As John Kerry gets ready to speak to the American Legion on Sept. 1, during the GOP Convention, it is worth recalling some of his earlier comments on that esteemed organization:
We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans' Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the "greater glory of the United States." We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars-in fact, we will find it hard to join anything at all and when we do, we will demand relevancy such as other organizations have recently been unable to provide. We will not take solace from the creation of monuments or the naming of parks after a select few of the thousands of dead Americans and Vietnamese. We will not uphold traditions which decorously memorialize that which was base and grim. It is from these things the New Soldier is asking America to turn. We are asking America to turn from false glory, hollow victory, fabricated foreign threats, fear which threatens us as a nation, shallow pride which feeds off fear, and mostly from the promises which have proven so deceiving these past ten years.
Those comments came in the epilogue to "The New Soldier," the book put out by Vietnam Veterans against the War. The book's cover features a group of not-particularly sober-looking antiwar protesters (vets, presumably) flying the American flag upside down, with the hygene associated with the protesters in New York City right now.
When the speech was announced August 18, Kerry's communications director, Stephanie Cutter, told reporters that Kerry is a member of the American Legion.
I hope that a copy of these comments are passed out to the delegates at the American Legion convention.
Great idea. I hope the word spreads.
So much for the opposition taking a vacation during the other candidate's convention. Surely Kerry could go windsurfing, or skiing. Bush stayed out of the limelight during Kerry's coronation, why can't Kerry?
If anything deserves a bump to the top ... this sure as hell does!
I wpnder if he's regretting his decision to attend, and speak..What's the over/under on the number of vets who stand and turn their backs?
And if Kerry doesn't like it -- he's been trying to suppress that book -- what's he gonna do, sue them for telling the truth about Kerry? Talk about a tactic planned to backfire!

In point of fact, Kerry did join the American Legion. It is listed on his Financial Disclosure forms. He also joined the VFW.
Great idea.
Read the Kerry legacy, and make sure it doesn't get worse, with his election to the highest office in the world:

Someone need to tell Hannity about this, so he can get it on the air. Rush, also.......

Watch... If Kerry's handlers see this happening he will "think better" of campaigning during the Republican Convention and "gracefully" withdraw...
Not to say he will get the reception that his daughters got in Miami or anything like that...
The cover of "The New Soldier" is a picture of long-haired men mimicking the famous Iowa Jima photograph of six marines raising the American flag over the island. Iwo Jima is where nearly 7000 marines died in World War II. Six marines were forever immortalized in the photograph as they raised the flag, and only three of the six ever got to go home again. The merry band pictured on Kerrys book cover further demean the marines at Iowa Jima and our country by raising an upside down flag.
If anyone is a member of the Legion, please contact the appropriate people. I don't think it makes sense for us to just spam them.
About a week ago, I suggested to Swift Vets that they hand out complimentary copies of Unfit to the delegates on the first day of the convention.
This hatred of the Veterans spewed by Kerry when he came home from Nam, should be gotten to every vet in America and in particuliar the American Legion members at this meeting.

I consider myself reasonably well-informed, but I'd never heard that -- no doubt because the book has been suppressed by Kerry and his allies, the mainstream media. We need to get this out!
I'm going to post the quote again, just because I find it so amazing:

Unbelievable.

I think it was 5 Marines and a Navy Corpsman (John Bradley).

I hope someone at the hall prints Kerrys comment up in HUMONGOUS LETTERS and hangs it up in the back of the American Legion Hall. I also pray that multitudes of these brave servicemen stand up and turn their backs to him the entire time he is speaking. That way, after the speech, when the press assails them wanting to know why they snubbed him, they can turn to the large banner containing Kerrys direct quote and say: "read HIS WORDS, that is why we want NOTHING to do with this man."
BTTT!
THAT is hysterical..LOL!

They know.
Well, his own false glory appears to be what Kerry has been touting. Instead of fabricating foreign threats, Kerry fabricated foreign travel.
LOL! Bump!
Kerry presents such a wonderful target for the conservative political cartoonists.

I've been posting that quote ever since I first read it. I'm glad sources outside the Shire have finally noticed it.
