SHOW SINCLAIR BROADCASING YOU SUPPORT THEIR EFFORT TO GET THE WORD OUT
Baltimore Sun ^ | Oct. 12, 2004 | David Folkenflik

Posted on 10/12/2004 12:13:44 PM PDT by wynter

The Democratic Party took aim at Sinclair Broadcast Group yesterday, saying a program the Maryland-based corporation plans to air criticizing John Kerry's anti-war activism amounts to an illegal corporate campaign contribution to President Bush. The show is to focus on Kerry's denunciation of the Vietnam War three decades ago.

The company has been attacked by some critics - especially liberals and Democrats - as blatantly favoring Republicans and conservatives.

"The owners of Sinclair Broadcasting aren't interested in news - they're interested in pro-Bush propaganda," McAuliffe said.

Stolen Honor previously was available only through purchase online. But M. William Butler, Sinclair's vice president for programming, sent a memo last week to the executives who control all the stations owned and operated by the company, saying Hyman's program would be carried by all 62 of them, commercial-free. As the show is to be aired during prime time within a several-day period at the end of next week, it is an extraordinary dedication of time. Stations will forgo significant advertising income.

"I've never felt pressure to do things from one side or the other politically," said Morris Jones, a chief anchor of News Central, the corporately produced news program run by many Sinclair stations. "It may be a guilt by association, which is unfair. What we're doing at News Central I would match with anything at the networks."

Each of the stations that are owned by Sinclair have a poll on their home page asking whether they should air the documentary "Stonlen Honor". Each station is listed on Sinclair's website: http://www.sbgi.net/business/television.shtml "Sinclair's television group includes 20 FOX, 19 WB, 6 UPN, 8 ABC, 3 CBS, 4 NBC affiliates and 2 independent stations and reaches approximately 24% of all U.S. television households." Sinclair's company is on the line for this one. We need to let Sinclair Broadcasting and the affiliates that we support their effort to get out a true domentary. The organization of the Democrat bases is beyond anything the Republicans have done. They have been hitting these stations since last night and have overwhelmingly told the stations not to show it by clicking on the polls. Please show your interest in this. These stations are located in several swing states.

So glad McCain Feingold finally solved the issue of campaign financing. Remember the old days when accountability was transparant and obvious? Now the loopholes have loopholes. Kudos to the regulators!

I really hope this goes through, and that Moore's planned pay-per-view event falls flat.

I think it is important to post highlighted links to all of the polls you want people to hit. I'm at work and can't devote the time to help on this right now, but maybe some other FReepers will post links in the battle ground states.

They have a special e-mail address for comments on this.

comments@sbgi.net

I agree with need to let them know that we are supporting, them, it appears that the Democrats have been inundating them with complaints. I think this is why the following message is on their home page:

"We welcome your comments regarding the upcoming special news event featuring the topic of Americans held as prisoners of war in Vietnam. The program has not been videotaped and the exact format of this unscripted event has not been finalized. Characterizations regarding the content are premature and are based on ill-informed sources.

Massachusetts Senator John Kerry has been invited to participate. You can urge him to appear by calling his Washington, D.C. campaign headquarters at
(202) 712-3000.

if you would like to make further comments on this matter, you may do so at:

So let me get this straight. According to the Dems it's okay for Kerry and Edwards to get all kinds of free airtime spewing forth nothing but lies and distortions about Bush (as admitted by Mark Halpeirn of ABC News) and that's NOT a political donation?

Sinclair wants to run a documentary by Americans with free speech rights about the TRUTH of what happened to them in Vietnam when Kerry gave his Senate testimony in 1971 and that is somehow off limits?

Democrats (99.9% of them) are disgusting, vial, monstorous, pitiful, facists thugs! And those are their good qualities!

From http://www.wlos13.com/:

We welcome your comments regarding the upcoming special news event featuring the topic of Americans held as prisoners of war in Vietnam. The program has not been videotaped and the exact format of this unscripted event has not been finalized. Characterizations regarding the content are premature and are based on ill-informed sources.

Emphesis mine.

I assume this is about the swift vets. Obviously they would be very ill informed of the events they participated in...

I think the ill-informed are those making characterizations regarding content. It's a poor sentence but favors the Swift Vets.

That's what I got from that sentence also. It's just set up for the negatives that come in since most comments that they have been getting are negative. According to Linda Vester's interview today.

The liberals sure are frantic that we learn as little about Kerry as possible, aren't they? Makes me curious about seeing this show, whereas previously I didn't even know it existed.

I just took another look at it and I think you're right. The sentence isn't even that badly written, I was just being dumb. I need to remember a slight variant of something my dad taught me: "read twice and post once".

Either way I'm glad that Sinclair is planning on airing this. I think the amount of noise the democrats are generating about it is a good sign as well.

Sinclair is making a great move... This publicity and highly ethical stance to air TRUTH will no doubt catapult them to prominence. If they "stay the course" we may yet see a further counterbalance to the liberal propaganda machine known as the MSM.
