Suppose the page was hacked and the hackers put up that image.

Someone should let Harvard know, they may not be aware of it.

They are just going to say that their web site itself is not supported directly by Federal money. Therefore it's not misuse of Federal money, but it IS something that will influence Republicans that decide on funding them for future projects, and for that reason should be made known to the right people in government. With only so much money go go around and many projects ranked equally, why give money to ingrates making themselves into political enemies.

Regardless of politics, this is highly unprofessional behavior and reflects very poorly on Harvard as a serious scientific institution. Based solely on the professionalism of their website I'm guessing they also spend a lot of time lighting farts and playing quarters in the lab.

I just sent a polite email to the professor who heads the lab, with a cc to Harvard's webmaster. I would have liked to send it to Harvard's president as well, but I couldn't find his email address.

I'll post any response that I get.

They tend to let students do the web site updates in the non-webmaster run accounts (any account preceded with a tilde (~). There are certain guidelines that the students are supposed to follow. Politically offensive satire unrelated to the mission and research is probably one of the no-no's.
