XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious "card" from his jacket. 14 seconds into video, after commerical]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

I don't have the time to read 500 replies. When I see someone say something stupid at the beginning of a long thread, I will reply.

If you don't want the post to remain, have the moderator remove it.

I see now you admit your error and realize he was cheating. You even say he was shuffling blank and written cards around? Wow.

If it were a cheat sheet, why wouldn't Kerry have put it up his sleeve? Isn't that what magicians do?

"The difference between Kerry smuggling in contraband - and a violation of the rules in using video from the debate is BIG. With the video, Kerry in his usual style can blame others. For his cheating he can't."

Agreed...the difference between, say, passing or flunking the Global Test :)

The more I've looked at various pics- stills and video- the more apparent it is to me Mr. Kerry is taking out a piece of paper from his jacket pocket.

If so- the damage he's done is mind-boggling. Thank GOD for the internet.

I just watched a spot on Fox with both sides discussing debate, and they showed the clip where Kerry is CLEARLY taking out paper and unfolding it. I can't believe it, it is so obvious! This cannot be ignored! He was clearly breaking the rules, just as he did when he interrupted Jim at the beginning, and started his warm and fuzzy pr bit, before answering the question. That too, was addressed in the rules, and he ignored it. At another point he again interruped Jim and said, "we'll get to that question in a minute." Know just how did he know what question before it was even asked?

Okay, I have taken off my tin-foil hat. Does it do anything else?

Okay. I thought you were saying he had changed it from even being something like a piece of paper. Card vs. paper isn't that big of difference. Card vs. say, hanky, that would make a difference.

Notice how Kerry, while Lehrer is asking him the first question, looks down DOWN for a split second. Now I know that Kerry is far from normal, but wouldn't most people look at the person who is asking them a question in a formal debate watched by over 62 million people, so that they can be sure to make sure they hear and understand each and every word spoken by the moderator? Just a thought.

Kerry isn't agile enough to slip a cheat sheet out of his sleeve.

I am sure that the media will bring in the big closeups with high res equipment and fill in the details.

If anyone in the media who was there noticed, they kept their mouths shut. How nice of them.

Why is it stupid to ask for the rules? It's only stupid if I jump on the bandwagon without knowing the facts.

What is stupid is when people jump on a thread and act like an ass to someone that asks a legit question.

The day of the debate someone was posting Kerry said something that I never confirmed. I asked him when he said it (I really wanted it to be true as it would have been another flip-flop), but it was never said. At least that I could find. I'd hate to jump on the bandwagon and be wrong. I guess I wouldn't make a good CBS employee.

That struck me as odd, too.

Kerry Cheated? Huh? That pillar of character! That hero of war! Kerry? Cheat? Next thing you'll tell me he didn't earn those Three Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Silver Star! Or will you tell me that he embellished his spot and after action reports? Kerry? Cheat? Hah! That's as bad as saying he'd marry a rich widow for her money!

/sarcasm

The only problem is that even if it's true, it's well after the fact and his rat handlers will spin it as Bush being a sore loser. There's no way we will ever know what was on that paper.
