Bush is going to win by 25-30% in Oklahoma, not enough ticket splitting to elect Carson. This is going to be like Colorado and Allard winning going away.

Once again, if Coburn, Burr, Martinez, Murkowski, and Thune all win, they can thank G. W. Bush for "LOSING" the first debate, which kept Dem money at the table for Kerry on the hopes he could win the White House. And WHEN Bush wins, we're going to find some incredible strategery at work here, I think, that looked beyond merely the presidential race toward destroying the modern-day Dem party as we know it.

The latest poll from South Carolina is a bit troubling. It has DeMint only up by 3. I know its just one poll, but someone from SC please tell me that you're not about to elect Tenenbaum? I have no doubt that she would turn out to be an ideological soul-mate to Hillary and Ted Kennedy.

I saw some of their debate on C-SPAN. DeMint wisely brought to bear the national perspective about her being an ally of Daschle and Kennedy, but she responded by saying 'this race is about me and you, and South Carolina, not those others...'

He should have responded by simply making clear that in a two party system a vote for Tenenbaum is indeed a vote for leftwing control of the Senate. He can't let that soundbite response throw him. He must point out that the race has national consequences, that in turn will have consequences for South Carolina -- as with judges and gay marriage for example.

Yep, this is good news...

Oklahoma Ping!

If you want on
or off this list
Freepmail me.

I got this in my email just a bit ago...I have not seen the new Carson attack, but it sounds pretty hostile.

Dear Friends,

As some of you have heard, Brad Carson, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and a shadowy liberal 527 organization launched what looks very much like a coordinated attack on Dr. Coburn last night.

You are going to hear some terrible things said about Dr. Coburn over the next couple of days, but you have to remember THEY ARE NOT TRUE.

It is our job – all of us – to make sure that the people of Oklahoma know that.
Brad Carson is personally running an ad about the discredited and disgusting allegations that Dr. Coburn sterilized a woman without her consent. This claim was thrown out of court 12 years ago, and was revived earlier this year by a lawyer with ties to the Democratic Party and the Carson campaign.

What you need to do:

You, and everyone you know who is a friend or supporter of Dr. Coburn, should call radio talk shows, write letters to the editor, call Brad Carson’s office, talk to your minister, and generally let everyone in Oklahoma know how low Brad Carson has stooped.

Major talk radio stations in OKC
WKY - 405-460-8255 (all day long, best shows are from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m.)
KTOK - 405-840-1000 (from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m.)
KOKC (KOMA) - 405-478-1520 (from 6 to 9 a.m. only)

Tulsa
KFAQ - 918-460-1170 (Michael DelGiorno 6 to 9 a.m.)
KRMG - 918-460-5764 (John Erling 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.)

Brad Carson’s HQ - (918) 283-8000, 1-866-897-2723

Remember, these are discredited charges being raised for partisan reasons. BRAD CARSON IS STOOPING TO A NEW LOW WITH OUTRAGEOUS CHARGES ABOUT DR. COBURN. HE IS DOING THIS BECAUSE HE IS HIDING HIS OWN LIBERAL RECORD.

Do not attack Angela, the woman who filed the suit against Dr. Coburn! She is not the issue.

Attacking Brad Carson’s smear against Dr. Coburn is fair game. Remember, earlier in the campaign, Carson said, “I have pledged to run a campaign that our state can be proud of and one that is focused on the issues – not one that stoops to the level of assassinating my opponents character.” After these attacks, that statement is laughable. Repeat it often. Make sure everyone knows about Carson’s hypocrisy.

Below is the press release the campaign sent out last night:

Carson Pushes Panic Button
Abandons any pretense of running an issues-based campaign

Muskogee – Brad Carson, who assumes an air of wounded innocence in public, has just unleashed the nastiest and least factual television ad of the campaign season after a series of polls showed a shift of momentum in the Senate race in favor of Dr. Coburn. A “Sooner Survey” poll released this week by the CHS firm has Coburn leading 46 to 41.

“As voters have learned the truth about Brad Carson’s liberal record – and grown weary of his shrill and negative campaign – he has sunk in the polls. Now, Carson has hit the panic button,” said Coburn spokesman John Hart. “This ad is false. Brad Carson is lying. And he knows it.”

On Sept. 1, Carson said in a press release he has chosen not to remember, “I have pledged to run a campaign that our state can be proud of and one that is focused on the issues – not one that stoops to the level of assassinating my opponent’s character.”

Dr. Tom Coburn explained what happened in this case, before a national audience, on Meet the Press. “In the middle of the night, I got up and saved this young woman's life,” Dr. Coburn said. “She asked me, and her mother asked me, on the way to the operating room, to make sure it didn't happen again. She had asked me before for that. This was tried in the court--this was brought to a court of law. It was thrown out by a judge.”

According to The Oklahoman, Howard Pallotta, the general counsel of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, which administers the state Medicaid program, dismissed the claims that Dr. Coburn committed fraud. “If a physician has two reasons to do something and they bill us for one, I think that’s appropriate,” Pallotta said. (Sept. 19, 2004)

On Meet the Press, Carson repeatedly denied that his campaign had anything to do with this vicious smear. “I never spoke to this woman, nor did anyone from my campaign,” Carson said, even though she is being represented by a Carson supporter.

“Apparently, Brad has nothing to do with this story until his poll numbers drop, then no attack is too low,” said Hart.

God bless you,

It's Cole, Snodgrass, someone, and Associates.

Rep. Tom Cole's pollster, so it's a partisan poll. But SurveyUSA and Wilson Research have been showing movement toward Coburn in the past week.
