With the warning given that much of the movie is very gross and there is a LOT of over-the-top vulgarity....if you can take that, the movie just SKEWERS the Hollywood left - Michael Moore included!
I don't want to give too much of the movie away, but let me tell you my favorite line to give you some flavor.
The TA headquarters was bombed by Michael Moore in a suicide bombing. When the protagonist arrived on the scene, he asked the Hal-type computer what had happened. His answer:
"We were attacked by a giant socialist weasel!"
Among the celebrity dimwits absolutely torn to shreds are: Alec Baldwin, Jeanine Garafolo, Sean Penn, Matt Damon, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Danny Glover, Helen Hunt, Liv Tyler, and Samuel Jackson.
And while some will doubtless find the theme song, which includes the refrain "America....F*** Yeah!" objectionable, I assure you the skewering the Hollywood dopes get more than compensates.
Oh, and not a negative word (or word of any type) about W. A nice side bonus since anyone mentioned by name was pilloried.
Freepers should support this movie!
M.M. or Ted Kennedy?
;-)
I particularly enjoyed it when Sean Penn and Samuel Jackson were eaten by house cats...I mean panthers.
lol. The former. THIS time.
They did go way over the top with the F word, but thats Parker and Stone's style...wish they don't have to go there..
Thanks. You reflect what my son said about the movie after he saw it. He told me I have to see it.
Oh, and welcome to FR. You held up well on that other thread.
You know I didn't even make the Planet of the Apes connection. I wonder if that was conscious parody.
Agree on the language. What I REALLY didn't understand was why they felt the need to include the vomit scene - particularly to make it as long as it was. Oh well.
Thanks for the nice words and greeting. This is going to be fun. But I must confess I find navigating the site a bit confusing right now.
The vomit scene was, I htink just supposed to be funny, which it was.
They did an excellent job also of skewering the unimaginative hollywood formula action film. I mean, they just about parodied everything in that regard. It was incredible.
What I did to see where you were coming from was to first click on your name. From there I hit the "In Forum." Looking at someone's recent comments will tell you a lot.
You've already posted a thread. You're well on your way.
That screen name will probably get you in some "discussions," however (Not from me - I don't care).
M-A-T-T- D-A-M-O-N.
Great Movie, but your'e right, it may be a little too vulgar for part of the FReeper crowd.
I can only imagine what these hollywood types are thinking. I bet they can dish it out; but not take it.
Sean Penn's sent them a nasty letter already.
My bet: unless this is a huge hit, they're gonna be blackballed in Hollywood and probably won't make another movie. That's why I'd like to see it well supported.
"Freepers should support this movie!"
Hubby and I intend to do just that. Oh how these people deserve the whooping they get. But you can tell it's a fiction, if the fat pig Michael Moore ever DID turn suicide bomber he'd blow up the entire world!
Are Helen Hunt, Liv Tyler, and Samuel Jackson moonbats?
BTW, great screen name there.
Funny? I thought it was positively disgusting!
I know I'm in the minority here, but I think the hype over this movie is way overdone. I was semi-prepared for the vulgarity, having seen enough episodes of South Park to know their style, but it was over the top. While the movie did make a point, it didn't make it very well. This movie isn't going to change anybody's mind. If anything, it is going to make the left's case that we are a bunch of nasty, violent sickos.
That said, I did get a few chuckles out of it. Kim Jong Il was the best "character" in it. Best line: "Why is everybody so f***ing stupid?" F.A G. (Film Actor's Guild) was a nice touch, too.
well, i saw an interview with these two guys and they said thay absolutely HATED making this movie due to all of the long delays, logistical problems they encountered. they said they will stick to cartoons. but, hollywood is run by money. everyone said mel gobson would be blackballed until his movie made 100's of millions. then everybody loved him again.
We need a sequel. See this film twice.
Hubby and I saw the movie Saturday night, and LOVED it. Since of course I can't post the lyrics to "America &^%$ Yeah!", I've linked it. Notice at the very end they say Republicans twice, lol.
I also loved the 'panthers' and the valmorization process (cotton balls and shoe polish).
I'm laughing thinking about it. The whole thing. I can't wait to buy it so I can see it again.
