Dems don't care, just as long as they can vote.

As a resident of Los Angeles, I think that number is too low.

They CAN read the words "Welfare" and "Meal Ticket", though.

What do you expect when we're being overrun by the "Viva la Raza" illegals and their Leftist supporters who insist that we should have to learn their language, not vice-versa.

They even order California plates, I've seen around that say, La Raza, (meaning the "race"). Now that is not racist is it??

In a rational state this would be a wake up call. In California, literacy testing is a racist plot to undermine the self esteem of undocumented immigrants.

If they can't read, how can they vote.

We obviously need more bilingual education. That'll fix it!

SOLUTION: Make ENGLISH the official and mandatory language of the United States.

I wonder what the illiteracy rate is for legal residents and citizens? The solution that no one will employ or talk about is at the border. With less of an overload on the schools and social services, the statistics would improve.

Its not shocking at all. Unending mass legal and illegal immigration plus politically correct education equals disaster.

That's where it's truly funny to watch the Leftists fall all over themselves to defense Latino racism. They claim that the racist MEChA organization has "moderate" groups.

Funny. I don't recall any "moderate" groups of the KKK or the Nazi Party, do you?

Amnesty, drivers licenses, and social security benefits will make it all better.

I don't think that's even a known quantity since the Leftists out here insist that we cannot inquire on anyone's legal status...even if they show up with wet shirts and a Mexican license plate hanging around their neck.

The solution that no one will employ or talk about is at the border. With less of an overload on the schools and social services, the statistics would improve.

Agreed. Were it up to me, the National Guard would be patrolling the California-Mexico border...and they wouldn't be firing pepperballs either. No sir, they'd be armed with the same goods they're using in Iraq.
