Nice promo photo Travis. How are book sales going. I sure would like to read and distribute a sequel.

he all but welcomed the confrontation in his home.

That is ridiculous. DeMar did not invite the guy inside. He entered illegally for the purpose of theft and who knows what else. I have no sympathy for him.

The intruder was in his house - unauthorized -

therefore

bang - bang - bang - bang - bang - bang

My Charter Arms Bulldog only holds five shots; however, given that it's in .44 Special, in my house it would be

BANG - BANG - BANG - BANG - BANG

bang,bang,bang,bang,bang,bang, click, tinkle,tinkel, snip, bang bang bang,bang,bang,bang."
I think there should be a lot more "bang bangs" between the "click tinkle snaps" as the AW and high cap magazine thingy has expired.

make that a "bang ..."repeated 15 times

Yeah, but a lot of my Texas Freinds are traditionalists, they still tote Great GrandPas 6 shooter.

Actually that is big enough to qualify for 5 booms instead of 5 BANGS

The burglar is damn lucky he was not in Louisiana. We have a "shoot the burglar" statue which authorizes the use of deadly force if you find a person in your house, whether or not he/she is in fact not a burglar,it is assumed the intruder is a burglar with deadly intentions. Also there is a separate statue which designates one's own vehicle a legal extension of your home....

A revolver? In the home, is the time for 12 ga buckshot.

Trust me, after BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, he would not have been seeking care at the hospital to remove 27 9mm pellets.

Above all else, train, practice, train, practice.

Oh yeah.

A pistol is just easy mobility. I'm packing a Ruger SuperRedhawk 44mag. The wife a model 686 357 mag.

The gun of choice inside the home - My beretta model 1201 semiautomatic 9-round riot shotgun with smooth bore for max dispersion. She'll shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger, basically a mini auto-howitzer.

Except for my friends who have it bad for the .50 BMG rounds, but now isn't that a bit EXCESSIVE ???

Just wondering what rounds are best. Big ass sabot slugs are like hitting someone with brick going a few hundred miles per hour, or 00 000 buck, or I've heard others recommend #4 turkey shot. I'm loaded full with the big buckshot for now.

Only if you use a small caliber handgun. Something major will get you 9-11 repeats at most. (Para Ordnance P-12 in .45 ACP for example) :)

Now that said, the guy did make some tactical errors in judgement that did maximize the safety of his kids, and himself. First of all, he shoudld have called the police from upstairs. Secondly he should have placed himself at the top of the stairs. Nothing you have in your house, other than your family, is worth risking your own life over.

Still it was a righteous shoot, because no one has the right to expect not to get shot if they break into someone else's home at o'dark thirty. Just not a smart one.

It took patience, but I taught my piece to go

BANGLIST - BANGLIST - BANGLIST

I have a Remington 1100 Competition Master. It holds 8 in the tube and one in the chamber, with a side-saddle which holds 6 more. I keep buck in the tube and put refills in the side-saddle along with two slugs.

One of the essential strengths of the shotgun is the select ammo capability, fit the ammo to the job. Take your shotgun to the range, set up a silhouette. See how bird shot patterns at 5, 7 and 10, then try buck at 7, 10 and 15. You'll see how effective your shotgun is.

Bird will sometimes pattern weird. A friend was shooting birdshot at plates during a three gun match recently and learned that his shotgun patterned bird in a doughnut pattern. That would leave a bad guy with pellets in his arms, face and gut and leave his center of mass untouched. That's why you need to see how your particular piece will pattern.

Slugs are a bit excessive in the home and present issues with penetration. Slugs go through wall board like it's not even there. 00 buck will send 9 roughly 9mm pellets at near magnum speeds. My round of choice for social work.

it wasn't necessary for him to shoot the unarmed intruder to defend himself or his children,

How could he be certain the intruder was unarmed until after he had arrested or shot him ? Since he is not a trained police officer it was safer to shoot than attempt an arrest.

The moral of the story: Don't break into someone's home, or don't live near Chicago.

It's bad because it tends to cut down on the number of Democrat voters, or then again maybe not, as both felonious and dead are both major Dem constituencies.

Third printing is being produced now, another 2,000 copies. I need to get Domestic Enemies written ASAP, but to do that, I need to put a lot more hours into that, and less into freeping!

Just a toehold to gain a bit of credibility. My goal is to "preach" beyond the RKBA choir, that's the only way my writing will have a real impact.
