Alan Colmes gave foxnews a bad name
Entertainment Weekly | 9-18-04 | Todd

Posted on 09/18/2004 2:06:49 PM PDT by Patriot814

Entertainment Weekly did a thing of fox news at both conventions, obviously mad about their success. They quoted Alan Colmes saying "We're in an entertainment medium. We're not doing rules of debate. We're putting on a show." This is what liberal critics of fox news have been saying about it. Someone should try to inform Sean Hannity of this.

Why does Fox News even have a bonified Leftist like Alan Colmes on there? I don't see any other media outlet with anything remotely approximating a bonified Conservative.

Entertainment? More nearly fits CBS News.

You think Hannity & Holmes, O'Reilly, or Greta's show are news programs? They are as much news programs as are 60 Minutes, Nightline or Cross Fire. They are political based entertainment. What's your beef? Even Rush says his show is entertainment, not news.

Properly, it's "bonafide", but I like "bonified" better!

I never listen when Alan is on. I only listen when Hannity comes back on.

It may be informative, but it also IS entertainment. And there's nothing wrong with that. For the non-entertainment variety, watch CSPAN. Pure info, but damned near coma-inducing. Just because Fox is enjoyable doesn't mean it's frivolous.

Because they are "Fair and Balanced"!

Colmes provides a glimpse into the vacuous mind of libs all over. He needs to be included "lest we forget"!

I'd watch if it were billed as "Colmes & Hannity."

Alan is the better of the two.

What??

I actually feel sorry for Colmes. He finds himself so often trying to argue for some of the stupid things that the Left has done. A lot of times you can see his heart is not in it, but he carries on like a good loyal Democrat.

What I'd like to know is...

What the heck were Democrats thinking even considering Jerry Brown for their Democratic nominee for President?

He makes Howard Dean look calm and reasonable.

I like Colmes. He is the perfectly cast foil. He gets equal billing, but anyone who watches understand the star of the show is Hannity. Turn the sound off sometime and watch the show. Sean is good looking and animated. He makes eye contact with his guests and the camera. Colmes looks like the dufus that he actually is. He is looking down a lot fumbling for his talking points. Most viewers just by looking the two over know that Hannity has won the debate before a word is ever spoken. Fox is really making fun of the left by casting such a dweeby looking guy as the house liberal. Colmes is just there for the paycheck and trying to go through motions of debate.

Notice I didn't say that I agreed with him. I just like Colmes as a person.

Hannity today's "Walter Cronkite." There is nothing beyond his boyish looks, good head of hair and a good radio voice.

I may be utterly alone here, but I like Allan Colmes. Ever since I first saw him, I could not get it out of my head that in real life he is a conservative. He talks like a guy that has at least read a book or two in his life. As such he could not possibly believe some of the things he says, yet he must say them, with s straight face, because that is his schtick for the show i.e. his job.

Heck, it might be fun to try something like that just to see if you could pull it off. It would be even more fun if you could pull it off and someone would pay you to do it. I guess the proof would be in the ratings.
