XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

I watched it several times on large screen, it is a folded paper(s) and he unfolds it. Others have said that Bush looked over and got a look at this and had a strange look on his face.

Agree 100%. This is silly talk on our part.

In itself, its probably not the biggest issue of the campaign, but along with other evidence, it shows Kerry's serious character flaws. Throw it out there for the voters to see, preferably with other accompanying evidence. A preponderance of evidence is convincing.

The conservatives are looking for any way to explain Bush's performance. Bush didn't need notes at the debate. I have memorized so many talking points that I was spewing them off during the debate. No excuses for his poor performance. I heard at least a dozen conservatives on the radio explain those talking points better than Bush. It was ridiculous.

No, its a piece of paper. Right click, do fullscreen. Watch on the slow motion. You'll see something white and pretty good sized, and he actually unfolds it.

Are you kidding me? I detest cheaters. I detest them almost as much as line jumpers and folks who cut me off in traffic. If he cheated I want to know.

I think he did have some "notes" if you watch him talking about JFK (the real one) and the Cuban missile crisis, and this issue of credibility... he is looking at the podium and reading it....

someone needs to start a 527

Watch the video at this link.

http://www.dailyrecycler.com/blog/2004/10/winners-never-cheat.html

Watch it direct, or save it to your hard drive by right click, Save As, and then watch it.

It's very striking visually. I think this will resonate with the public. You have to watch it. It looks like Kerry is acting very "smooth and sneaky" at the same time as he palms the offending notes in his hand with his back to the audience, then puts them down on the podium

You're busy counting trees. Look at the forest.

Are we ever going to be really prove he broke the rules? I doubt it. That doesn't mean the question shouldn't be asked, given the circumstantial evidence shown in the video. Look at the forest, or you'll forever be lost and going in circles.

So you think it is perfectly okay if Kerry knowing violated the rules?

Nice strawman. I did not say that at all. I said it is silly for us to try and act like that makes up for how GW performed.

Kerry is going to lie and spin. We know this. What is ever ad the DNC puts on the air?? huh? A lie and spin.

Point being, GW should have performed better. He did not lose that debate because Kerry and info cards.

Why don't you go spin how when polling places say they are oversampling republicans because more people identify themselves that way it is fine. Yet, when the reverse happens you call in wrong. Point, being you are consistent when it comes to polling. And that is clear to many people.

Yes, a 4" x 6" rectangular white pen.

Given, the quality on the video Drudge linked to isn't very good. Try this video link, and zoom to Full Screen. You will see very clearly that it is NOT a pen.
