a cover-up of Christianity's best-kept secret: that Jesus Christ never existed.

haha! yeah, right. over hundreds of years numerous writers who did not know each other, whose accounts reflect the same shimmering thread, were "inspired" to continue this fraud...and historians...yeah, that makes sense.

we'll see...we'll see, won't we?

I bet Michael Cimino is excited. Heavens Gate will no long be the biggest bomb in the history of Hollywood. I hope Christians ignore it and don't give it publicity it doesn't deserve.

There is no doubt we are in the time of tribulation. Revelation tells us to beware the False Prophet... And how will we know who he is...

Some say that you can tell because he will claim False miracles promising life from death.. well isn't a promise of life from death exactly what Embryonic stem cell research is?

If He didn't exist, then why would a Roman and member of the Sanhedrin who went out of his way to persecute 'Christians' immediately turn from an enemy to one of the most zealous advocates and apostles to explain and document what and who Jesus Christ was all about?

So let me get this correct...this guy believes that authors writing within a few decades of the life of Christ were outside of personal experience but he's got the truth 2000 years removed, is that it?

This is not new. This "theory" has been around for 2,000 years. Funny, I have never heard of any one being willing to go to a cross for this "theory". 11 of the 12 who knew Him personally were. The 12th was boiled alive in oil and survived. Sort of disproves the "theory", doesn't it? I would love to ask any one who believed this if they would die for that belief.

There are no credible non-Christian references to Christ during the period in which he is said to have lived," states the film's site.

This is true.

The historical accounts come from the Gospels.

This shows the accuracy of the Gospels (which historians have accepted)

The Lord Jesus Christ is someone no one could have invented! '

The person who could invent such a character would have to be greater then the character itself.

The one fact that the historians will not touch is the Resurrection which makes Christianity different then any other religion.

We have a risen Saviour, all other religions follow dead teachers. (1Cor.15)

I say we just ask Him to "take care" of this "movie".

Where are the cries of indignation from the liberal press? I know, lets get together and fund a freeper film about how Mohammad never existed and is just the fevered imaginings of some mushroom crazed camel lover, and then see if anyone can spot the difference in reactions!

Two thoughts.

1 This is a cash in on the Da Vinci Code craze.

2 Looks cheap.

I don't know about you. For over 10 years now, my family and I have been researching biblical prophecy and with the help of an ex-military man writing on a daily basis, have awaited the day man-kind makes Christ look like the evil one.
There are going to be people out there, liberalists, environmentalists, humanists, wicca,etc,etc.. that are waiting the day in which they have a reason to point out a Christian, and turn on them!
Movies like this only give courage and fuel to a fire, that's been kindling in Satan's heart for a couple millenium!
May God have mercy on all His saints as we draw closer to that day, where He Comes again!

The best way to handle this movie would be to ignore it. If people start to protest it and give it free publicity, everyone will want to go and see it out of curiosity.

The premise sounds lame enough; if we treat it with a collective yawn, it'll go straight to the $1.98 bin at Blockbuster, and then the big argument will be whether or not the director's career ever existed.

In addition, don't forget about that old, frightening phrase:
Hate Religion
There are many Countries: England, Australia, Canada,, and others that have huge amount of folks in their populations that are against "free thought" as long as it doesn't make them feel guilty for their own "thoughts".

The day is at hand, when Christians, and Bible fearing men/women are pointed out as Hateful People, not willing to tolerate other religions. They will call us hypocrites, Bible Believers, and they will persecute us in their mind first, then, the days of old will return.

I agree, don't bring the attention of the media to ourselves, let the Lord place HIS glory on such an event as this. However, don't take this as an idle "no harm doing" sort of thing either.

Jesus Christ never existed...but someone else named Jesus taught the Sermon on the mount?

Then the one who wrote the sermon on the Mount was the one who is "Jesus", no matter what his name. (i.e. the story would be like those who argue Homer never existed, but a woman actually wrote his poems, or that Shakespeare never existed, but someone else wrote his plays)

Trying to prove someone didn't exist is impossible, especially a common person. They are talking as if they found pontius pilate's hard drive with a list of the thousands of people he had crucified, and Jesus wasn't on it, so that proves that Jesus didn't exist...give me a break.

Of course, the real story is not that a man named Jesus lived--- after all there were thousands of men named Jesus (Joshua) back then, and lots of itinerant preachers...

The real story that divides people is if Jesus was God sent to teach us how to live.
