On September 11, 2001 our nation was attacked. Like many New Yorkers Steve Golding lost a friend in the World Trace Center attack. He created a flash video that became one of the most watched videos on the internet. I was webmaster for WABC radio host Steve Malzberg at the time and contacted Steve Golding to see if we could run the video from our website. It was the most requested video that we had on the site.

It is appropriate that on this anniversary I link to it again so that we can be reminded what this anniversary is all about. Why our friends, neighbors and relatives who serve in our armed forces are sacrificing their lives. It must also serve as a reminder why we must mnake the right choice on November 2, 2004. Too many of my fellow New Yorkers have forgotten or at least they have become complacent, thinking we can negotiate with evil. We cannot.

I am linking to the video so that we can remind ourselves of that day and also so that some newbies to this site who have never seen it may have the opportunity to view it.

After the attack and during the recovery a memorial light was put in place. Two powerful spotlights facing the sky where the towers stood. The following shots were taken by me from pier 58 in Brooklyn on April 13, 2002 one day before the lights were switched off. It was also my 50th birthday.

I think so! I am sure the media will be covering the various tributes across the nation too. But I can't give you any specifics. Sorry. Maybe someone else who reads this can?

Thanks for posting. HBO just showed a documentary about this tonight. Footage I hadn't seen before; lots of private video. Same title as your thread title. I'd guess they'll be showing it tomorrow too.

Thank you for posting the video.

Watching that tribute makes me cry. I guess that's why the MSM seems to be downplaying the anniversary, and we haven't seen too many images of that day--at least not yet.

There's no point in reminding us of what we've been through, what we felt that day, whom we're fighting against, and which leader is best qualified by temperament, character, and destiny for the job. I don't have to be reminded. I will never forget.

Those who weren't in NYC then may not realize this, but the wind was blowing south on 9-11-01. That means the smoke drifted away from Manhattan, and the smell wasn't that strong to those of us who were at work again in Midtown on the 12th. A couple of days later, the wind shifted and really blew the smoke uptown. I remember smelling it, how strong it was. It filled the buildings with the horror of what had happened.

I remember thinking that with every breath of that smoke I inhaled I was breathing in the remains of my fellow citizens, brothers, sisters, neighbors. That is something you don't forget.

I admit it, I cried at the video, I cried on 9-11, and 9-12, and on lots of other days after that. I'm not ashamed of it. I think I'd be ashamed if I hadn't cried. But I'm not a sympathy seeker.

I'm glad for the world's good wishes after 9-11, but they don't mean much to me. I'm not a hand-wringer or a politician. I wanted action. I wanted someone to avenge our loss. I wanted someone who would find the people who did this and take the fight to them. I wanted someone who would do what it takes to make the world safe for my children. I'm sure we've got that person in our President.

On this anniversary of 9-11, thank God for George W. Bush, and God bless America.

My daughter was in the North Tower when the first plane hit. My son called and told me to turn on the TV because a plane had hit one of the towers. I thought my daughter was higher up because she had just moved over to that building. Fortunately she was on the 38th floor.

While we were on the phone the second plane hit. I couldn't sit still. When the building fell I thought she was gone. My husband came in from work and he was a white as a sheet. He heard about the buildings falling and he knew we had lost her. It wasn't until late in the morning that we got word from her that she had gotten out. She used a borrowed Blackberry to write us an email.

That whole day I grieved for the families looking for their loved ones. It could have been us.

My daughter had a baby last Sept. 16.

That was the day I was getting my DSL hook up. When the tech showed up 2 hrs later, I filled him in. He was shocked.

He was back 2 yrs later on a trouble call. I reminded him of the last time we meant. It all came back.
