site that gives church attendance stats for different areas and is also broken down by religion/denomination. It was posted here about a week or 2 ago... very interesting and sometimes surprising. Forgot the link, but you might be able to search for it.
